The slow footsteps were like a small hammer striking An Huaigu’s heart again and again.
Xiao Xing had not said a word, but An Huaigu’s legs were already going weak. As Xiao Xing came closer, the chill around her grew stronger. Every hair on An Huaigu’s body stood up.
She steadied herself and forced out a smile. “President Xiao.”
Between explaining and not explaining, she made her choice very quickly. “I was just playing with Little Bai.”
For some reason, Bai Moqing, who was usually gentle, did not cooperate today. “Sister An, you kissed me just for fun?” She deliberately stressed the word “fun.”

Then she thought of the construction report Wen Rushui had just given her about the hotel building.
Xiao Xing raised a hand. “Rushui, give me that file from just now.”
Wen Rushui quickly stepped behind her at an angle and handed over the file on top of the stack.
What was she doing? Handling business here? An Huaigu glanced at the file in Xiao Xing’s hand, and a bad feeling rose in her heart.

She took out her phone and looked. Two minutes ago, An Huaigu had sent her a message:

I will come visit you.
After An Huaigu left, Bai Moqing put on an obedient face. “President Xiao, do you have any orders?”

Xiao Xing withdrew her gaze and swept it over the files on the desk. A few minutes ago, that stack had still been in Wen Rushui’s hands. Xiao Xing pointed at it with her chin. “Bring those to my office.”
On the way from the assistant office to the president’s office, Xiao Xing stayed silent. Bai Moqing walked beside her and looked at her profile. Xiao Xing’s eyes were as clear as lake water. The ripples from earlier had already settled.
After opening the door and entering the office, Xiao Xing walked straight to her desk. Her desk was organized every day. Everything was lined up neatly, and the space directly in front of her chair had no papers or files on it.
After Xiao Xing sat down, Bai Moqing placed the stack of files in front of her. She was still hesitating over whether to stay or leave when Xiao Xing lifted her head and looked at her.
“Come here.”

When she reached Xiao Xing’s side, Xiao Xing turned the chair to face her. “The door is not locked?”
As she spoke, she wrapped an arm around Bai Moqing’s waist and pulled her onto her lap.
This position made Bai Moqing’s face flush at once. The extra memories of the past were distant, almost like someone else’s, but in the end they were still hers. For a moment, she could not accept being this weak.
“It is not locked. A-Xing, do not do this.”
She pressed both hands against Xiao Xing’s shoulders and tried to stand.
Xiao Xing’s hands were strong. After Bai Moqing pushed twice, she only ended up closer. She had no choice but to wrap her arms around Xiao Xing’s neck to steady herself.
