Why Aren’t You Cultivating Immortality? (GL) Chapter 65

Chapter 65

Warm sunlight fell on her body, making her drowsy. An Huaigu propped an elbow on the desk, lowered her head, closed her eyes, and lightly rubbed her temples.
Tang Yue had tormented her all night. The result after pleasure was a sore waist, aching back, and no strength anywhere.
Thinking of the call she had received after leaving Tang Yue’s home that morning, An Huaigu sighed helplessly.
When her younger sister, An Huaijian, saw that she had not come home all night, she called in an especially fierce tone and set a new rule for her: other than business trips, she was not allowed to spend the night outside.
In the end, An Huaijian still did not support her and Tang Yue.
Feiyue lay by the bedroom door and secretly watched the two people pressed together in the living room through the gap. Xiao Xing’s eyes were red, with two tear tracks hanging at the corners. It made people feel pity for her. Bai Moqing’s gaze was warm, and a faint smile lingered in it.
Realizing Feiyue was peeking, Bai Moqing turned and looked at her. Those deep black eyes pierced Feiyue’s heart in one glance.
Her heart skipped. Feiyue pulled the door open and walked out, standing by the door and tugging uneasily at the corner of her clothes. In a small voice, she called, “Qingqing.”
She was a little scared.
Seeing Feiyue, Xiao Xing left Bai Moqing’s arms and stood. Bai Moqing stood with her and raised a hand to touch the corner of Xiao Xing’s eye. “You really won’t erase this memory?”
“I don’t dare erase it.” Xiao Xing’s tone made it hard to tell whether she was jealous or complaining. She removed Bai Moqing’s hand and turned into the bathroom. Soon, the sound of running water came from inside.
Bai Moqing moved her gaze from the bathroom to Feiyue and called gently, “Feiyue.”
Feiyue stuck her head out and glanced at Xiao Xing. Xiao Xing was washing her face. With a whoosh, Feiyue turned back into the little orange cat and darted into Bai Moqing’s arms.
This form felt safer.
To make caring for Yun Su easier, Feiyue had stayed in human form by Yun Su’s side these past few days. Now that she had turned back into the little orange cat, her whole cat body felt comfortable again.
Bai Moqing held the little orange cat and smoothed her fur. Seeing Feiyue tilt her head and look at her with round eyes, Bai Moqing smiled and asked, “Do you have something you want to say to me?”
The little orange cat nodded. Bai Moqing glanced toward the bathroom, then carried the little orange cat into the bedroom.
Yun Su was still asleep. No one knew when the hour for her to become a dragon would arrive. Bai Moqing placed the little orange cat beside Yun Su. Comparing them like this, it really did seem that a dragon and a cat were not well matched.
The cat was too weak. She was not worthy of the dragon.
Then Bai Moqing thought of Xiao Xing and smiled. What was worthy or unworthy? She was only a small cultivator, yet had Xiao Xing not still fallen for her?
The little orange cat shook out her fur and looked back at Yun Su. Yun Su was sleeping deeply, so there was no need to worry she would hear what Feiyue said.
Sitting properly on the bed, the little orange cat looked up at Bai Moqing. “Qingqing, did something happen to you?”
Demons were sensitive and could sense subtle changes. The little orange cat sniffed. “I smelled that the aura on you changed.”
Not only her aura. Even her eyes had changed. Although Feiyue could not say where they had changed, she could feel it. Bai Moqing was no longer Bai Moqing.
Had she changed? The divine cultivation she had lost was sealed inside Fallen God Lake. Other than remembering some past events about Xiao Xing and herself, Bai Moqing lowered her brows and asked herself. Nothing had changed.
She bent and stroked the little orange cat’s head, pressing her soft fur backward. “Your nose has a problem. My aura hasn’t changed at all.”
“If it has…” Her voice drew out slightly, and she said something meaningful. “Maybe it is because after experiencing adult matters, I changed from a girl into a woman.”
What girl into woman? This cat did not understand that kind of thing!
The little orange cat’s old face reddened. She twisted and burrowed under the quilt. After circling once under the covers, she poked her head out. “Bai Moqing, you should go to work.” After saying that, she immediately pulled her little head back and curled into a ball beside Yun Su.
Tang Yue brewed a cup of milk and brought it to An Huaigu. The faint scent of milk drifted into her nose. An Huaigu raised her head and glanced at the cup. “Why isn’t it coffee?”
“Coffee is too stimulating. Drink this to ease your fatigue.” Tang Yue set down the cup and glanced toward the desk beside them. “Little Bai still isn’t here?”
The milk was just the right temperature. It was not hot when she drank it. An Huaigu took a small sip, and the warm liquid slid from her mouth to her stomach, making her whole body feel better.
“President Xiao isn’t here yet. How would she come?” She sounded a little jealous.
Hearing the jealousy in An Huaigu’s tone, Tang Yue narrowed her eyes. “What, you still like her?” She bent and lifted An Huaigu’s chin, her gaze full of danger.
An Huaigu leaned back and dodged Tang Yue’s hand. She raised a brow and smiled. “Guess.”
“Guess?” Tang Yue lowered her head and glanced at An Huaigu’s neck. Today, An Huaigu wore a round-neck sweater. At the collar, the corner of a dark red kiss mark showed. Tang Yue grabbed An Huaigu’s collar and pointed at the mark. “Your body tells me you only like me…”
“Cough, cough!” A clear cough came from the doorway, reminding the two people in the office to mind the setting and stop flirting.
An Huaigu glanced toward the door and pushed Tang Yue’s hand away. Tang Yue turned and saw Li Changyan. She immediately put on a proper, serious expression and straightened. “Manager Li, do you need something?”
“The company hired a batch of new employees. One of them is named An Huaijian.”
This recruitment was for lower-level employees and did not require President Xiao’s review. Li Changyan himself had also been careless. He had not looked closely through the resumes and had let the HR specialist handle interviews and screening.
Only when he met the new employees today did he discover that one of them looked very much like Assistant An. When he asked her name, it was An Huaijian. If she was not Assistant An’s younger sister, he would eat his keyboard.
An Huaigu stayed calm. “Oh. Is there a problem with this person?” She acted as if she did not know An Huaijian.
Li Changyan had been watching An Huaigu the whole time and did not notice Tang Yue’s strange expression. Seeing that An Huaigu did not seem to know An Huaijian, he relaxed. “No problem. I just heard the name and thought she might be your younger sister or some relative. If she were your sister, putting her in a lower-level position would be wasting her.”
After saying a few flattering words, he left.
As soon as Li Changyan left, Tang Yue immediately asked An Huaigu, “Was it your idea for her to join the company?”
An Huaigu spread her hands. “My sister likes President Xiao. If I don’t help her, she will find a way to get in on her own.”
Her poor sister, though. A lower-level employee had no chance to see the president at all. At most, when President Xiao came or left, she could stand by a window and look from far away.
“If President Xiao finds out…”
“She will welcome it.” An Huaigu picked up the milk and gulped down a couple of mouthfuls. She let out a long breath. Thinking of Bai Moqing, her spirit immediately returned. She wondered what Little Bai’s reaction would be when she heard this news.
At nine o’clock, Bai Moqing and Xiao Xing appeared at the company at the same time.
This time, however, after Xiao Xing got out of the car, she did not wait for Bai Moqing. She went straight upstairs, leaving Bai Moqing standing by the car in a daze.
Bai Moqing closed the car door. The car locked automatically, and the soft click brought her back to herself. Watching Xiao Xing’s back disappear into the office building, Bai Moqing was completely confused. What was wrong with A-Xing? Why did she look angry?
Thinking back, Bai Moqing had not said or done anything.
The women who loved gossip and imagined drama saw President Xiao leave Bai Moqing alone and enter the building by herself. They instantly became excited.
During casual chats over tea and meals, it took only half a day for the news that Bai Moqing had lost favor to spread through the company. The detailed descriptions sounded as if they had truly happened.
After being embellished several times and passed into Bai Moqing’s ears, even Bai Moqing could not help feeling a little sorry for the version of herself that had been abandoned.
But there was no such thing at all!
Looking at the changing numbers on the display, Bai Moqing walked to the employee elevator and pressed the button. It took a long time for the elevator to come down. She glanced to the side. President Xiao’s elevator had already stopped on the twenty-eighth floor.
She stepped into the elevator and turned to look at the slowly closing doors. Seeing the lobby security guard craning his neck with a curious, confused expression, Bai Moqing suddenly remembered the conversation she had with Xiao Xing at the entryway before leaving home.
At the time, she was changing shoes. Xiao Xing, who had changed shoes first, stood by the door and waited for her. Casually, she asked, “Sikou Yan is injured?”
Bai Moqing answered, “Mm. Her cultivation was damaged. I left her Aster immortal grass and pills. She will recover soon.”
Xiao Xing had shown no reaction. After Bai Moqing put on her shoes, they went downstairs together.
On the road, Xiao Xing answered several calls. Her tone was the same as usual, cool and indifferent. Her words were organized, and she calmly made all kinds of arrangements.
Thinking back now, the problem was that Aster immortal grass.
Aster immortal grass was rarely found even once in a thousand years. It was an extremely precious thing. Bai Moqing had obtained it in the Qiongcang Secret Realm. She had dug out the herb with its roots and soil, watered it with spirit liquid made from spirit stones, and planted it in the living soil inside her black jade ring. Counting the years, she had raised it for several hundred years already.
A single immortal herb she had raised for several hundred years had been given to Sikou Yan just like that. Anyone would be furious.
Xiao Xing’s personality was restrained. When she was angry, she only held it inside. Bai Moqing’s heart tightened. She had to hurry upstairs and explain. That immortal herb was not very useful to Bai Moqing herself. Giving it to Sikou Yan was only to thank her for helping Bai Moqing remember the past.
Xiao Xing had to know that Bai Moqing had given her the most precious top-grade immortal medicine. She had also given Xiao Xing top-grade spirit stones. Compared with those things, Aster immortal grass was nothing.
The elevator doors opened. A familiar abstinent face appeared before Bai Moqing, cold and expressionless. Bai Moqing was pleasantly surprised. “You… you were waiting for me?”
Xiao Xing did not answer. She turned and walked toward the office. Bai Moqing quickly followed, obedient as a little wife.
Seeing President Xiao arrive, Secretary Wen ran out holding a stack of urgent documents. “President Xiao.” She did not notice anything strange between the two. Like a bright lamp between them, she walked beside them and, without waiting for President Xiao’s instructions, actively began reporting work.
Bai Moqing very sensibly turned into her own office when they reached it. She completely failed to notice Xiao Xing standing outside the transparent glass wall, staring at her with a frown for several seconds.
After greeting Sister An, Bai Moqing sat down and turned on her computer, preparing to work. Before her seat had even warmed, Sister An came over with an unusually cheerful smile.
“Sister An, do you… need something?” From Bai Moqing’s experience, whenever Sister An smiled like this, nothing good followed.
An Huaigu leaned against the desk and bent slightly. “Yes. I have news to tell you.”
She raised a hand and crooked a finger at Bai Moqing, signaling for her to bring her ear closer.
So mysterious. What was it? Bai Moqing hesitated, then leaned toward An Huaigu.
An Huaigu bent and whispered beside Bai Moqing’s ear, “My younger sister joined the company. She starts today.”
After saying that, she stole a little sweetness and kissed Bai Moqing’s earlobe. After kissing it, she even deliberately smacked her lips.
It was purely to tease her.
Seeing Bai Moqing’s gaze change from surprise to shock, then to blankness, An Huaigu was completely satisfied. She flicked her hair and turned back toward her own desk.
At the instant she turned, she found President Xiao standing outside the door, looking at her in anger. Beside President Xiao stood Secretary Wen, so shocked her mouth would not close.
Who could have expected President Xiao to walk past and then come back!
An Huaigu was so frightened her heart shook wildly. From the corner of her eye, she saw Bai Moqing raise a hand to touch the earlobe she had just kissed. An Huaigu wailed in her heart.
She was finished!
