The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 45

Chapter 45

“Kill him?” Someone suddenly rushed over. He blocked Li Lingjiang with a face full of anger. “Can my brother not still be saved? What right do you have to casually decide life and death?”
Li Lingjiang glanced at him calmly, then withdrew her gaze. She did not plan to bother with him. She only nodded to Yin Wu. The meaning was clear.
The man still wanted to rush out, but someone grabbed him. Li Lingjiang recognized this person. It was the female cultivator who had knelt on the stone steps yesterday.
“Stop spreading that saintly mercy here. I wonder who abandoned his family and children back then. As far as I know, your son and daughter are only five years old, right? Why have I never seen you care about your poor wife? Everyone came for the same goal. Now this person has already become like this, and you are still thinking of saving him? It would be bad if you delayed us.”
The female cultivator directly grabbed his collar and dragged him away. Yin Wu was too lazy to deal with such a person. She stood in place and casually tossed the fireball over. Raging flames instantly rose and surrounded the infected person. The demon vines had completely occupied that body, and because they had not grown for long, they could not resist the fire at all.
Soon, they were burned clean. The foul burnt smell made everyone cover their noses.
Li Lingjiang had just been about to leave. She had only turned slightly when she suddenly turned her head back and stared at one spot on the ground. Yin Wu looked at her a few times, then formed another fireball, pretending to take it from her storage pouch. She said in a low voice, “Burn it to death the moment it comes out.”
Both of them looked at the same place. Many people noticed the oddness. After understanding the meaning, they retreated one after another and watched the seemingly normal ground with caution.
Sure enough, right after they scattered, cracks appeared in that patch of earth. A pointed head pushed up beneath the raised soil. It was fresh green and had not yet turned the color of a huge mature vine.
The female cultivator holding the man impatiently let him go. She looked him over with contempt, then walked to Yin Wu and held out a hand. “Give it to me. I will deal with this thing.”
Yin Wu lifted her eyes and raised a brow. Without saying much, she passed over the fireball. “Just throw it in.”
The female cultivator nodded. She turned it in her hand, strode over, and the vine even shrank inward when it saw her coming. She gave a cold laugh. Without another word, she shoved the fireball beside the demon vine, then stepped on the raised ground until it was flat. As if still not satisfied, she stepped on it a few more times.
After doing all this, she clapped her hands and calmly turned back. Before she could run to the man and say the long-planned words “coward,” her eyes suddenly widened. In panic, she ran forward and shouted, “Careful!”
No one, including Yin Wu, had discovered the vine hidden in the man’s sleeve. No one knew when it had slipped in through slime. The man had ignored the strange feeling in his arm and was directly wrapped and dragged away. The demon vine was very fast. In only an instant, he had been dragged several hundred yards.
Yin Wu threw out red thread, but a vine as wide as an old tree had rushed over at some unknown time to meet it and blocked her. She loosened her strength slightly, only cutting through half its thickness. With her current strength, she still could not directly snatch the man back.
But judging by time, the moment the vine appeared, the man should already have lost all life.
“Everyone, hurry and check whether there is any slime on your body.”
“Heavens, this is too scary.”
“How did this happen? Two people disappeared just like that.”
“…”
The man had been too far from them, and there had been no time to react. Now two people had been lost at once, and the air instantly became heavy. Tang Wusuo leaned against a tree trunk. His hands shook nonstop as he forced himself to rub his copper coins. He closed his eyes and sighed. “It was right… If only I had understood earlier.”
Li Lingjiang and Yin Wu exchanged a look. Li Lingjiang lowered her eyes and half narrowed them for a moment. Then she turned to the female cultivator. “Stay here honestly and wait. If anything feels wrong, call for help at once.”
“We will follow the demon vine now and see where they are going.”
Yin Wu made five fireballs on the spot and solemnly placed them in the female cultivator’s hands. With a serious voice, she said, “Keep them safe. Use them at the key moment. These are very expensive, so be careful with them.”
There was no flaw in her words. Hearing them, Li Lingjiang silently looked away.
Ling Xin’s side was not slow in finishing matters. Before Li Lingjiang left, she added, “If anyone asks, point out where we are.”
After saying this, she left without looking back. Yin Wu jogged after her, even with a little bounce in her steps.
Li Lingjiang looked over in confusion. “Why so excited?”
Yin Wu laughed. “It has been so long since I was alone with you, My Lord. I am a little happy.”
“What is there to be happy about?” Li Lingjiang searched for her with a tolerant glance. “You are too easy to satisfy.”
Yin Wu sighed and deliberately acted deep, patting both sides of her thighs. “No way around it. I stand too low, so my heart is especially full. Right now, I only have one thought.”
She even covered her chest and pretended to look pained. Li Lingjiang watched her act and could not help laughing. She bent a finger beneath her lips. “Then you should work harder.”
Yin Wu suddenly covered her face. A gap opened between her fingers, just enough to reveal her eyes. She hummed a few times. “I am working hard. Stop talking.”
Li Lingjiang’s smile became more obvious. She pulled it back a little, but her eyes were very gentle. She lightly patted Yin Wu’s shoulder. “All right, all right. I see your effort.”
The two chatted as they followed the drag marks forward. They walked through many twists and turns. This forest was far larger than Li Lingjiang had imagined. She lowered her eyes, observing how difficult it would be to get out.
Yin Wu merely stretched in boredom. She had been to this place several times. After so many years, the method had barely changed. When they reached the right place, there would definitely be a fork in the road. It was the same old trick.
She was drifting in thought when the person ahead stopped. Only then did she lift her head. “What is wrong, My Lord?”
“There are two roads. Only one has no drag marks,” Li Lingjiang explained.
Yin Wu gave an “Ah” and leaned over curiously. After thinking deeply for a while, she said, “I think it should be this side.”
The direction she pointed was exactly the road without drag marks. Li Lingjiang asked, “Why?”
Yin Wu answered, “A guess. But my intuition is very accurate. My Lord, are you willing to trust me?”
Li Lingjiang tucked her hands into her sleeves and looked left and right. She did not pause for long before nodding. “Then let us take this side. I trust you.”
“Thank you.” Yin Wu’s smile made her brows and eyes curve like crescent moons. She lowered her face slightly, putting away that happy look. Her eyes were full of coldness.
The two did not walk long before reaching the place. It was a wide, open ground. Many resting demon vines lay across the ground. What drew the eye at once was the man lying there. He had been placed casually to one side, and his chest clearly no longer rose.
If they waited for Ling Xin and the others, it would probably take a while. Besides, that side was being attacked on a larger scale and had to settle the people there. Handling this themselves would only take a little extra effort.
Li Lingjiang turned her wrist. Around it was a red string Yin Wu had tied with red thread.
At the time, Yin Wu had said, “My Lord, will the two of us get lost?”
Without moving her head, Li Lingjiang had directly exposed her. “What do you want to do?”
Yin Wu had pressed her lips into a smile. She bit her lip, carefully testing as she held Li Lingjiang’s wrist. She wrapped the red thread around it and tied a very pretty knot. The bright red instantly contrasted with the white gauze, looking especially vivid. She murmured, “My heart feels at ease now.”
She tied the red thread around her own wrist as well, so there was a bond between them. Li Lingjiang had not paid it much mind. Yin Wu walked in front, swinging her hand, and the little delight in her heart was immediately satisfied, as if she had successfully tied Li Lingjiang firmly to her side.
Yin Wu hooked the red thread with her fingertip. Suddenly, she felt that if she moved now, Li Lingjiang’s wrist might not survive. What a pity. She did not want to do that right now.
“My Lord, let us act directly. I can solve them smoothly.” Yin Wu pulled the red thread, and it slipped free from Li Lingjiang. The soft, smooth feeling made the heart tremble faintly.
