The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 44

Chapter 44

Wuzhi and Feng Luan focused on clearing the front. Ling Xin and Qi San each handled one side. Wen Si picked out a few people with decent skill and shouted, “Senior Brother Shen, together!”
Shen Duoyi did not hesitate. He drew his long whip and snapped it against the ground with a loud crack. Then he ran past Wen Si. “Go!”
People attacked and defended on all four sides. Li Lingjiang and Yin Wu stayed in place to watch over the others. Besides, among them were still a few people hiding their identities and observing from the shadows.
Li Lingjiang leaned against a tree trunk. Her waist bent slightly, but she did not fully let her strength go. Yin Wu stood beside her and tentatively reached out to knead her arm.
Li Lingjiang did not resist. After judging the demon vines’ strength, she felt they would not be too hard to take down. Moreover, she had suppressed the main power. The demonic energy she had just sent out left her a little tired. The young immortal kneaded her shoulder with neither too much nor too little strength. Li Lingjiang lightly closed her eyes, and her senses instantly sharpened.
Yin Wu’s fingers moved from her shoulder downward. When they reached the wrist, they cleverly avoided it, like a cat. Then the young immortal began kneading upward again. The rub of her fingertips was very clear, making Li Lingjiang move despite herself.
“Yin Wu.” Li Lingjiang kept her voice low, afraid others would hear. “Stop kneading. I feel much better.”
Yin Wu smiled. Her hand did not leave Li Lingjiang’s shoulder. Instead, it continued upward and finally stopped at her collarbone, pinching lightly. “My Lord, I am not tired.”
Li Lingjiang rarely let others touch certain places. Yin Wu’s hand was like fire that could not be ignored, scorching her neck and making it more sensitive. Li Lingjiang could not help turning her head aside. Lowering her face, she gently held Yin Wu’s hand. “It is not that I think you are tired. It feels strange to me.”
She moved Yin Wu’s hand away from her shoulder. “Very few people do this.”
Yin Wu looked at the fingers holding hers. She bent a finger against her lips and laughed softly. “Do what?”
Li Lingjiang glanced over. Her eyes clearly held helplessness and a smile. “Nothing. I am telling you to stay farther from me next time.”
She let go, covered one shoulder with a hand, and moved it. Then she looked toward the crowd. Several disciples who still had strength remained among them. They were fairly calm and could soothe the others. Tang Wusuo had come out at some unknown time. In only a short while, he seemed much more defeated.
He sat on the ground, holding his copper coins and muttering. He cast omen after omen. Judging by his sweat-covered forehead, the results were probably the same.
Li Lingjiang watched him for a while. In the end, she shook out her sleeve, held the Jade-Bone Fan, and tapped it against her palm now and then. She walked over and looked down at him. “Are you not tired? It is the same omen every time.”
Tang Wusuo’s hands suddenly stopped. He froze on the ground, completely at a loss. His hollow eyes stared ahead. Then he suddenly laughed at himself. “Fellow Cultivator Li, when I first learned fortune-telling, I never thought I would rely on this trade to cheat food and drink. In the end, the retribution still fell on me. A great omen of disaster. It cannot be escaped.”
“Is this repentance after being moved by feeling?” Yin Wu walked over with amusement. She crouched in front of Tang Wusuo and snapped her fingers. “It is too late, Fellow Cultivator Tang. Every day has so many regrets. Why trap yourself in this one? Right now, you should think carefully about how to survive.”
“I-” Tang Wusuo choked. He sighed, slowly put away the copper coins, and muttered, “That is true. Bai Zhi was a prophecy from my mouth.”
Li Lingjiang’s eyes darkened. She curved her lips and did not mention it again. Yin Wu, on the other hand, became interested and began chatting endlessly with Tang Wusuo.
The long whip and flute sounded one after another. Li Lingjiang looked over. They were handling things with ease, and Wen Si’s side was also controlling the situation well. She should have been relieved. But in the next second, her expression tightened, and she suddenly turned toward the source of a sound.
In the middle of the crowd, someone had already been surrounded by dense tiny vines. Looking carefully, Li Lingjiang realized they were growing from this person’s body. Fine demon vines surged from his features and fingernails, growing extremely fast. Very soon, they spread toward the people around him. Frightened cries made everyone keep retreating.
The scene was extremely disgusting. Some people could not help gagging. Li Lingjiang frowned and immediately looked upward, but she saw no vines there. She asked quickly, “What happened?”
Someone nearby stepped out and tried hard to control their breathing. “He said there was slime on him. He had gotten some on himself. When he noticed and wanted to take off his clothes, he already became like this.”
The person trembled. “He will not be swallowed just like that, will he?”
Li Lingjiang gave no explanation, but the answer was obvious. She warily watched the person being invaded and guessed that the demon vines could enter a person’s body through the slime.
Very quickly, vines covered that person’s entire body, slowly swallowing his whimpers. From the beginning until now, only a dozen seconds had passed. Yin Wu also watched closely. She gave a tiny cold laugh, and a fireball gradually gathered in her palm.
As if unable to decide, Yin Wu tugged at Li Lingjiang’s robe corner. “My Lord, now we…”
She did not finish. She only held the fireball before Li Lingjiang.
Li Lingjiang looked at the highly flexible new vine and the way it kept invading other disciples. She pressed her tongue against her cheek and pursed her dry lips. Without pausing again, she said, “Kill it.”
