The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 21

Chapter 21

Yin Wu seemed very stubborn about changing Li Lingjiang’s medicine. Li Lingjiang was silent for a few seconds, then shifted her gaze to that rock. It was not large, but it was more than enough for two people to sit on. Seeing that she still did not speak, the young immortal’s voice softened.
“I can go wipe it clean.”
Li Lingjiang hooked the corner of her lips. Her eyes lowered slightly. After a few seconds, she stepped over. Because it was close to the river, no one had dared come forward for half the day. Without turning her head, she said, “Are you not afraid they will be frightened if they see my wounds?”
“I can put up a barrier. They will not see.” Yin Wu then became troubled again. “It is just that the four lords should be able to break my spell very easily.”
Li Lingjiang lifted her brows slightly and tilted her head a little, telling Yin Wu to look. Wuzhi was secretly touching and playing with Feng Luan’s bald ears. Understanding at once, he moved his gaze away. Even Feng Luan, whose face had reddened with anger, silently lowered his head.
Yin Wu had added a little spiritual power to her voice so they could hear clearly. They were not fools, so they naturally knew to avoid suspicion.
Ling Xin, who had been walking over from the side, said nothing and directly covered Qi San’s eyes, forcefully turning him aside. Irritated, he said, “Shut up, would you.”
Qi San: “…I was not planning to speak.”
Seeing all four so self-aware, Yin Wu straightened her waist, and her confidence rose quite a bit. “Demon Lord!”
Li Lingjiang breathed out, rather helpless. She sat on the rock with her back straight, proper and upright, her fingers hidden inside her sleeves.
Yin Wu sat over as well. Her hand movements were very fast, and she formed a simple barrier in almost three seconds. From the outside, it looked as if the two of them were merely talking to each other. No one should come disturb them.
The young immortal took a new roll of gauze from her storage pouch, then took out that bottle of medicinal powder. Li Lingjiang watched with focus. As expected, the young immortal smiled cheerfully and took out a brown pill.
Li Lingjiang instinctively felt it was familiar.
In the next second, Yin Wu mysteriously held the pill out in front of her. “Demon Lord, I thought bringing a medicine stove on the road would be inconvenient, so I made it into a pill myself. The effect should be about the same.”
Li Lingjiang choked on her words. She slowed her breathing for a few seconds. “When did you make it?”
“How did I know nothing about it?”
The pride on Yin Wu’s face grew even stronger. “I made it while you were sleeping! Do not worry. It was not hard. I strengthened it with a spell. If it does not work, then we will slowly brew it after all. Spending some time does not matter.”
She gave a thoughtful “Mm” and asked uncertainly, “Should I taste it first?”
After saying this, she was about to put it into her mouth. Li Lingjiang reached out and stopped her, gently lowering Yin Wu’s hand. “You are very skilled. There is no need. I am not doubting you.”
Yin Wu’s eyes and brows instantly bloomed into a smile. The young immortal’s face was truly not bad, and when she smiled, it stirred the heart even more. There was not half a trace of calculation in her eyes. She was very likable.
Li Lingjiang accepted the pill. Her fingertip turned it slightly, and without much hesitation, she swallowed it. The bitter taste faded quite a lot, so she swallowed it without much resistance.
“Demon Lord, lift your foot.” Seeing that Li Lingjiang’s expression had not changed, Yin Wu crouched before her and looked up at her.
Li Lingjiang lowered her gaze and met Yin Wu’s serious expression. It was like looking at a loyal believer, eyes always carrying fierce heat and fearlessness.
The young immortal held out her hands, her leg extending forward. Li Lingjiang was quiet for an instant, then still placed her leg on it. Unlike the shaking she had expected, Yin Wu’s body was very steady.
Yin Wu firmly supported her leg, carefully removed her shoe, then gently unwrapped the gauze. Her mouth kept blowing air, as if that could ease even a little of the pain. Blood still flowed without stopping, but unlike before, it was not flowing very fast.
She nimbly scattered the medicinal powder, then wrapped the gauze back around. When she tied the knot, Li Lingjiang’s foot was completely resting on her leg.
Li Lingjiang braced both hands behind herself on the stone. Her hair had fallen in slight disorder as she concentrated on watching Yin Wu’s movements. The young immortal did not say a word, but her furrowed brows had already revealed her heartache.
As if sensing something, Yin Wu raised her eyes and met Li Lingjiang’s focused gaze directly. Li Lingjiang’s eyes could also hook the heart. First, she looked at Yin Wu. Then her pupils unfocused a little, and she asked, “What is it?”
“Nothing.” Yin Wu pressed her lips into a smile. Her fingers quietly moved to Li Lingjiang’s ankle. “It seems to be working. Your wound is much better. If we continue for a long time, it will definitely heal.”
She smiled earnestly, then turned her gaze back. With heartache, she said, “You have become so thin.”
Yin Wu did not lift her eyes, but her fingers bent. A magical command moved silently through Li Lingjiang’s body and quietly lit the spells on her back and lower waist.
The spells flashed once, then slowly began nourishing Li Lingjiang’s meridians.
Li Lingjiang could not sense it. She only felt somewhat awkward and wanted to pull back her foot. Yin Wu spread her palm, letting Li Lingjiang’s skin slide across it.
“Thin? I feel all right.” Li Lingjiang had already put her shoe back on. She sat upright again, her hands returning to their original posture. As she spoke, she also touched her own wrist. She had indeed lost a great deal of weight, but it was not something she could control.
Yin Wu pressed her lips tight, looking troubled. She stood and put her hands on her waist. “You still need to eat more. I brought some food for the road. Some of it is nourishing, but the process is a little troublesome, so I still need to find chances.”
She muttered to herself and arranged the plan on her own, leaving Li Lingjiang no room to speak.
Yin Wu casually removed the barrier. She sat beside Li Lingjiang, and from the outside, it looked just as before, as if the two were talking.
“Demon Lord, why not sleep for a while?” Yin Wu patted her own shoulder. “It is very reliable. Trust me.”
Looking at the shoulder Yin Wu held up, Li Lingjiang finally showed a faint smile. She lowered her expression. “No. I am not sleepy. This river is the Life-Death River. Those who enter by mistake never return. Stopping here is worse than continuing forward.”
Then she added, “But this is what they chose for themselves. Their fate is up to them.”
Yin Wu turned back to look around. The Life-Death River was a famous strange river on No-Return Mountain. Records said that every midnight, crying could be heard. Sometimes, people could even be seen bathing inside. Those who could not control themselves would naturally be swallowed.
But there were also people who were bewitched yet walked out safe and sound.
She smiled. “Demon Lord does not need to strain yourself over them.”
While the two were talking, the woman Li Lingjiang had stopped earlier had been standing at a distance, watching them. She twisted her handkerchief, and her face had gained some charm. Her steps were somewhat unlike normal walking as she came to them.
Yin Wu’s words stopped abruptly. Unhappy, she turned her head and sized up the visitor from the corner of her eye.
Heavy makeup, untidy clothes, a body full of powder scent. Who was she smiling so sweetly for?
The other party bowed slightly, her voice soft. “Fellow Cultivator Li.”
