The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 19

Chapter 19

Yin Wu gave a low “Mm.” She watched Li Lingjiang’s expression. Seeing no rejection, she grew bolder and began rubbing Li Lingjiang’s hand. The bandage was very cool, and where it fell in her palm, it gave a strange feeling of two different worlds. Yin Wu’s fingertips traced Li Lingjiang’s knuckles bit by bit. As if discovering something, she raised one brow.
Li Lingjiang’s hands were extremely beautiful. If they had not been injured, they would surely have been very pleasing to look at. Fortunately, the bandages were not too thick and did not make them look swollen. Otherwise, even Yin Wu would have had to feel regret.
The young immortal’s movements were somewhat beyond Li Lingjiang’s expectations. Her expression did not move. The demon dragon went mad for a while, its burning gaze locking onto her position. Drool slid uncontrollably from its sharp teeth and gathered into a puddle on the ground. It shook its head, sending saliva splashing everywhere and nearly scattering that group of cultivators.
Li Lingjiang frowned as she observed. She quickly pulled her hand back without encountering much resistance. Slowly, she said, “Do not get distracted.”
Li Lingjiang swept her a very quick glance and retreated slightly. Her organs were pulled, bringing a nauseating pain. Her hair fell into her collar. Her fingertip hooked lightly, and she turned her head aside to block the demon dragon’s roar.
Ling Xin’s movements were very rough. They could not even be called beautiful. He pulled out his blade and leaped up, his toes landing on the rough scales. Dodging the sharp spines, he raised the blade high and drove it down with force. Without magic, the tip of the blade could not pierce the thick armor at once. The demon dragon was provoked and began thrashing wildly. Ling Xin clicked his tongue in displeasure, flipped down, and landed steadily beside Wuzhi.
The demon dragon’s breathing through its nose grew much heavier. It turned toward Li Lingjiang, opened its bloody mouth wide, and roared at her.
Wuzhi drew a soft whip from his waist. He was a beast spirit, and what he used more often were illusions. His wings secretly spread and shook, powder falling casually onto the soft whip. He swung the whip with some unfamiliarity and exchanged a glance with the other two. Li Lingjiang still could not be harmed, and this group of humans had to be protected.
They were gods from the various realms.
They were not bound, yet they still followed this rule.
A blush rose at the corners of Wuzhi’s eyes. Only now did he show a little of the charm that belonged to him. The soft whip coiled around his hand several times. His gaze sank. In the instant dust and smoke flew, he flashed past. The whip wrapped around the demon dragon’s neck like a snake. He was dragged into the air and spun several times, then pulled the whip tight with force, blue veins standing out on his hands.
Feng Luan no longer had those few traces of gentleness. The aura around him drew inward, and a jade flute turned between his fingers. He gripped the flute and gave it a shake. An almost imperceptible white light made the jade flute glow transparent.
His ankle moved. In the next second, he sprinted, rose into the air, and landed steadily on the soft whip. He played the jade flute. The tune that rang out was strange and uncanny. Most of the cultivators who heard it felt the meridians throughout their bodies smooth out quite a bit. Only a few frowned almost invisibly. When they looked over again, their eyes were full of heat. This was the Demon-Controlling Tune.
Feng Luan did not put much magic into the playing. He was coordinating with Wuzhi. His figure was elegant as he stood in midair without hurry. The powder glittered in the empty space.
This did not affect Ling Xin much. He retreated to one side and quietly waited for the final blow. He was only somewhat worried about Li Lingjiang’s condition.
They quickly guessed the reason for the demon dragon’s attack. Though the dragon was a great tonic, it also showed how badly hollowed out Li Lingjiang was. The wounds on her body healed very slowly. She was completely hanging on by one breath.
Ling Xin looked toward the endless No-Return Mountain, and the worry in his heart grew even heavier. He lowered his eyes and hid the emotion that had shown on the surface.
Qi San could not easily act. Most of his methods were talismans. What could suppress the demon clan was mostly ghost energy, but this could not be exposed outside. He quickly came to Li Lingjiang, who was being held by Yin Wu, and asked in a low voice, “Demon Lord, are you all right?”
“It is fine.” Li Lingjiang’s inner ear ached faintly. She pressed the tip of her tongue forward, and a small smear of bright red fell into both their eyes. Yin Wu anxiously tried to wipe it, but Li Lingjiang wiped it away as if nothing had happened. Specks of blood also stained the once-white gauze.
Qi San frowned deeply at the sight. He had interacted with Li Lingjiang very little, but from the bottom of his heart, he still respected her. He turned, his hands hidden beneath his black robe forming a spell. Silently, he gathered ghost energy to separate her from the battlefield. He tilted his head and said, “Demon Lord, let us handle it. You and those cultivators should stand together.”
Li Lingjiang caught her breath a little. She calmly looked over and saw that the illusion and Demon-Controlling Tune had already taken effect. She nodded and only said, “Thank you for the trouble.”
The demon dragon’s eyes gradually grew dazed. Its tail swung much less. Seeing this, Feng Luan’s eyes also filled with a smile. It was only a demon dragon. It did not pose much threat. He noticed Qi San leading Li Lingjiang away and cooperated as much as possible to make the demon dragon avoid her.
But Li Lingjiang had only just left the demon dragon’s sight when she saw the terror in everyone’s eyes. She abruptly turned around. Yin Wu stood not far away, as if also shocked by the scene before her.
Wuzhi’s illusions were among the best, and his cultivation was not low. He and Feng Luan had been restraining this monster, but unexpectedly, in a single instant, the demon dragon’s eyes became so red they seemed to weep blood, chilling the heart. Its teeth ground together, and its tail rose high, smashing toward Ling Xin.
Ling Xin shifted aside and dodged smoothly. His expression did not change. Instead, a hint of investigation appeared as he looked over.
The demon dragon struggled hard against the soft whip binding it. It whimpered nonstop and actually endured the pain to turn and bite the scales on its own body. Tender pink flesh was exposed, and in an instant, it began to rot. Demonic energy had already backfired through this entire dragon.
It chewed its own scales with cracking sounds. What had once seemed majestic now became hateful. Its cultivation seemed to surge greatly. It began dragging people toward the crowd, each heavy step landing dully on the ground.
Wuzhi tightened the soft whip again. Yin Wu also threw out the red thread once more to hold the demon dragon’s waist and abdomen. Feng Luan flew down to the ground and said sternly, “Ling Xin, this is your job.”
Ling Xin glanced at him and gave a cold snort. “I know that.”
He flew down, and his blade fell straight onto the exposed rotten flesh.
Wen Si also noticed the target had changed. He immediately called out, “Form the array!”
Several disciples formed a sword array together, protecting the group from the front.
They watched warily.
But the demon dragon suddenly stopped moving. It seemed to tug its skin, and the scales on its body began falling with rustling sounds. In the mist, they gave off a tempting shine.
The crowd suddenly fell silent. Someone spoke. “What is that?”
“That… those are dragon scales!”
“Legend says dragon scales can cure a hundred illnesses. If one could get even one piece-”
“Dragon scales! They are dragon scales!”
The erupting voices came together with unfocused eyes. Many people could not steady themselves and actually tried to rush out of the sword array like mad. Some were pulled back by companions, but those left alone ran out beyond control. Li Lingjiang reacted quickly and grabbed several people. Looking at the demon dragon, which was injured to the point it almost could not stand, she understood what it meant to do.
It wanted to sacrifice human blood to raise its strength.
Even if it was only a final flare before death, it could still fight with its life.
A human-devouring art was forbidden.
Li Lingjiang’s finger bones tightened. She grabbed one person’s hair and forcefully dragged them toward herself. She looked down at that person. Animal fur had actually begun to grow on her face. The change lasted only a breath, but the red in her eyes grew even deeper. That person abruptly trembled all over, as if finally coming back to themselves, and fell to the ground, swallowing with a blank gaze.
She threw some of the people into Qi San’s arms. “Troubling you.”
She stepped forward. The Jade-Bone Fan covered half her face, hiding the abnormal change there. In a low voice, she said, “Ling Xin, kill it.”
Ling Xin no longer held the playful attitude from before. He looked at Wuzhi, and his movement technique was no longer hidden.
This was a disaster from the demon clan. He had to solve it.
The demon dragon’s eyes widened slightly, as if it understood something. Its broken body struggled. Just as it was about to raise its head, the blade fell directly into its eye socket. Wuzhi took the chance and flicked his wrist. The soft whip tightened through the splashing blood and directly strangled off half its neck. He looked coldly at the ashen corpse and walked straight over.
Yin Wu withdrew the red thread. The scales that had fallen from the demon dragon no longer gave off light. She quickly came to Li Lingjiang’s side. Playfulness flashed in her eyes. Beneath Li Lingjiang’s eyes was a tasteless emptiness that could not be hidden. Her face had blended quite a bit with her white hair.
Li Lingjiang lowered her head. Her hair fell into Yin Wu’s robe. She called softly, “Yin Wu.”
