The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 18

Chapter 18

More nervous than Li Lingjiang were the people being protected. Their suppressed cries of terror made her unable to stop herself from turning slightly and frowning. With cold eyes, she raised her head to meet those huge dragon pupils. All the spines on the demon dragon’s back had risen. The breath from its nose blew Li Lingjiang’s robes into motion. The dragon raised its head and howled. Its cry pierced the cloud-packed sky and echoed for a long time.
Li Lingjiang reached out and directly pressed down the two restless dragons, pulling them onto her shoulders. She lowered her eyes in a silent warning.
Then she lifted her gaze. Her ears stood upright, the fur blown open by the wind. A little red appeared in Li Lingjiang’s eyes. It was very faint, but she quickly caught sight of the red thread binding the demon dragon’s neck, embedded in its thick scales.
Yin Wu’s palm had already been squeezed until it changed shape, yet she still hurried to check on Li Lingjiang and shouted, “Demon Lord, dodge!”
Ling Xin silently released demonic energy to intimidate the dragon. For now, they could not act rashly.
Looking at Wen Si’s side, once they realized the demon dragon’s main target was actually Li Lingjiang, they all retreated and quickly opened distance. Someone sobbed in terror, but Wen Si glared hard at them. “Shut up! Is this not chaotic enough? This monster is not here for us. Those with cultivation, come with me to help. This is only the first battle. We cannot lose trust now.”
Several disciples of the Immortal-Entering Sect stepped forward and drew their swords. Just as they were about to move, Little Black flew over and roared, blocking them. A wyrm’s body could also change size. The black dragon grew a little larger, opened its mouth, and showed sharp teeth, stopping them so thoroughly they could not move an inch.
Someone felt confused and angry and questioned it. “What is this? We came to help.”
Li Lingjiang’s beast ears flicked. She glanced over faintly, raised two fingers toward them, and waved, telling them not to move rashly. She thought back over the past few days. Yin Wu had probably secretly ground up the inner core of that demon dragon and fed it to her. The demon clan valued blood ties. It was fair enough for a life to come seeking another life. But unexpectedly, it had gone mad directly.
Her tone pressed down quite a bit, showing some chill. “You want to eat me? You are not qualified.”
After saying this, Li Lingjiang dodged to the side. Her body landed lightly on a stone that had been lifted. She subtly covered the wound that had been pulled and narrowed her eyes slightly. She opened the Jade-Bone Fan and covered half her face, watching as the demon dragon broke free from its bindings and bit empty air. She hooked her lips in a smile, though it held no deeper meaning.
Her ankle used force. Amid Yin Wu’s cry of alarm, she tapped lightly off her footholds and swiftly closed in on Feng Luan and the others. Ling Xin was skilled with a blade. Seeing the situation, he rose into the air and drove it straight into the demon dragon’s tail. Foul-smelling blood sprayed out.
His gaze flickered, and he turned aside to avoid the corrosive blood.
Ling Xin was surprised for a few seconds. He licked the corner of his lips, then directly threw out the blade and pinned the tail to the ground.
The demon dragon raised its head in pain. Its hateful eyes looked over. With force, its whole body swelled. Its muscles trembled as it tore its tail free. The surrounding barren mountains and broken stones were swept into disorder by its tail, and choking dust filled the air.
Some people were hit by shattered bits of stone and could not help crying out softly.
Li Lingjiang turned the Jade-Bone Fan in her wrist. The wind it raised instantly blew away quite a lot. She turned to face forward. With a sweep of her sleeve, she loosely covered her face. Bending halfway at the waist, she used slight force in her ankle when she landed. She retreated, and her waist and abdomen were caught tightly by someone, stopping her firmly on the ground at once.
Yin Wu’s fingers were long and powerful. When she held Li Lingjiang, Li Lingjiang actually could not break free. Since it tugged at her wounds, she was unwilling to use force and tear them open. Without turning back, she softened her voice and said, “Yin Wu, I am fine.”
Remembering something, she turned her eyes downward. “How is your hand?”
Yin Wu grew hesitant and vague. She forced a smile. “It is no trouble, Demon Lord. I failed to protect you properly.”
Li Lingjiang’s expression became somewhat subtle, but in the end, she said nothing more. This red thread was no ordinary object. With Yin Wu’s cultivation, being able to use it like this already showed talent. After trapping the demon dragon, it had broken free, which clearly meant her strength was insufficient and her cultivation could not keep up. Her hand was likely injured badly. Li Lingjiang breathed out. They could discuss it after the situation settled.
She was startled for a moment by the demon dragon blood splashing out and did not notice Yin Wu’s darkened face. Yin Wu’s other hand was wrapped with red thread as she thought about how to deal with this eyesore in the most perfect way.
Li Lingjiang did not avoid Yin Wu’s hand. Her gaze remained on the demon dragon. This monster had clearly gone berserk. Its flesh had begun rotting from the inside. Unlike a normal demon dragon, it had long since lost its mind. No wonder it had aimed straight at her. It was probably not here to seek vengeance, but to devour its own child and raise its cultivation.
The Jade-Bone Fan closed quietly under a push of her fingers. Before she could act, Yin Wu murmured something beside her and held her hand. Li Lingjiang turned her head in confusion and met Yin Wu’s eyes directly. Because of the slight difference in height, the young immortal’s warm breath fell between her brows and eyes. There was still some distance between them. Li Lingjiang drew in a breath, moved her face away without expression, and only said,
“Do not go yet. Stay beside me.”
