Yin Wu walked to the front of the group and stretched out her hand, looking at them as if waiting for praise. “Want some?”
Ling Xin looked at the meat strips in her hand with some suspicion. “What are they made of?”
“Demon dragon meat.” Yin Wu was completely open about it.
Ling Xin: “…”
Feng Luan: “?”
His eyes turned strange. “Demon dragons are huge things. You killed it?”
Yin Wu was still chewing. She nodded and met their examining gazes without fear. “Yes. Though it was already badly injured then, I still spent a lot of effort. After all, demon dragon is good for Demon Lord’s body. I was injured too.”
She rolled up her sleeve and showed the bandaged wound.
No one knew whether it was coincidence, but she seemed to deliberately push it toward Ling Xin.
Ling Xin had followed Li Lingjiang for so long. How could he fail to recognize whose technique this was?
His tone carried a little sourness. “You really are good to Demon Lord.”
Yin Wu shrugged. “Of course. Demon Lord did save my life.”
After saying that, she smiled and handed the meat forward, as if there was nothing unusual in her words. “Try some. I feel like drying it with magic still leaves the flavor a little lacking.”
No one knew where Wuzhi reached out from, but he quickly took two strips and stuffed one into Ling Xin’s mouth. “Try it. She is offering it with good intentions.”
Secretly, he pinched Ling Xin’s shoulder, signaling for him to calm down.
Ling Xin’s eyes darkened. He took it fiercely and directly bit off a large mouthful. After a few seconds, he raised his brows and gave a dry evaluation. “It tastes good.”
Hearing this, the others also took some to try. Feng Luan, who had watched for a long time, held a meat strip that did not look especially good, lowered his head, and sniffed it. Not quite at ease, he bit a small mouthful. His tongue turned it over, and he sincerely said, “Your cooking is not bad. It is not fishy.”
Qi San, who had been standing quietly to the side, suddenly spoke. “Rabbits eat meat too?”
Yin Wu’s eyes sharpened, and she looked over with the gaze of someone watching a show.
Hearing this, Feng Luan’s finger bones cracked. He smiled. “Ghosts can touch things? Impressive.”
Qi San was stabbed by this remark. He stared blankly for a few seconds, not knowing how he had angered this person. The black robe stirred slightly in the wind, and his voice was scattered by it. “Bald rabbit.”
Ling Xin and Wuzhi, who were watching the show, turned away and pretended nothing had happened while holding back laughter. Feng Luan was almost exploding with anger. Furious, he turned his back and used an illusion spell on himself, grieving as he touched his two bald ears.
The two walked one ahead and one behind. Qi San slowed his steps. Too lazy to argue, he simply put some distance between them.
Yin Wu found it interesting. Smiling, she leaned toward Wen Si. A flash of cruelty passed through her eyes. “Want some? It is good stuff. Nourishes the body.”
“No, thank you,” Wen Si refused.
“Is that so?” Yin Wu’s smile carried a little chill. Her voice was neither heavy nor light. “I remember I once reminded you not to touch the things in the yard casually. You touched the Allure Flowers, didn’t you? Be careful. This can relieve some of the medicinal effect. If you do not want it, that is on you.”
Wen Si’s heart startled. Yin Wu had indeed pushed open the window after they settled down and impatiently warned them. But not many people listened. Only because the flowers belonged to the Demon Realm did no one dare touch them.
At the time, he had only smelled them. Yet she had noticed.
His eyes turned. Hurriedly, he stopped her and bent apologetically at the waist. “Young Friend Li, I offended you.”
Yin Wu made a small “Mm” and still smiled as she gave it to him. Softly, she said, “Remember to give some to the others. Allure Flowers easily cause illusions. Next time, remember to be careful.”
She tilted her head. “May our journey go smoothly.”
After saying this, Yin Wu did not look at his expression. Disdain passed over her face. She had just started walking back when she suddenly looked toward one place ahead. Her eyes tightened, and she became dark and fierce. She called in a low voice, “Demon Lord!”
Ling Xin and the other three sensed something wrong at the same time. They abruptly turned back. The people hidden in the crowd also became alert. They gripped their weapons and drew them out a little.
Li Lingjiang, who had fallen to the rear of the crowd, moved her beast ears inward. She swept a glance behind her from the corner of her eye. The Jade-Bone Fan neatly covered half her face as she stared sharply at the huge dark-yellow eye slowly appearing.
The crowd began to stir. Li Lingjiang stood still, and very quickly, distance opened between her and them.
This was a demon dragon.
And it was an adult one. Li Lingjiang estimated that its strength was not too bad.
These people would not have too much trouble dealing with it, especially with Feng Luan and the others here.
The demon dragon gradually revealed its full appearance. Its body was nearly five meters tall and almost fifteen meters long. Black scales shone even through the thick fog, and its eyes carried heavy pressure. It blew out a breath. Li Lingjiang tilted her face slightly, and her hair instantly grew somewhat messy. Her robes streamed backward. She watched it without a ripple, and the pressure of having been a ruler for several thousand years came in waves.
The demon dragon also lowered its head and stared hard at Li Lingjiang. It opened its mouth. Several thick, sharp teeth were enough to chill the heart. Between the teeth, remains of corpses could still be clearly seen.
Li Lingjiang closed the fan. She frowned almost imperceptibly and suddenly felt that its body looked like something she had seen somewhere before.
Before the standoff between person and dragon could reach a result, Yin Wu hurried to Li Lingjiang’s side. She grabbed Li Lingjiang’s wrist and pulled her behind herself, while she stepped forward to block in front. The bright red thread was loosely wound around her fingers, yet somehow suited her.
Most of Li Lingjiang’s view was blocked by Yin Wu. From where she stood, it even seemed as if Yin Wu’s body was trembling.
Was she afraid?
Li Lingjiang raised her hand and was about to place it on Yin Wu’s shoulder when Yin Wu turned back in terror and carefully said, “This looks a lot like the demon dragon I hunted. It would not… be from the same family, right?”
The four who had rushed over after hearing the noise: “…”
Feng Luan still held half a strip of meat in his hand and did not know whether to eat it or throw it away.
Li Lingjiang paused. Her fingertips shrank back, and only then did she know where the familiar feeling had come from. So family had come seeking revenge.
This place was not a demon dragon’s habitat. It had probably followed the scent.
The Jade-Bone Fan in her hand closed and opened again. Her voice moved only among the few of them. “Do not expose too much. Avoid using spells as much as possible. There are a few among these people who can fight.”
Yin Wu took over her words while still protecting her from the front. “Demon Lord, step back. Be careful not to get hurt.”
Li Lingjiang was silent for a moment. She did not say yes or no, only silently turned and walked back. The few people she had chosen also rushed out from the crowd and surrounded the area. Wen Si was among them.
He looked at Li Lingjiang suspiciously. “You are not going forward?”
“Me?” Li Lingjiang very naturally tidied her hair and seemed to laugh lightly. “I am already this sick and weak. If I go up and drag everyone down, that would not be good.”
She slowly walked forward. Just as she stepped out, the sound of earth cracking instantly shook the heavens and ground. A huge chunk of soil fell from above, as if about to smash onto her. Several cries of alarm made her steps slow.
The black dragon on her shoulder immediately blocked in front of her and roared angrily, its wings rustling.
Li Lingjiang abruptly turned around and met a pair of eyes already turned blood-red. Facing wind and sand, the demon dragon closed in on her in an instant.
