Running Off With The Sect Senior Sister Chapter 74

The Past

Beside a curved lotus pond, a cradle rested within a waterside pavilion. An infant lay inside, tear stains on its face, its expression a little troubled.
“Why is there no way to watch over you?”
“What should I do?” That person rested their chin on their hand, lost in thought. After a moment, they watched the infant stir awake. It started to wrinkle its nose, about to cry again. “Let’s find someone to watch over you.”
The infant woke up. Its big, dark, shining eyes were like purple grapes, and tears kept streaming down.
It was as if someone had pressed a pause button. A snot bubble formed at the tip of its nose, and tears welled up, suspended in its eyes, unmoving.
But then, the tears instantly spilled from its eyes. The infant seemed to be able to move again, and its cries grew even louder.
The person couldn’t help but press their forehead.
The child’s voice was choked with sobs, hiccuping continuously, looking utterly wronged.
“Don’t cry.” Finally, the man picked up the child. “If I’d known, I wouldn’t have brought you over.”
The man muttered to himself, full of regret. Born from primordial chaos, he had been utterly bored and so had created a world.
This infant was a child of this world. It was just that the child was too young. He had been watching from the lotus pond, and hadn’t expected the child to be so fussy and cry endlessly.
He had initially thought of just ignoring it, but he felt a bit reluctant to.
“Number One, come take a look!”
The Main God said to a young girl, “Her name is Yun Shayi.”
The young girl’s eyes moved slowly. Her face was a little stiff as she slowly walked to the cradle. The infant, who had been sucking its fingers and sobbing, instantly stopped crying.
“It seems she likes you very much.” The Main God declared, “Then it’s settled. You will take care of her from now on!”
The Main God’s figure disappeared from sight. Luo Yi pressed her lips together, her palms clenching and unclenching. After a long moment, she finally approached the baby girl.
The child seemed very curious about the young girl who had suddenly appeared. Its big eyes widened slightly, finger still in its mouth, looking rather comical. Luo Yi tilted her head. This body of hers was a bit inflexible; it had been newly made by the Main God and was very stiff.
She very carefully reached out. The baby giggled at her touch, its laughter like tinkling bells.
Suddenly, a small hand grabbed Luo Yi’s finger and tried to stuff it into its mouth.
Luo Yi froze.
The Main God reappeared before Luo Yi.
“What’s wrong?”
Luo Yi shook her head and hid her hand behind her back.
A trace of surprise flashed across the Main God’s face. The infant lay in the cradle, sleeping soundly, drool trickling from the corner of its mouth.
“She’s actually well-behaved this time. Usually, she’s incredibly noisy.”
“Why are you hiding your hand behind you?”
The Main God asked Luo Yi.
Luo Yi showed no expression, merely lowering her head respectfully.
However, her hand rose as if beyond her control. Her index finger was clearly missing a section.
The Main God frowned. “What happened to your finger?”
Luo Yi lowered her head, her lips moving slightly. “I was careless.”
The Main God realized. “So, she was hungry.”
The Main God didn’t need to eat, but Yun Shayi, despite being the child of a world, was still just an infant and needed sustenance.
He had let her go hungry like this for several days…
His gaze turned back to Luo Yi. “Aren’t there lotus roots in the pond? Why did you let her eat a piece of yourself instead?”
Luo Yi paused. “Dirty.”
The Main God looked at Luo Yi.
A drop of golden essence emerged from the Main God’s core. The severed section of her finger instantly regenerated.
The Main God’s voice sounded from above, “Next time, don’t offer your own finger for her to eat.”
“Mm.” Luo Yi’s eyes brightened, and she nodded vigorously.

“Senior Sister.” Yun Shayi’s tears streamed down as she looked at the sleeping Luo Yi, calling out to her ceaselessly.
Luo Yi’s eyelashes fluttered. Her vision was somewhat blurry, but she could still make out a pair of terribly swollen, red eyes.
“Yun Shayi,” Luo Yi called out, her voice a bit hoarse. “Why are you crying again? Just like when you were little.”
Tears still flowed down Yun Shayi’s face, but she smiled, her eyes curving. “I thought you wouldn’t wake up.”
Luo Yi’s gaze softened. “And if I hadn’t woken up? What would you have done?”
Yun Shayi glared at her, fiercely wiping away her tears. Her tone was aggressive. “Then I would have just kept calling you, shouting your name, until I annoyed you to death!”
Luo Yi rested her chin on Yun Shayi’s shoulder. “Alright,” she said softly, “I’m not leaving.”
I won’t.

Luo Tangtang stood to one side, watching the two on the bed with a complicated expression.
‘So, I was created from the very beginning just to raise a child?’
‘You could… say that,’ the system nodded, its tone also a bit awkward.
‘Like a child bride, you could say.’
Luo Tangtang’s expression shifted. So Luo Yi was just a drop of the Main God’s golden blood? Is that why he could destroy her at will?
But why? Why treat them like that from the beginning?
