Running Off With The Sect Senior Sister Chapter 71

Real or Fake

“Senior Sister, I’ll take you away.” Yun Shayi’s arms around Luo Tangtang tightened. But it was no use; Luo Tangtang was unnaturally pale, her body seeming as if it would dissipate at any moment.
“What do I do… What should I do?” Yun Shayi froze, tears streaming down her face. She was going to lose her Senior Sister.
“Luo Er, Luo Er!” Yun Shayi suddenly seemed to remember something. She jerked her head up as if grasping at a lifeline, muttering to herself, her dull gray eyes instantly brightening.
Luo Er looked at Yun Shayi and Luo Tangtang, who had suddenly appeared before her, and instantly jumped up. “How did it become like this?”
Luo Er looked at the two in a bit of a panic. Luo Tangtang was unconscious in Yun Shayi’s arms, and both were soaked in blood. Fresh blood was still dripping from their clothes onto the ground, making Luo Er’s heart pound wildly.
“Luo Er, help me, help me.” Yun Shayi stared fixedly at Luo Er. She was clutching Luo Tangtang so tightly that Luo Er felt Yun Shayi might tear her apart.
Luo Er’s gaze fell on Luo Tangtang. The blood wasn’t hers. Although her face was pale, her breathing was long and steady.
Her eyes lit up with joy, and she exclaimed, “This is great! I guess the mission is complete, and we can go back.”
After saying this, Luo Er looked relieved. “Luo Yi hasn’t had it easy, but she can finally escape this godforsaken world. This is cause for celebration.”
“What do you mean by that?” Yun Shayi demanded sharply.
“Hmm?” Luo Er raised an eyebrow, looking at Yun Shayi with some amusement. “I don’t mean anything by it. It’s just that Luo Yi can go home. Shouldn’t you be happy for her?”
“Go home? What home? The Supreme Immortal Sect is her home.”
“You’re just deceiving yourself,” Luo Er said lightly.
“We were here to complete a mission in the first place. Now that it’s done, of course we have to go back. We won’t stay here, and certainly not for any particular person.”
A roaring sound filled Yun Shayi’s mind. Her pupils suddenly contracted. The person in her arms dissipated like a puff of smoke…
“How is she gone… How is she gone?” Yun Shayi stared at her own hands, her whole body trembling. There was nothing in those hands, only stains of blood.
Luo Er watched her frenzied state, sighed, her expression complex. The next moment, she too disappeared.
In the wide cave, only hysterical shouts and screams remained, echoing for a long, long time.
Luo Tangtang felt her body was very light, like a withered leaf floating on water. A gentle breeze, and she would lose her way. A sudden sensation of weightlessness came over her. Luo Tangtang’s heart leaped, and she instantly opened her eyes.
It really was weightlessness! Luo Tangtang fell directly from mid-air.
“Where is this?” Luo Tangtang’s eyes widened.
‘The continuation.’ Someone said this beside her ear.
It was the System!
Luo Tangtang’s expression suddenly became complicated. “Luo Er,” she said softly.
The other party was silent for a moment, then replied, “Yes.”
Just as Luo Tangtang was about to ask about Yun Shayi, she saw a faint figure walking up from below, step by step, its pace slow yet steady.
“Main God,” that Luo Yi spoke.
“You’ve returned.”
“Yes.” Luo Yi’s face showed confusion and a hint of unconcealable sorrow.
“Number One,” the Main God, seated on a high throne, said calmly, “The mission was completed very well.”
Luo Yi seemed stunned for a moment. “My Lord, what about Yun Shayi?”
“She, naturally, is in her own world.”
Luo Yi lowered her head. After a long while, the confusion in her eyes deepened. “My Lord, have I perhaps met her before?”
It was self-evident who “her” referred to.
Met Yun Shayi before? Luo Tangtang, standing to one side, was a little stunned.
“Yes,” the Main God answered. It seemed he had no intention of hiding it, but also no desire to say more.
Luo Yi pressed her lips together. To make it easier for them, the systems, to complete their missions, the Main God would always give them some “emotions” they shouldn’t have.
But now that the mission was complete and the emotions had been extracted, why did she feel sad? What made her even more lost was that, deep in her memory, strange images would inexplicably flash through her mind—images that included Yun Shayi.
“Someone will naturally take care of things from now on. You may leave.” The Main God disappeared.
Luo Tangtang watched Luo Yi walk to the edge of a crescent-shaped pool. Luo Yi leaned gently against one side, watching as a few carp occasionally leaped from the water’s surface.
“Number One.” Luo Er arrived and sat beside her. “What are you thinking about?”
“Nothing.” Luo Yi turned her face away, her gaze falling on the water’s surface. A water lily floated there, pure white and flawless, its petals translucent and exceedingly beautiful.
Luo Er pouted. “Are you thinking about Yun Shayi?”
Luo Yi remained expressionless and said nothing.
‘System,’ Luo Tangtang called out, somewhat impatiently.
‘Keep watching,’ the System replied.
Luo Tangtang’s head ached terribly. She could only turn her gaze back to the two people by the pool.
“I’m not,” Luo Yi said, lowering her gaze.
Luo Er looked thoroughly unconvinced. “You’re not? Then why come to the Lotus Pond? Who are you kidding? Don’t you just want to see how Yun Shayi is doing?”
The Lotus Pond could display various small worlds, making it convenient for the systems to understand the situations in each small world in real-time.
Luo Yi looked up, her eyes flickering.
“Then look. The Main God isn’t here, and I won’t go snitching.” Luo Er puffed her cheeks, resting her chin on her hand. She was also a little worried.
She was an assistant in this operation. The Main God hadn’t stripped away too many of her emotions, so she still had some feelings left.
She waved her small hand.
“?”
She waved it again.
“…”
Luo Er’s eyes widened. “Why isn’t it working?”
The surface of the pond remained calm, without a single ripple.
Luo Yi frowned. “Forget it. Perhaps it’s because I used the power of chaos.”
She rubbed the space between her eyebrows, her face full of exhaustion.
“Then you should go sleep for a while.” Luo Er looked at Luo Yi with some worry. “You were too reckless. The energy consumption this time was huge.”
Luo Yi nodded. She was indeed tired.
But she didn’t know how long she would sleep this time. A barely perceptible worry flickered in Luo Yi’s eyes.
‘She’s going to sleep just like that?’ Luo Tangtang thought. In the world Luo Yi had created, other things had happened—things that made even her feel suffocated and desperate.
‘Yes,’ the System replied softly.
‘I will take you directly to three hundred years later.’
The scene changed, and Luo Tangtang was surprised to find herself in the Supreme Immortal Sect.
“Cultivate? What’s there to cultivate?” someone sneered. “Our lives are already predetermined. What’s the point?”
Two people who looked like elders seemed to be arguing.
“That one has it good. Says ‘start over’ and just starts over. What about us?”
“Who cares about you?” one of them said, looking somewhat dejected. “She’s the World’s Core, the protagonist. She can do whatever she wants.”
“Us? We’re just insignificant clowns at best. Who would care about you?”
A silence fell after he spoke.
Luo Tangtang’s heart tightened slightly.
Yun Shayi? What does ‘start over’ mean?
“Heh, speaking of which, we should actually be grateful,” one of them said again.
“At the very least, our world has stabilized. Although our fates are sealed, they’ve also been indirectly preserved.”
“Preserved my ass!” a curse rang out.
‘This… what on earth happened?’ Luo Tangtang had a bad feeling.
I need to find Yun Shayi. Luo Tangtang wanted to run, but found her limbs wouldn’t obey her, as if she were a puppet on strings, her arms and legs stiff.
‘Watch slowly.’
Luo Tangtang slowly clenched her teeth, a grinding sound escaping.
‘I don’t have a physical body. You can’t bite me. Better watch out for your teeth!’
Luo Tangtang’s eyes were bloodshot. “I don’t have a physical body either, but I’ll still bite!”
System: “…”
Suddenly, more people appeared, coming and going. Everyone wore a strange expression.
“Let’s go to the Goddess Temple. There, your destiny will be revealed to you.” A peculiar yet gentle female voice, tinged with allure, echoed in everyone’s mind.
“Idiots, the brainwashing is starting again,” that elder looked furious and cursed loudly.
The person beside him quickly grabbed him. “Keep your voice down.”
Qi Wei roared, “If this destiny is already set, it’s not something this so-called goddess can change! If destiny truly can be changed, then what’s wrong with me changing it myself?”
“Ah!” The Deacon Elder clutched his head in exasperation. This really isn’t easy for him.
“Tell those brats not to go to the Goddess Temple! If I find out, I’ll break their legs!” Qi Wei roared again.
“Alright, alright, alright!” The Deacon Elder grimaced.
Dealing with one of the so-called Eight Great Revered Ones every day, and he has absolutely no sway! If this goes on, he might as well just go to the library and never come out for the rest of his life!
A figure in white robes, with dark hair and silver pupils.
It was Luo Yi!
Luo Tangtang’s eye twitched. ‘No, that’s not Luo Yi, is it!’
‘Correct. It’s not. It’s Luo Si.’
Another figure appeared beside her—Luo Er.
Luo Tangtang ventured, ‘Luo San?’
‘Correct.’ The System’s voice was also a little heavy this time.
‘So this is what the Main God meant by ‘someone will take care of things from now on’?’
Luo Tangtang suddenly felt a wave of anger and disgust, mixed with irritation and anxiety, like a rising tide threatening to drown her.
‘Then what about the original you… and me?’
The scene suddenly shifted again.
In the small pavilion by the Lotus Pond, Luo Yi was slumped over a table, her eyes tightly shut.
‘Those things… were they done by Number Three and Number Four?’ Luo Tangtang asked, trembling.
‘Yes. The Main God destroyed all of Number Four’s emotions. She has no feelings now and won’t show any mercy to Yun Shayi and the others,’ the System said after a moment of silence.
“Then… what about Yun Shayi?” Luo Tangtang asked with difficulty.
“She chose to seal all her memories and start over, again and again.”
“Wanting to wait for you again.”
“And in the end, she got Number Three and Number Four, is that it? Did she think I did all those things?” Tears welled up and streamed down her face before she knew it.
‘What she hates you for was never these things.’ The System shook its head. ‘Keep watching. You will understand everything. These matters have dragged on for so long; it’s time for a resolution.’
Luo Tangtang closed her eyes. Her body sank, plunging to the bottom of a lake.
When she opened her eyes again, all she saw was a scene of carnage.
“Senior Sister, why did you do this?” Yun Shayi was covered in blood, her eyes lifeless.
