The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 37

Chapter 37

Li Lingjiang did not know whether she believed it or not. She covered her mouth with her sleeve and said she was tired. Yin Wu felt that she still had a slight fever, so she said nothing more and watched over her until she fell asleep.
Yin Wu stood before Li Lingjiang, her eyes hidden in the night. She opened her lips and whispered, “Under my protection.”
A halo of light appeared at her fingertips and circled around Li Lingjiang. Then she took a few steps back, directly picked up the black dragon, and tossed him beneath Li Lingjiang. The dragon, suddenly flying for no reason, opened his eyes in confusion, having no idea where he was.
Yin Wu glanced at Little White and strode out. Many people had fallen asleep leaning against the walls. The remaining four were secretly playing mahjong. The moment they saw her come over, they immediately tried to hide it.
Yin Wu: “…”
Ling Xin coughed against his lips. His expression was calm. “Is My Lord better?”
“The fever is down. She is still sleeping.” Yin Wu did not move. Her gaze fell straight outside the cave. “I need to go out for a while. I will think of a way to make My Lord’s medicine into pills again.”
Wuzhi propped his chin in his hand. “You can do that too?”
Yin Wu’s tone was not pleasant, but she still answered. “I used to work as a medicine attendant. My control over magic is not precise, so some of the medicine’s effect will be reduced. But it is still better than boiling one dose every day while traveling.”
“Do it here. The night outside is deep and damp.” Wuzhi patted the ground beside him. “Come on.”
Yin Wu looked at him with an indescribable expression. “No. The medicine smell is too strong and will disturb others. Lord Wuzhi, if you beat me in one round, I will listen to you this time.”
She looked young, and her way of speaking always carried a girl’s manner. Now, seeing her seriously get angry with Wuzhi made people relax their guard for no reason. The four exchanged a look and, without planning it, glanced past her. Feng Luan laughed first and waved a hand. “Go on. Come back early.”
Yin Wu cupped her fists to the four of them and walked out without stopping. This area of ground was much larger than before, so she easily left their sight. She stopped at the place she had chosen in advance. The warmth around her from before was gone. Instead, she carried a coldness that made people not dare approach.
She curled her lips in a disdainful smile, suddenly turned, and seized a figure that had failed to escape. Her fingers tightened little by little. The sound of cracking bone could be heard clearly. An extremely ugly charm demon was stuck behind her. Its eyes bulged, staring at Yin Wu with terror and scattered focus.
It was not large and was very short. Yin Wu lifted it into the air without the slightest effort. Her eyes held a faint indifference. Only when the charm demon was about to lose its breath did she let go. She had not used much strength. She only swept it with a bored glance. “Get lost.”
The charm demon had not even caught its breath before it ran outward in panic. How could it have known it would run into such a powerful person? It had at least lived for more than a hundred years.
Yin Wu suddenly remembered something and called it back. “Wait. Come here first.”
The charm demon’s hair stood on end. It tried to pull out a smile, but that only made it uglier. Their kind of demon had always been disliked because they could transform into beautiful appearances and absorb life span to nourish themselves. The Demon Realm had long ago driven them to No-Return Mountain and ordered them not to take a single step out.
It was only a small underling sent by its leader to scout. Who knew it would suffer such a disaster? It seemed this person had discovered it long ago and simply had not cared.
Seeing it squirm and roll back, Yin Wu clicked her tongue impatiently. The charm demon immediately flew over like an arrow from a bowstring. Yin Wu naturally knew it existed, but it was still a hundred-year demon and had some ability. Judging from the group, no one had noticed it. The other four, however, had decided to tease her.
“Were you thinking of absorbing human life energy?” Yin Wu asked casually.
“No, no, no.” The charm demon shook its head like a rattle. “We only wanted to come look.”
Yin Wu stared at it.
“Fine. Actually, a female cultivator dropped a fruit earlier. We thought it was destiny, so we decided whoever ate the fruit would be the one we went to find.” The charm demon’s voice grew smaller and smaller, as if it would cry in the next second.
Yin Wu was tired of listening. She closed her palm, making it shut up. She crouched on one knee and quickly formed a hand seal. Behind her, a person exactly like her appeared, diligently boiling medicine. She hooked her finger. “Stay here and do not move. You know better than I do what you should do.”
The charm demon nodded obediently.
She drew a line across the charm demon’s mouth and placed a restriction on it. After studying it carefully, she still felt it did not look right. Yin Wu touched her chin, then reached out again and punched it twice. She smiled innocently. “I will be back soon.”
As soon as she finished speaking, she had already reached the mountain edge. Yin Wu leaned back lightly, and in an instant, her figure vanished.
The charm demon silently cried in place. Watching its companions sneak inside, it silently prayed for them. Bearing humiliation, it crouched with its face swollen from the beating.
The roaring wind blew past Yin Wu’s ears. She spread her hand and flipped in midair, then landed lightly with a calm face. She tucked her hair behind her ear. A tiny flame lit at her fingertip and leaned in one direction.
After estimating the position, she walked forward. This was the back side of Beiluan Mountain. The place where they would land afterward was at the end, and a restriction had also been placed here. From outside, everything one saw was false.
Yin Wu stepped over bones scattered across the ground, brushed dust from her body, and stopped at one place. She reached out and touched the stone wall. The next moment, she felt resistance.
“Is it here?” Yin Wu raised her brow. Flames began rising from her palm. In the thick mist, they looked like a light of hope. Her lips parted slightly. “Heaven and earth follow me; all beings return to their places.”
A huge restriction slowly appeared before her. Dense spells and restrictions strengthened by each Demon Venerable began twisting. Yin Wu casually waved her hand. Her hands formed seals extremely quickly. When a gap slowly appeared in the mountain, she walked in. The seal filled the gap behind her without missing even a breath.
Yin Wu still hid her aura. She was under too many restrictions now and also feared alerting others, so she had to patch it again. As she moved, spell marks faintly appeared and vanished on her sleeves, as if carved deep into her blood.
She looked at the empty blackness ahead. Rarely, amid all this murderous aura, she found a trace of pleasure. She had not originally thought of this place. Even when the thought had occurred to her, she had set it aside, thinking it should remain a trump card. Who knew so many changes would happen? She could not estimate Li Lingjiang’s condition well.
She also feared it might tamper with things. The restrictions on Li Lingjiang’s body still had to be strengthened again. This blood bead had been nourished in the Demon Realm for so many years. It was also the best way to nourish someone without being easily noticed. To be safe, she would use it.
The red thread slowly slid from Yin Wu’s arm. When it fell to the ground, it sank in. In the next second came the sharp sounds and screams of something being burned to death. The soul bones threw the red thread back out. Countless twisted faces and pairs of terrifying eyes gradually appeared in the darkness.
Yin Wu laughed softly. Her tone lifted as she said in a low voice, “Long time no see, everyone.”
In an instant, piercing cries rose all around her. Twisted bodies finally appeared before her one by one. Their eyes were already swollen with red veins, and their lower bodies had all become nothingness. Yin Wu leisurely snapped her fingers. The surroundings were no longer empty. They became raging flames, crackling as they burned.
With a relaxed expression, she wrapped the red thread around her finger. In the next second, her expression changed sharply. Coldness and resolve appeared perfectly on her. The red thread wrapped around a huge neck behind her. She pulled it toward her as if using no effort at all, as if looking down on all living beings. “You should have walked beside the sun and moon, yet you still fell to this. Suffering here for thousands and tens of thousands of years. I am not here to kill you. I only came to take back what belongs to me.”
Yin Wu slowly bent down. Her eyes were full of indifference as she met a pair of eyes filled with anger. “If you do not behave, you will be punished.”
Li Lingjiang was woken by the sound of something striking the ground. She slept lightly, so it did not take long for her mind to clear. When she opened her eyes, she saw a very beautiful woman fall to the ground. The woman wore very little. Li Lingjiang lowered her gaze and saw through her at once. It was a charm demon.
Only it was not quite the same as the one that had been following them before.
She sat up from the stone slab. Yin Wu had placed her shoes to the side. Just as she stretched out her foot, she heard hurried footsteps rushing in. She drew her foot back. Her beast ears hid downward in fright. Curling her knees, she calmly looked at Ling Xin standing at the entrance.
The moment Ling Xin came in, the invisible barrier vanished.
“My Lord, are you all right?” Ling Xin asked, though he was not actually worried. Without looking aside, he kicked the charm demon pretending to be soft and delicate. He threatened, “Keep playing dead, and I will stop being polite.”
He released only a small amount of demonic energy, but it was enough to intimidate the charm demon and reveal his identity. At first, the charm demon still wanted to resist. Only after Ling Xin pressed it against the wall did it settle down.
“My lord.” The charm demon honestly knelt on the ground. Behind it followed a group of small charm demons that had been caught and dragged in.
Li Lingjiang looked at the seven or eight of them and felt her head ache. She pinched the bridge of her nose. “How is it outside?”
Feng Luan spoke first. His ears lifted, and he looked very happy. “Nothing much. A few people opened their eyes and saw several women dancing seductively. They were frightened, but otherwise everything is fine.”
It was just that these demons had too strong a will to survive. Each one ran faster than the last and refused to change back to its original appearance. Several pretty women crawling on the wall was also enough to shock the soul.
Li Lingjiang swept a glance over them. She pinched her fingers and quietly looked around before saying, “What were you told before?”
Ling Xin casually set down a screening barrier.
“The king warned us to follow demon conduct. We absolutely must not casually take off our clothes anymore. Even if we transform into human form, we have to cover ourselves properly,” the leading charm demon said softly.
The king it mentioned was naturally not Li Lingjiang.
Ling Xin kicked them. “A group of things that refuse to repent. Why were you following us?”
The charm demon picked at its face. “We had not seen humans for a long time, so evil thoughts rose.”
“You still have the nerve to say that?” Ling Xin stood before them, angry without needing to raise his voice. “Do you have accomplices?”
The charm demon nodded carefully. “Yes. Outside.”
At that one sentence, the four suddenly seemed to remember something. They looked at one another. It seemed none of them had seen Yin Wu come in.
The commotion had not been small. So where was she?
