Bright red blood, tinged with a faint golden light, was poured onto the plant. The originally dead and withered plant began to show signs of life.
Yun Shayi pressed her lips tightly together. She lowered herself and sat on the ground, her eyes holding a hint of sorrow and confusion as she quietly raised her head and gazed into the distance.
After a long while, she covered her eyes, a self-mocking tone in her voice. “Senior Sister, you’re really something, establishing a whole Dao system with your own power.”
“A Dao system not accepted by the cultivation world.”
Yun Shayi laughed softly. I don’t know where that wine even came from; I should have forced you to drink it all and killed you.
On the huge light screen, everything about Yun Shayi was reflected. Luo Tangtang lowered her eyes, her face expressionless. “Are you satisfied with what I’m doing now?”
“It was not I who asked you to do it,” a voice said from the void.
But Luo Tangtang’s face was filled with coldness. Her eyes were icy, holding a sneer and disdain. Her entire being was like the wind and snow on the highest peak of Ethereal Peak, eternally unchanging.
Luo Tangtang felt her life force gradually draining away. In her mind, transparent threads, like tentacles, encroached upon her bit by bit. She closed her eyes tiredly.
Everything will come to an end.
Although the Demon Palace had not been established for long, its momentum was extremely fierce, and it committed all kinds of evil. Everyone’s hands were stained with blood and innocent lives. However, their cultivation methods were too extreme and domineering, which allowed their cultivation levels to skyrocket in a short period.
The major sects naturally wouldn’t let it exist unchecked. War arrived as expected. The Genesis Fire, like a dense net, enveloped everything within it. Yun Shayi stood in mid-air, her dark hair tied up, her entire demeanor cold and aloof. Despite possessing the Netherworld Azure Flame, she was as unapproachable as wind and snow.
Roars and screams came from below in waves. The firelight shone on Yun Shayi’s profile, casting a cruel shadow.
She just watched as many Demon Palace members with lower cultivation levels perished in the sea of fire.
The people from the major sects kept their distance; the Genesis Fire was no simple matter. If they were accidentally injured, it would be severe. Therefore, the higher-ups of the cultivation world discussed letting Yun Shayi take the lead first. They would wait for the Netherworld Azure Flame to greatly weaken the Demon Palace’s combat strength, and then capture them all at once.
Some of the higher-cultivation members of the Demon Palace were injured. Even they could only passively defend, unable to extinguish the flame.
“Where is Luo Yi?” Yun Shayi stared at a demon cultivator with strange patterns on his forehead and asked coldly.
But the demon cultivator didn’t answer. Madness appeared in his eyes, and his whole body turned into a cloud of black smoke, lunging directly at Yun Shayi.
Yun Shayi frowned. The black smoke actually penetrated the defensive barrier formed by her Netherworld Azure Flame.
“Be careful!” someone behind her cried out in alarm.
Yun Shayi, however, looked calm, though a flash of coldness crossed her eyes. The next moment, the black smoke was suddenly pierced by icicles that appeared out of thin air. A bone-chilling coldness spread, and the Netherworld Azure Flame instantly wrapped around the icicles, devouring the black mist in an instant.
“Tell Luo Yi to come out.” Yun Shayi used her spiritual energy this time, and her voice echoed above the Demon Palace for a long time.
“You wanted to see me.” Suddenly, these words came from behind her.
It was Luo Tangtang.
“Number One.” Standing in the distance, Luo Er’s pupils suddenly contracted.
What’s wrong with her? Luo Er had grown up with Luo Yi, and they shared the same origin, so she could naturally sense that something was amiss with Luo Yi. Her life force was draining too severely, and it wasn’t being replenished.
Yun Shayi’s gaze fell on Luo Tangtang, and her icy stare froze.
It was because her change was too great. She still wore white as usual, but she looked terribly frail, as if a faint gust of wind could knock her over. Moreover, her once black hair had turned silver, making her look holy and gentle.
Who could have imagined that such an elegant and otherworldly person was actually the master of this Demon Palace? Not only was Yun Shayi stunned, but the group of people behind her were also filled with surprise.
Luo Tangtang had lived in seclusion in the Supreme Immortal Sect. Except for some inner disciples who had seen her, people from other sects had only ever heard her name.
Yun Shayi quickly composed herself, her slightly narrowed eyes glinting with a cold light. “Luo Yi, you’ve finally appeared!”
Luo Tangtang chuckled softly, her eyes gentle as she looked at Yun Shayi. “Junior Sister, if you—”
“Shut up.” Before Luo Tangtang could finish, Yun Shayi coldly cut her off. She gritted her teeth and said hatefully, “You are not my Senior Sister! My Senior Sister died long ago!”
Luo Tangtang’s heart clenched. She should have gotten used to it over these years, should have been able to face everything with the calmest attitude.
But, Luo Tangtang thought with self-mockery, all these years of mental preparation crumbled when she faced the real person. Just one disgusted and cold look from the other made her blood run cold.
But the words she spoke were completely different. “Junior Sister, haven’t you wanted to see me all these years? Why treat me so coldly now that we’ve met?”
“I wanted to see you to kill you.” Yun Shayi coldly drew her sword.
Looking at the sword, Luo Tangtang froze, then chuckled softly. “Feng Qing.”
Luo Tangtang remembered the name of that sword. Zhi Yu had told her in the beginning; it was the revered deity’s personal sword.
So that explained it? Yun Shayi was the revered deity. That’s why the Netherworld Azure Flame had gone out of control—because of Yun Shayi’s approach.
So, was her coming back this time also her Senior Sister’s doing? Was it to punish her?
“You don’t need to interfere. I’ll deal with her myself,” Yun Shayi said to those behind her who looked ready to rush forward. Then, she attacked.
Yun Shayi’s attacks were extremely ruthless, without a trace of mercy. Luo Tangtang, whose smile seemed very fake to Yun Shayi, became expressionless as she parried.
When the people from the major sects heard Yun Shayi speak, they also ceased their large-scale flame attacks. The Demon Palace members, no longer under the direct assault of the Netherworld Azure Flame as Yun Shayi focused on her opponent, grew even more frenzied. The sects now needed to deal with these other madmen.
Whether intentionally or not, as the two fought fiercely, they gradually moved away from everyone’s sight. Luo Er’s expression suddenly became worried, and with a flicker, she too disappeared.
Luo Tangtang was struggling now. The Main God truly seemed to want her dead. Yun Shayi was inherently the darling of this world; its entire fate favored her. As for Luo Tangtang, the outsider, it was as if the world’s energies were unwilling to enter her body.
Schlick. Feng Qing suddenly pierced into her body.
Luo Tangtang’s face turned deathly pale.
Yun Shayi was also stunned. She almost lost her composure as she pulled Feng Qing out, her pale, slender fingertips trembling slightly.
The Netherworld Azure Flame, as if it had smelled something, lunged towards Luo Tangtang like a swift snake.
Yun Shayi’s mind went blank for a moment.
“Sizzle…” The flame made an aggrieved sound.
Yun Shayi glared at it fiercely, and the flame immediately shrank back.
“Heh heh.” Luo Tangtang clutched her wound and let out a sneering laugh.
Yun Shayi’s expression also turned ugly. She said in a low voice, “If you surrender without a fight, perhaps I can show you some leniency.”
“Leniency?” Luo Tangtang suddenly found it somewhat amusing. A sharp pain throbbed from her wound, making cold sweat break out on her forehead. She raised an eyebrow. “With my crimes, if you catch me, won’t they tear me limb from limb? And you’d still show leniency?”
“I…” Yun Shayi stammered, then her expression turned cold again. She said, word by word, “Then why on earth did you do those things?” Her tone was filled with a fierceness, as if she wished she could bite Luo Tangtang to death, piece by piece.
Bitterness welled up in Luo Tangtang’s heart. The fake smile on her face almost slipped. She had no choice but to let the curve of her lips fall, her entire being becoming expressionless again. “No reason.”
Yun Shayi seemed angered. She had given her chances again and again, letting her explain. If Luo Tangtang would just say it, she would believe her. Then she wouldn’t have to just stand by and watch her die. But obviously, even though she was trying to think of her, this woman didn’t appreciate it in the slightest.
Yun Shayi closed her eyes. When she opened them again, all emotion was gone from her face. “Then I have no choice but to take you back.”
The Netherworld Azure Flame was a type of Genesis Fire. Having endured its effects so many times, Luo Tangtang’s body had long been eroded by ‘fissures’.
But Luo Tangtang smiled, her eyes holding a poignant despair. “Do you think I’m really so easy to defeat?”
“I am the opponent chosen for you by the Heavenly Dao, your fated adversary.”
Luo Tangtang suddenly grabbed Yun Shayi’s wrist. The Netherworld Azure Flame dwelling within Yun Shayi instantly erupted, uncontrollably lunging towards Luo Tangtang.
Yun Shayi’s eyes widened abruptly, filled with terror.
“Dodge it, quickly!” Yun Shayi roared sharply.
But Luo Tangtang just smiled without speaking.
The Azure Flame illuminated her face, surprisingly creating a kind of fierce beauty.
The bloody scene they imagined did not occur. Instead, a terrifying aura erupted from Luo Tangtang, enveloping her.
“What are you doing?” Yun Shayi’s tone changed. Because Luo Tangtang’s life force was rapidly declining.
“Number One!” Luo Er arrived.
“What on earth is happening?” Luo Er grabbed Luo Tangtang’s wrist.
“That person told me that a complete world should have a balance of yin and yang,” Luo Tangtang’s voice seemed to echo in their minds. “This world was the first one he created, and he wanted to give it everything beautiful.”
“So, everyone in this world was simple and kind. There were no demon cultivators slaughtering commoners, no beast cultivators devouring people and taking lives, no heavenly punishments or man-made disasters.”
“But precisely because of this, the world instead became unstable. Rifts threatened to devour everything. So, he created me.”
What? Luo Er also widened her eyes. She only knew that Luo Yi had been made from the Main God’s own flesh and blood. But as for the deeper reasons, such as why, Luo Er did not know.
Luo Tangtang’s smile was tinged with bitterness. She looked up at the sky. Five years. It wasn’t long, but it wasn’t short either. Yet, it was enough time for her to understand everything.
She no longer looked at Luo Er. Instead, she took a few steps forward. The Netherworld Azure Flame had been completely devoured by her. She looked at Yun Shayi and then pressed her lips against the other’s.
It wasn’t very deep, just a simple kiss, carrying softness and bitterness, yet it was still beautiful.
Luo Tangtang gently touched Yun Shayi’s eyes. Those beautiful, bright eyes were now filled with confusion, surprise, and indignant shame, along with many other emotions Luo Tangtang couldn’t decipher.
But she also had no time to understand them. Yun Shayi’s body swayed as if to fall, and Luo Tangtang carefully helped her to sit on the ground.
“He only asked me to stabilize this world,” Luo Tangtang said, looking gently at Yun Shayi, her tone calm. “But I wanted to give you something better.”
“To let you, and to let this world, become its own self—not just that person’s toy.”
