Running Off With The Sect Senior Sister Chapter 51

New World

“Goat’s milk?” Luo Yi’s eyes suddenly became somewhat deep and complex. She looked intently at Luo Tangtang, who was covering her face with her front paws, then suddenly reached out and gently stroked Luo Tangtang’s back.
Luo Tangtang immediately felt a chill down her spine.
“Yes,” Yun Shayi said with a serious expression.
“Before coming, she drank quite a lot. The smell on her should be quite strong now.”
Luo Yi paused, then said lightly, “Since it’s Junior Sister’s cat, then I’ll give her to you.”
Yun Shayi was about to reach out, but Luo Yi’s hand on Luo Tangtang still hadn’t been withdrawn. She was even unhurriedly… petting the cat.
“Senior Sister,” Yun Shayi called out helplessly.
Only then did Luo Yi let go and place Luo Tangtang into Yun Shayi’s hands. During this, she also gently tugged Luo Tangtang’s tail.
The tail was an extremely sensitive spot. Luo Tangtang’s body immediately went limp. She instantly bared her teeth and glared back fiercely.
A hand swatted down. Yun Shayi, with a serious expression on her small face, warned, “Don’t be so fierce to Senior Sister.”
Luo Tangtang felt a pang of bitterness in her heart. Her eyes held a hint of grievance. She bit Yun Shayi’s hand with her small fangs, leaving a faint tooth mark on that fair hand.
“Naughty.” Yun Shayi was about to swat her again, but her hand was caught in mid-air.
“Don’t touch her,” Luo Yi said lightly.
“She’s still small,” Luo Yi added after a slight pause.
Luo Tangtang glanced at Luo Yi, then looked up at the Yun Shayi holding her. Apart from her appearance, this “Yun Shayi” here was almost nothing like her Eldest Senior Sister.
Instead… Luo Tangtang looked towards Luo Yi, her gaze becoming complicated. This person and Senior Sister…
In the end, Luo Tangtang still left with Yun Shayi. Just being with Luo Yi for a short while made her feel as if she was seen through completely, inside and out, with no secrets left. This feeling made her scalp tingle, and she felt entirely uncomfortable.
As she was leaving, Luo Tangtang looked back. The building seemed very ethereal. A shimmering white figure stood there quietly, unmoving.
Luo Tangtang suddenly felt a sharp pain in her heart. A sense of panic gathered, enough to make her flustered.
“Tsk.” Yun Shayi tightened her arms around Luo Tangtang, as if trying to draw warmth. “Ethereal Peak is so cold. I’m most afraid of the cold.”
After saying that, she even shivered a few times.
But Luo Tangtang suddenly lifted her head. She twisted her body as if pricked by a needle and, under Yun Shayi’s somewhat panicked expression, met her eyes.
“What’s wrong with you? Why are you so agitated?” Yun Shayi’s face showed some surprise.
Luo Tangtang’s round, clear eyes gradually darkened, like a bottomless pool of water.
She flopped down again, burying her face and not speaking.
Yun Shayi was completely bewildered, but seeing Luo Tangtang’s unwillingness to speak, she silently wondered but didn’t press further.
They went straight back to Yun Shayi’s residence.
Yun Shayi placed Luo Tangtang on the table, then very casually went to bed to sleep…
No, isn’t she going to cultivate? Luo Tangtang jumped off the table again. She ran to the door once more, turned her head to look at the bed. Yun Shayi was still sleeping, not looking at her.
She took another step forward, looked back again. Yun Shayi had turned over.
Luo Tangtang: “…”
‘What are you still testing?’ The System’s voice, a mixture of helplessness and fury, rang out.
‘Are you stupid? Do I have to spell it out for you? She really isn’t your so-called Senior Sister!’
Luo Tangtang’s eyes slowly lit up, and the corners of her mouth curved up.
She knew that if the System was sentient, it couldn’t stand her acting like this!
‘But, give me a clear answer, when exactly are you going to do something?’
The System was silent for a moment: ‘I can’t do anything about that either. I don’t belong here. This world rejects me. Being able to appear here and talk to you now is thanks to the power of the Main God.’
‘Main God? What does he mean by all this? Is Luo Yi Senior Sister?’
‘Tangtang, there are some things you’re not ready to know yet.’
The System’s voice was heavy: ‘Perhaps, I was wrong this time. Truly wrong.’
‘What was wrong? Can you stop speaking in riddles? How can I know anything if you talk like this?’ Luo Tangtang was about to go crazy. Her eyes were red, and the joy of the System’s presence had vanished, replaced now only by frustration and anxiousness.
‘I… I can’t say. Tang… Tangtang, I’m sorry. I made you become not yourself.’
‘I’m not me? Why am I not me? Tell me!’ Luo Tangtang roared. Only then did she realize she had turned back into her human form.
“You are?” Yun Shayi sat up, her face full of astonishment and shock, looking at this person who had suddenly appeared.
Time stopped at this moment. Luo Tangtang could even clearly see the dense tiny water droplets floating in the air. They looked at each other as if separated by the changes of mountains and rivers over eons.
Luo Tangtang slowly walked over. Both extended their fingers. The moment their fingertips touched, Yun Shayi’s body underwent a drastic change. She dispersed into the air like water vapor.
Luo Tangtang’s fingers trembled, but when they touched the other’s cheek, it scattered and dispersed.
At the same time, a golden light flashed in Luo Tangtang’s eyes. She looked up towards the distance. Beyond this sky, there was a brilliant river of stars. Beneath it, mountains and ravines, a long, narrow rift valley stretched from east to west. It was a real and breathtaking world.
Golden light flowed in Luo Tangtang’s eyes, like the brilliant river of stars above her head.
‘This is the truth. Did you… see it?’
The System said softly.
‘That is a new world, reconstructed. It’s a new world that countless people bought with their lives, by walking a path to certain death and scheming with their very existence.’
“Fake? My life? It’s all fake?” Luo Tangtang’s lips turned purple as she asked incoherently.
“Then what is real? What about Senior Sister? What about me? After all this time, what meaning did everything I experienced have?”
Luo Tangtang’s eyes looked as if they would split, a furious red filling them. Her palms were already bleeding from how tightly she had clenched them, yet she seemed to feel no pain. Gritting her teeth, she said, word by word, “You! Speak! Now!”
‘What you will experience here? When the time comes, you will know everything.’ The System’s voice suddenly became hurried. Then, bursts of electromagnetic sounds, beeping and ticking, rang out before vanishing moments later.
Luo Tangtang, however, collapsed as if her strength had left her.
The cave suddenly became quiet. Abruptly, a series of footsteps sounded, and a figure in white appeared in the cave.
Luo Yi looked at Luo Tangtang lying on the ground, picked her up, gently placed her on the bed, and then quietly stared at her without blinking.
Her gaze moved to Luo Tangtang’s neck. Luo Yi’s eyes paused slightly, then she reached out and slowly removed the pendant.
A white light flashed, and a crystal coffin appeared in the cave. Inside lay Yun Shayi.
Luo Yi looked at the crystal coffin, then her gaze shifted back to Luo Tangtang.
After a long moment, she spoke, her eyes complicated, “You fool.”
“Sigh.” She sighed, an expression unfitting for her usual countenance. “Waiting for you to remember is really too hard. You were clearly so smart before, how did you become so foolish now?”
“When you remember, will you scold me? But I’m really angry. We clearly agreed back then, but…”
Luo Yi looked at Luo Tangtang, her expression turning aggrieved. “I don’t need you to suffer for me. You shouldn’t have experienced those things.”
“The Main God was angry with me. It would have been fine if I went. Why did you have to take my place?”
“So, I’m angry. I want you to remember on your own.”
“When you remember, no one will be able to separate us again.” As she said this, Luo Yi remained expressionless, her tone gentle, but her eyes were so sinister they seemed as if they could drip water, filled with madness.
“No one.”
“Beep beep.” A warning sound came from somewhere.
Luo Yi, holding Luo Tangtang’s hand, gave it a little shake. “Come out. We should talk. There’s no need to play dead.”
“Hiss—!” Luo Tangtang’s head felt like it was splitting.
She struggled to sit up, her whole body aching.
What met her eyes was a cave. The corners of the walls were covered in moss, and it was somewhat damp.
“?” Luo Tangtang, somewhat stunned, covered her eyes. Her vision was very clear; it seemed to have completely recovered.
“My… my eyes are better!”
‘Yes, they are.’ The System spoke.
‘System, just now Senior Sister… disappeared!’
‘Didn’t you already know she wasn’t the real Yun Shayi?’
“But… but…” Even though the other person might not have been the real Yun Shayi, when Luo Tangtang saw her disappear before her eyes, her heart still couldn’t help but panic.
“Then, is Luo Yi the real Senior Sister?”
‘Yes.’ The System said.
“Didn’t you go offline? How are you back again?” Luo Tangtang looked at the System, which had replied so decisively, feeling a bit puzzled.
The System fell silent, then said after a moment: ‘I received permission from the new world. So I can be here.’
“Why?” Luo Tangtang was taken aback.
‘It might be related to you discovering the world’s origin.’ The System sounded a bit impatient.
“But—”
‘No buts! Do you have a hundred thousand whys? Stop asking. Even if you ask, I can’t explain it clearly.’ It was really frustrated to death; everyone was ordering it around.
“Then, that Yun Shayi disappeared. How will this world operate?”
‘Go take a look in the mirror yourself!’
“?” Luo Tangtang’s eyes slowly widened. A bad feeling welled up in her heart. She suddenly turned around and looked everywhere. There was nothing.
Only a bed and a table.
Luo Tangtang’s mouth twitched slightly. Suddenly, a water mirror materialized.
‘No need to thank me,’ the System said, its voice tinged with schadenfreude.
But Luo Tangtang had no time to bicker. Reflected in the water mirror was a familiar face—wasn’t it her Eldest Senior Sister whom she longed for day and night!
“Ahhhhhhh!” A scream pierced the sky.
‘Calm down, calm down,’ the System said with a laugh.
“Why is it like this?” Luo Tangtang covered her face, her voice distorted with terror.
‘Because you discovered that this world’s origin is fake, causing this world’s Yun Shayi to disappear. So, you were pulled out by this world’s origin to replace her!’
“But what about Luo Yi?” Luo Tangtang suddenly said.
System: “…” Suddenly, she’s not so easy to fool anymore.
“Do you think I’m easy to fool?” Luo Tangtang gritted her teeth.
“Luo Yi is Senior Sister. Then what about the original Luo Yi?”
“You’re not going to tell me that Senior Sister and Luo Yi are actually the same person? Or that she’s using an alias? Or perhaps there’s no Senior Sister in the new world, and Senior Sister just changed her identity.”
‘Right. Yun Shayi could come here from tens of thousands of years in the future, so what’s impossible?’ the System said, showing no sign of being exposed, and explained very calmly.
