After Feigning Amnesia, My Sworn Enemy Takes Revenge Chapter 34

Yaoguang Pavilion: Huang Yi Under the Moon

Yue Jin sighed. This wasn’t a very important matter. Compared to the stalemate with the person in front of her, it was better not to act rashly.
Might as well tell her.
“She is my subordinate, Eyin, one of Qingyuan Palace’s Left and Right Protectors,” she said carelessly, raising an eyebrow. “How about that? Satisfied? Do you want me to tell you her life story too?”
Fu Lingyi pressed eagerly, “What about the others? Is there nothing else between you?”
“…Nothing.”
“Not even a little bit?”
“Just a subordinate, nothing more, nothing at all.”
Only then was Fu Lingyi satisfied. She released Yue Jin’s wrist and glanced aside. “Then the way you were just now… those gentle whispers, they make one suspicious.”
“That’s because,” Yue Jin bit out, suppressing her anger, “we’ve known each other for a long time. We’re used to talking like that.”
“Are you like that with everyone?” Fu Lingyi’s lips pressed down slightly before quickly returning to normal. “I didn’t realize, the Demon Lord is actually so considerate to her subordinates.”
Why does this person talk so passive-aggressively…?
Yue Jin felt helpless. If she delayed here any longer, the sun would set.
This courtyard wasn’t in a remote location. At the very least, it was on the path necessary to travel up and down the mountain. People could pass by at any time. If she was discovered, it would be hard to explain.
“I am also like this with those close to me, there are no exceptions,” she said, cautiously glancing behind her to make sure no one was coming. “Do you have anything else to say? If not, I need to go.”
Fu Lingyi had gotten the answer she wanted. It was enough.
She just couldn’t help but keep asking.
But what right did she have to ask? As a passerby she had threatened?
Or as a mortal enemy who had maliciously brought her back when she had amnesia?
“You can go,” Fu Lingyi said, shaking her head slightly.
In truth, she should have realized long ago that everything between them now was built on lies.
If the lies were overturned, and the facts changed, then everything between them would cease to exist, wouldn’t it?
Even now, Yue Jin must resent her. After all, the people she considered close did not include her.
What meaning was there in continuing to ask and make herself detestable?
Yue Jin watched as the person finished speaking, leaped over the wall, and quickly disappeared from sight.
Her retreating figure seemed slightly sorrowful.
She looked quite dejected.
To this, she could only say…
“…Incomprehensible.”
She released a paper kite, writing down the person’s appearance and behavior to warn others to be careful.
Yaoguang Pavilion was indeed a sect with holes everywhere. They didn’t care about outsiders, allowing various shops and vendors to enter and exit freely, calling it ‘cultivation exchange.’
However, the pavilion itself was quite wealthy and powerful.
As long as a disciple from any immortal sect arrived, the Sect Leader would personally receive them, providing good food and drink, better service than even the imperial palace.
Wu Ju and Shan Shi disguised themselves as senior disciples from Huang Yi Valley and became honored guests in Sect Leader Ye Wenzhen’s hall. Shan Shi was quiet and spoke little, keeping her eyes downcast, too lazy to socialize with others.
In contrast, Wu Ju talked endlessly, charming the Sect Leader into cheerful laughter. She kept saying she didn’t know much about Huang Yi Valley and would visit the valley more next time, fostering more exchanges and doing business between their neighboring cities.
“Sect Leader Ye, you are truly graceful and charming, and your cultivation has progressed splendidly. Oh right, I saw the Sect Leader’s daughter a few days ago. She is truly as spirited and imposing as you, incomparable to ordinary people.” Although Wu Ju usually enjoyed divination and tending to plants, appearing quiet and reserved, when it came to flattery, it was one stream after another, making even Shan Shi look at her askance.
“Oh, you flatter me, fellow Daoist,” Ye Wenzhen said with a hand over her mouth, laughing. “My daughter was pampered and spoiled since childhood, given all sorts of heavenly materials and earthly treasures. She’s very kind-hearted, just a bit too simple-minded. She fell for a woman from Chongxiang Sword Sect , but alas, that person would rather cavort with demonic cultivators than be with her. My poor daughter really misjudged.”
Demonic cultivator?
Wu Ju reacted extremely quickly. She secretly reached back with her right hand and pressed down on Shan Shi, who was itching to act, stopping her from drawing her weapon.
She knew Shan Shi and Eyin too well. Although their cultivation was high, they didn’t use their brains much when doing things, ready to act at the drop of a hat.
Fortunately, she pressed her down in time, otherwise, the words “demonic cultivator” would have definitely made her raise her bow and shoot.
“A woman like Miss Ye is simply devoted. In the end, it was that person from Chongxiang Sword Sect who lacked the good fortune. If it really doesn’t work out, Sect Leader, how about my junior sister? She is from our Huang Yi Valley…”
“This is bad!”
Wu Ju was about to stir up trouble and promote Shan Shi, but she heard someone outside the hall shouting and banging on the hall doors.
“This is bad, Sect Leader, this is bad!”
Ye Wenzhen was easygoing. She wasn’t annoyed at being interrupted and called out, “Come in! What happened?”
The hall doors opened, and an outer disciple hurriedly walked in. Upon seeing the guests, he suddenly lowered her head, not daring to say a single word.
“Just say it. They are fine.”
“Sect Leader…”
Even after receiving permission, the young disciple still kept her head down, as if her mouth was glued shut with asphalt, unable to open it.
Terrified, he trembled all over.
“What are you afraid of? No one here is going to eat you,” Wu Ju said with a smile, believing she looked very kind. Unexpectedly, the person trembled even more violently.
Shan Shi looked up and glared fiercely at her.
The disciple was so scared that he flopped onto the ground, scrambling sideways on all fours for several steps, trying to get as far away from the two people as possible, panting heavily.
“Sect Leader…”
“Sect Leader, Huang Yi Valley…”
“Huang Yi Valley, five days ago, was completely annihilated by villains. Everyone had knife wounds, not even a single intact body was left behind…”
“Dem… Demonic Cult! The Demonic Cult has returned!”
When the words finished, the scene was completely silent. Only the heavy panting of the young disciple echoed in the entire hall.
Ye Wenzhen suddenly asked, “You… you are from Huang Yi Valley, right?”
Wu Ju replied, “Precisely.”
“You arrived two days ago, correct?”
“That’s right.”
“As far as I know, the city where Huang Yi Valley is located borders Nanyang Prefecture. Even if you rode the slowest immortal crane, it would only take a day. Is there a problem with my guess?”
“Sect Leader, your divine foresight is brilliant. We are simply incomparable.”
“Then…”
“Yes,” Wu Ju’s lips curved slightly, a meaningful smile on her face. “We’ve been exposed, Sect Leader Ye.”
Sparks flew everywhere, shining with dazzling light in the hall. A long bow wrapped in fireworks appeared from nothing, stretching and extending in Shan Shi’s hand.
“What a waste of effort.”
She gripped the bow handle with both hands, drew the bow, and aimed three arrows directly at Ye Wenzhen’s head.
“I was dying of boredom! I haven’t killed anyone in nearly an hour.”
“Stop boasting, Shan Shi,” Wu Ju raised her hand, and a thin, long vine drilled out of the hard ground, hooking Ye Wenzhen’s leg. “Say one more word, and I’ll tell Jin’er.”
Ye Wenzhen pulled out a necklace from her neck, blew on it, and the necklace turned into a crystal-clear bamboo flute, which she held to her lips.
“Ah, my daughter’s personality truly inherited mine. She always trusts others so easily, and so do I.”
“Fellow Daoist, oh fellow Daoist, to think I confided in you completely. As expected, demonic cultivators all have deceitful mouths.”
Hearing this, Wu Ju’s smile deepened.
At some point, an entry/exit restriction spell had been placed on the entire hall.
Eyin had been searching everywhere until someone told her that the guests Shan Shi had taken the form of should be in the main hall talking with the Sect Leader.
She walked to the outside of the main hall, pushed the doors open without heeding others’ attempts to stop her, and entered.
The main hall doors closed silently. The sight before her was hard to describe.
Ye Wenzhen was tightly bound by vines, lying on the ground. The young disciple beside her had long since fainted. Shan Shi was drawing her bow, aiming left and right at the person on the ground as if practicing archery.
Meanwhile, Wu Ju was sitting in the Sect Leader’s seat, blowing on the tea leaves in her cup, saying as she blew, “Stop playing around, Shan Shi. It’s because you two are always like this that Qingyuan Palace is always called the Demonic Cult.”
“It’s not my fault. I was like this before I came to Qingyuan Palace. But the Venerable One seems to quite like that title.”
“Shan Shi!”
Eyin rushed over fiercely and knocked her bow and arrows away. “What are you looking for me for? Disrupting my time alone with the Venerable One! Are you doing this on purpose!”
“Slander and framing! I’d look for an ant on the ground before looking for you.” Shan Shi glared at her, then suddenly reacted. “What Venerable One? The Venerable One is here? The Venerable One came and you didn’t tell me?”
“Hmph, why would I tell you? The Venerable One came specifically to see me. She even praised me, saying that next time she wants to take me on a mission alone, not… take… you.”
Eyin was smug and satisfied. Shan Shi was so angry she immediately drew her bow and aimed it at her, releasing five arrows this time, sparks flying everywhere.
She dodged nimbly, not forgetting to bare her teeth and make a face halfway through.
“Stop messing around,” Wu Ju said, rubbing her temples in frustration. These two were the hardest people she had ever managed. They argued whenever they were together. “Argue one more word, and I’ll immediately send a message to Qingyuan to have Jin’er come over.”
The two immediately quieted down, glaring at each other but making no further moves.
“Mmph, mmph!” Ye Wenzhen had a silencing spell cast on her, unable to speak, only able to whimper silently.
Only then did Eyin notice the person on the ground. She took a step forward, leaning her pretty little face closer. “What’s this? The Venerable One said we were supposed to infiltrate quietly and not cause trouble. Did you do this, Shan Shi?”
“I didn’t…”
“That’s my magic artifact, don’t you recognize it?” Wu Ju gestured for them to be quiet and snapped her fingers, lifting the silencing spell. “There was no other way. I didn’t expect to expose our identities for this reason, so I had to tie her up first.”
Ye Wenzhen felt she could make sounds. She coughed twice and questioned, “Demonic cultivators coming to Yaoguang Pavilion… could it be you plan to make Yaoguang Pavilion the next victim?”
“Stop slandering us! We didn’t do this.” Shan Shi was furious. She grabbed Ye Wenzhen’s hair, lifted her head, and retorted.
“Let go.”
Wu Ju stopped her actions and said, “Sect Leader Ye, think carefully. If the slaughter of Huang Yi Valley was done by us, then why would we disguise ourselves as Huang Yi Valley disciples? Wouldn’t that just unnecessarily invite suspicion?”
“How would I know the thoughts of demonic cultivators? Perhaps you deliberately came here to show off your achievements!”
“Say that again!”
Sparks of electricity flickered non-stop in Shan Shi’s hand. Eyin looked quite bewildered. “What’s going on? What are you talking about?”
Vines drilled out from the ground, binding Shan Shi and dragging her away.
“We don’t intend to try and explain all this to you.”
Wu Ju stood up. She raised her eyebrows, her face perfectly calm.
“Decades of misunderstanding and grudges cannot be easily resolved with just a few words.”
“We simply came to make a very simple transaction with the Sect Leader. What do you say?”
“You can’t refuse, you know.”
