Why Aren’t You Cultivating Immortality? (GL) Chapter 86

Chapter 86

When An Huaigu came out of Xiao Xing’s office, her expression did not look very good.
While Tang Yue worked, she kept paying attention to what was happening on the president’s office side. Seeing An Huaigu come out, she immediately set down the work in her hands and walked out.
“Huaigu.”
Tang Yue called her.
An Huaigu heard her and turned to look at Tang Yue. She raised the documents in her hand, then entered her own office.
Tang Yue understood what she meant. There was work to do. Do not disturb her.
Tang Yue felt a little uneasy. She stood at the door, hesitating over whether to go in and ask. An Huaigu walked to her seat and sat down. Seeing Tang Yue still standing there, she smiled at her and teased through the door, “Does Assistant Tang want to come help?”
Everything looked as if nothing was wrong.
“What did President Xiao say to you?”
Tang Yue still decided to go in and ask. She walked to the desk and swept a glance over the documents An Huaigu had just held. There were no notes on the spine, so she could not tell what materials were inside.
An Huaigu tilted her head and rested her cheek on her hand, looking Tang Yue over.
“Assistant Tang, are you worried about President Xiao, or are you worried about me?”
A woman’s thoughts were hard to guess. Even though Tang Yue was also a woman, she still could not guess what An Huaigu was thinking. A simple question, if answered unsatisfactorily, could lead to many other things. In other words, it was looking for trouble where there was none.
Tang Yue thought for a moment before answering An Huaigu.
“You stayed in President Xiao’s office for more than half an hour. I was worried something happened to you.”
“So Assistant Tang does not trust my ability.”
An Huaigu opened the file.
The words Advertising Cooperation Proposal appeared before Tang Yue’s eyes.
An Huaigu turned the file toward Tang Yue and said, “I discussed the new season’s advertising cooperation proposal with President Xiao. If you are worried, I can hand it to you.”
It was hard to tell whether there was gunpowder in the air or whether they were flirting.
Secretary Wen stood by the door and listened for a good while before knocking to remind them of her presence.
“Assistant Tang, Assistant An, President Jing of Jingke will arrive at the company in twenty minutes. There is a small meeting. President Xiao arranged for both of you to attend.”
The two people who were supposed to attend the meeting looked at each other.
An Huaigu said, “I have things to handle here. Secretary Wen, are you free? If you are, can you attend the meeting with Assistant Tang in my place?”
Xiao Xing had told them ahead of time that Jing Tianmu would come. It was only a small meeting about the completion date of the hotel building, and whether An Huaigu attended did not have much effect.
Wen Rushui was silent for a moment, then said, “I am free.”
Her gaze turned to Tang Yue. “The people from the hotel business department are already in the meeting room. Shall we go now, or wait a while?”
Tang Yue looked at An Huaigu.
An Huaigu blinked playfully at her.
Tang Yue could not read what she was thinking from her eyes, so she turned back to Secretary Wen.
“Let us go now.”
Watching Tang Yue’s back disappear at the door, An Huaigu deflated like a leaking balloon and slumped over the desk.
“Sigh…”
Like a resentful wife in a deep inner room, she let out a long sigh.
“Sister An, what is wrong?”
While she was sighing, a white figure appeared at the door.
Hearing that familiar and friendly “Sister An,” An Huaigu immediately climbed up. Seeing Bai Moqing, she pushed away her chair with a screech and excitedly pounced over.
“Little Bai!”
Completely different from An Huaigu’s excitement, Bai Moqing turned sideways and avoided An Huaigu’s hug. Her attitude was a little cold. Afraid An Huaigu would come back for a second try, she even took two steps to the side and put distance between them.
An Huaigu put away her frivolous expression and tidied her slightly messy hair. She turned to look at Bai Moqing.
“You little heartless thing. You finally came to work.”
Little heartless thing?
Those words sounded a little like flirting.
Bai Moqing glanced next door. Xiao Xing could hear everything they said. Thinking of what had happened yesterday, Bai Moqing straightened her expression and changed the topic.
“Sister An, did you say something to Feiyue yesterday?”
The message had been recalled, leaving no proof. Unfortunately, Feiyue had taken it seriously and had kept asking Bai Moqing without end.
At the mention of yesterday, An Huaigu lifted her chin, looking upright and righteous as if she were acting on behalf of heaven.
Slowly, she said, “I saw President Xiao drinking coffee with another woman and wanted to remind you. I accidentally sent it to Feiyue.”
Bai Moqing: “…”
What a good Sister An she had. Looking at her calm, breezy manner, had she deliberately sent it to the wrong person?
Seeing Bai Moqing unable to speak, An Huaigu raised her brows at her.
No need to thank me.
Thinking that work had already started, and that the holiday would begin in two days, An Huaigu reached out and put an arm around Bai Moqing’s shoulder.
“Hey, Little Bai, why did you come to work today?”
“Meow…”
Before her voice had fallen, a soft, sticky cat cry came from some corner.
But there were no cats in the office building. Security would never allow any animal to run into the company.
An Huaigu searched around the office.
“Meow…”
Another cat cry reached An Huaigu’s ears.
It was not an illusion.
Looking carefully, she saw a little orange cat poking her head out from Bai Moqing’s open coat. Four paws clung tightly to the clothes at Bai Moqing’s right waist.
“You… you brought a cat to the company?”
An Huaigu froze slightly, then reached out to hold the little orange cat.
A fluffy little body, pink little paws, and bright, clear eyes that were round and wide. No one could resist such a cute creature, let alone An Huaigu, who had a girlish heart.
Unfortunately, she liked the little orange cat, but the little orange cat did not like her.
The little orange cat pushed away An Huaigu’s hand that was trying to take liberties with her. Remembering that An Huaigu had once bought her canned fish, she did not show her sharp claws. She only pushed her with her soft paw pads.
“Ah, this cat is so cute.”
The little orange cat’s refusal looked to An Huaigu like shy resistance. After praising her, An Huaigu wrapped her arms around the little orange cat and took her down from Bai Moqing.
The little orange cat lifted a paw, wanting to refuse, but then her face sank into a patch of softness that gave off a strong magnolia scent.
The little orange cat lifted her head.
An Huaigu pressed her little head down and rubbed her for a while. Then she tugged at the little orange cat’s ears and raised her head to Bai Moqing.
“This little orange cat is a bit thin.”
She lifted the little orange cat higher and looked over her belly. Beneath the white fur, a few tiny pink beads were faintly visible.
“She has not developed yet.”
“Awoo!”
Being taken advantage of made the little orange cat angry. Her fur instantly puffed up like foxtail grass.
If she had not promised Bai Moqing before coming to the company that no matter what happened, she would not speak or change into human form, she would definitely beat An Huaigu up right now.
This hateful woman!
Seeing that the little orange cat had shown her sharp claws and looked ready to scratch An Huaigu’s face, Bai Moqing quickly carried the little orange cat back into her arms.
“Sister An, you scared her.”
She smoothed the little orange cat’s fur.
“Her courage is that small?”
An Huaigu did not quite believe it.
The little orange cat leaned sideways against Bai Moqing’s chest.
“Meow…”
She lifted her head and gave a soft cry. Bai Moqing understood what she meant. Protecting the little orange cat, she said, “Mm. She got lost for a while, and I only just found her. I was afraid she would be too lonely at home, so I brought her to the company. Sister An, if the corporate management department finds out, will…”
“Do not worry. They do not dare manage this floor.”
An Huaigu stretched out a finger and poked the little orange cat’s belly.
“Right, where is Feiyue? I heard her say she does not need to go to school or work. Is she not at home?”
Bai Moqing glanced at Feiyue, who had turned into her original form in her arms, and lied without changing her expression.
“She went out to play. She will be back in a few days.”
An Huaigu still had many questions she wanted to ask, but the phone suddenly rang.
It was the internal line, a call from the security room.
“Hello.”
An Huaigu answered the phone.
The security guard looked at the black Audi stopped outside the barrier gate. Covering the phone, he lowered his voice and said, “Assistant An, President Zheng from Yangjing is visiting.”
There was only Jingke on today’s visitor list, not Yangjing.
The security guard vaguely remembered the manager mentioning that if someone from Yangjing came, they had to ask the president’s secretary office before allowing them in.
“Got it. Have her wait outside. I will call you back in a moment.”
An Huaigu had just hung up when two more cars arrived outside the company gate. It was Jing Tianmu, who had made an appointment earlier.
Now that Xiao Group and Jingke were cooperating, even without an appointment, Jingke people could enter the company directly and sit in the reception room. Unlike Zheng Yanfei, who had to wait at the gate for security to report, with whether she could enter still unknown.
“President Xiao, Zheng Yanfei is here. Security stopped her at the gate. Should we let her in?”
An Huaigu knocked open the president’s office door. She was very curious about Zheng Yanfei’s sudden visit.
Xiao Xing was reading a document. She gave no comment on An Huaigu’s question.
Only after finishing the current page did she lift her head. Seeing the confusion in An Huaigu’s eyes, she smiled lightly and sighed.
“I did not expect her to receive the news so quickly.”
Before, she had once told Zheng Yanfei that Xiao Group would no longer have any cooperation with Yangjing. But she had never put it into action.
This time, the project proposal Zhu Dongliang submitted contained a cooperative project with Yangjing. The two of them must have already exchanged information long ago.
She had only just told Shen Li to delete the cooperation project with Yangjing, and Zheng Yanfei had already come over so quickly. Who had leaked the news to her?
An Huaigu looked blank. “What news?”
Xiao Xing only smiled without answering. She stood and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, looking toward the company gate.
Then she ordered, “Let her in.”
At some point, the little orange cat and Bai Moqing had appeared at the door.
After Xiao Xing finished speaking, the little orange cat let out a fierce little meow.
Hearing the sound, Xiao Xing turned back. The little orange cat awooed at her again, and Xiao Xing easily understood what she was saying.
The little orange cat was threatening her:
Do not meet other women!
Xiao Xing smiled. “Moqing, you come too.”
She knew everything that had happened next door.
She looked at An Huaigu, then at the little orange cat hooking one paw into Bai Moqing’s pants. Xiao Xing cast a binding art and said to An Huaigu, “Huaigu, watch this cat. Do not let her run around.”
