A ball of orange shadow flew out of the bedroom.
The little orange cat leaped up and slapped away Xue Shichu’s hand that was holding Bai Moqing’s arm. Then she climbed onto Bai Moqing’s shoulder, bared her teeth at Xue Shichu, and let out a low growl.
“Awoo…”
She was warning Xue Shichu. She was not allowed to touch her person, and she definitely should not think about sleeping with her person.
A cat with an extremely strong possessive streak did not hide her claim over what belonged to her at all.
Xue Shichu, who had been slapped senseless, stared blankly at the bristling little orange cat and asked Bai Moqing, “Did you not say it ran away from home?”
She glanced at the back of her hand. Good, good. This cat had not scratched her. Otherwise, there would now be three bloody lines there.
Xiao Xing walked to Bai Moqing’s side and stroked the little orange cat.
“She often runs out to play. She comes back whenever she wants.” Xiao Xing explained with a serious face, “Do not get too close to Moqing in front of her. She gets jealous.”
She looked at the little orange cat approvingly and emphasized, “Especially do not say anything about sleeping with Moqing. She will bristle and scratch people.”
Under Xiao Xing’s stroking, the fur that had puffed up like a dandelion smoothed back down.
The little orange cat meowed twice and rubbed against Bai Moqing’s cheek.
Bai Moqing patted the little orange cat’s head and said, “Get down.”
Then she lifted her eyes to Xue Shichu. “My little orange cat is just like this. As for Ye Gelan, there is actually nothing much to talk about. Instead of learning about her through me, it is better for you to go find her yourself.”
The little orange cat jumped down from Bai Moqing’s shoulder. With her tail raised, she walked back to the bedroom, looking back every three steps and somehow moving with both legs on the same side, extremely domineering.
Once she entered the bedroom, Yun Su picked up the little orange cat and closed the door. In a somewhat low voice, she asked, “You like Bai Moqing that much?”
After the two of them got together, every time Yun Su wanted to do something more intimate, Feiyue always found all kinds of reasons to refuse. Her body was clearly already moved enough to flush red, but she could still keep a trace of clear reason.
Seeing the hurt look in Yun Su’s eyes, the little orange cat lifted a soft pink paw pad and stroked Yun Su’s chin. She looked up at Yun Su. “Yunyun, are you unhappy?”
Yun Su forced out a smile that looked strained at a glance and denied it. “No.”
The soft paw pad felt very comfortable against her. Looking at the white, fluffy, soft belly exposed as Feiyue lay on her back in her arms, Yun Su’s gaze became gentle. She rubbed Feiyue’s belly lightly and said, “I am just a little jealous. In your heart, Bai Moqing ranks first, and I only rank second.”
Seeing her so sad, Feiyue changed into human form and hooked both arms around Yun Su’s neck, smiling brightly.
“That is not true. Qingqing is first in my heart, and you are first too.”
The sweet-talking cat was online.
“She is family. You are my lover.”
Leaning against Yun Su’s full chest and listening to her heartbeat slowly speed up, Feiyue closed her eyes.
“Yunyun’s heartbeat is saying, I want to kiss the cute girl in my arms.”
She lifted her chin. The corners of her lips curved slightly, as if she were waiting for a kiss.
“Only lovers can… mm…”
Xue Shichu pulled her gaze back from the closed bedroom door.
She kept feeling that there was something indescribably strange about this little orange cat, but when she tried to think carefully, she could not figure out what it was. She turned to look at the two people standing side by side and returned to the main topic.
“You mean I should go pursue Ye Gelan?”
With this level of comprehension, Bai Moqing was slightly speechless.
“The best way to understand a person is to become friends with her yourself. The Ye Gelan I know is definitely different from the Ye Gelan you know.”
Afraid Xue Shichu would take the wrong path, she reminded her, “She is your brother’s girlfriend. You can also learn about her through your brother. He definitely understands her better than I do.”
Doctor Xue’s brows furrowed deeply in thought.
Bai Moqing glanced at the sofa spread with clean new sheets and said, “I will have to wrong you by making you spend the night on the sofa.”
After saying this, she pulled Xiao Xing back to the bedroom.
Deep in the night, hazy moonlight passed through layer after layer of clouds and mist and fell on the ground.
Xue Shichu lay on the sofa in her clothes, both hands under her head. All sounds were still. Occasionally, the sound of a motor came from far away, making the night seem even quieter.
But Xue Shichu could not fall asleep no matter what. By the moonlight, she turned her head and looked at the two bedrooms.
It was this quiet. Were they really not doing anything?
Xue Shichu turned onto her side and stretched out her hand to grab the phone on the coffee table. She flipped through her contacts and found Ye Gelan, hesitating over whether to send her a message.
It was the middle of the night. That did not seem very good, right?
That was what she thought, but her hands had already typed the words and sent them.
Are you asleep?
The instant the message was sent, Xue Shichu regretted it. She long-pressed the message, wanting to recall it. After hesitating, she gave up.
Since she had already sent it, she might as well see whether Ye Gelan would chat with her. Maybe they could start talking.
Xue Shichu stared at the chat window and waited for a reply.
But after waiting for a long time, Ye Gelan did not reply.
Xue Shichu comforted herself. It was so late. She must have gone to sleep. Besides, Ye Gelan was her brother’s girlfriend. They had only added each other on WeChat and had not even exchanged a greeting. If someone suddenly asked in the middle of the night whether she was asleep, any normal person would not reply.
Just as Xue Shichu was about to close WeChat, a few words suddenly appeared at the top of the chat window, reminding her that the other person was typing.
Her heart instantly tightened.
Xue Shichu gripped her phone, not knowing what Ye Gelan would reply.
The words “the other person is typing” stayed there for a long time, but Ye Gelan’s reply still did not come.
Xue Shichu turned over and sat up.
The words changed back to Ye Gelan’s name.
Xue Shichu’s throat tightened, but nothing came through.
Time passed minute by minute, second by second.
Xue Shichu lay back down on the sofa and let out a long sigh at the chat window. She pretended she had never seen those words and closed WeChat.
As the sky was about to brighten, sleepiness finally swept over her. When everyone else got up, Xue Shichu fell into a deep sleep.
An Huaigu was leaning against her desk, drinking freshly brewed tea. Today, she wore a dark coffee-colored down jacket, but underneath it was a thin, low-neck T-shirt.
Seeing Bai Moqing come to work, surprise flashed over her face. She set down her cup and said, “Morning, Little Bai. You came to work today?”
These words made Bai Moqing feel a little embarrassed.
Her relationship with Xiao Xing was now something everyone in the company knew about. On any day she did not come to work, the people in the company whose mouths could not stay idle would gather in twos and threes in the pantry and gossip secretly about her and Xiao Xing, saying that she had once again been worn out so badly she could not get out of bed.
Bai Moqing kept a smile and said good morning. She walked to her workstation, sat down, turned on her computer, and organized the things on her desk.
An Huaigu walked over. She leaned down and looked Bai Moqing’s face and neck over in a circle. “What happened yesterday?”
A deep, suggestive line was exposed from her low collar.
Bai Moqing did not want to see it, but she still saw the kiss marks on An Huaigu’s chest. She lifted her head and met Sister An’s curious, gossiping gaze, then said calmly, “Nothing happened. Feiyue made a fuss over nothing.”
At the mention of Feiyue, An Huaigu immediately became interested.
From first treating Feiyue as a potential rival in love to later having her gaze drawn by Feiyue, An Huaigu cleared her throat and secretly glanced at the office opposite them. Tang Yue was not in her office.
An Huaigu bent even lower, bringing her head near Bai Moqing’s cheek, and asked sneakily, “Is Feiyue really your younger sister?”
A warm breath carrying a strong perfume scent rushed at her.
Perhaps because she had spent so much time with Feiyue and learned some of her little habits, Bai Moqing subconsciously sniffed lightly and came to a conclusion.
Sister An had changed perfume.
She answered, “She is my younger sister.”
Then she asked An Huaigu in return, “Why?”
An Huaigu took out her phone and raised a brow. “I want to add your sister on WeChat.”
How was this wanting to add WeChat? This was wanting to cheat!
Bai Moqing refused righteously. “Sister An, you already have Assistant Tang.”
An Huaigu: “…”
“I just think Feiyue is interesting and very cute.”
Sure enough, people were all drawn to young girls like Feiyue.
At first, Sister An had even thought Feiyue was affected and pretentious. After interacting with her a few times, she actually thought Feiyue was cute.
Unfortunately, Feiyue did not like Sister An. Although after knowing Sister An had bought canned fish for her, her good impression had increased a little, she still did not like her.
Other than Xiao Xing, Feiyue disliked any woman who had ideas about Bai Moqing.
Thinking of this, Bai Moqing could not help smiling.
An Huaigu looked baffled. “What are you laughing at?”
Bai Moqing put away her smile and shook her head. She picked up her phone, opened Feiyue’s WeChat, and handed it to An Huaigu.
“This is Feiyue’s WeChat.”
Close to eleven, Xiao Xing came to the company.
At home, she had read documents while waiting for Xue Shichu to wake up. After Xue Shichu woke, Xiao Xing personally drove her home, then came to the company.
An Huaigu lay gloomily over her desk, staring at her phone.
She had added Feiyue, and Feiyue had actually rejected her!
She added her again.
Rejected again.
Heartbroken.
When Xiao Xing passed by their office and saw An Huaigu looking as if she had fallen out of love, she glanced at the empty office opposite, then entered with good intentions.
After calling “Xiao Mo,” she looked at An Huaigu and asked directly, without the slightest turn, “What happened, Huaigu? Got dumped?”
You are the one who got dumped!
An Huaigu sat up straight. “President Xiao really knows how to joke.”
She picked up the stack of documents on the corner of her desk, stood, and handed them to Xiao Xing. “These documents are all waiting for your signature, President Xiao.”
Hurry up and go be busy, President Xiao. Stop making jokes as cold as this one!
She had even used the respectful form of address, so Xiao Xing stopped teasing An Huaigu.
“Let Xiao Mo bring them over.”
Then she turned and left their office.
Bai Moqing carried the documents into Xiao Xing’s office and did not close the door.
Xiao Xing glanced at the half-open door. After Bai Moqing set down the documents, she called her to stop.
“Wait, Moqing.”
Bai Moqing, who was about to leave, stopped and turned back. Seeing that Xiao Xing looked like she had something to say, she walked back to the desk.
“President Xiao, is there anything else you need?”
“Uh…”
What Xiao Xing wanted to say to Bai Moqing was private. But once Bai Moqing called her President Xiao, Xiao Xing felt it would be better to talk after they went home.
She changed her words. “Work seriously. Do not do things unrelated to work.”
Bai Moqing put away her professional smile. “Is President Xiao referring to browsing Weibo and forums online, or specifically to not looking at a certain film queen’s Weibo post?”
“You saw it?”
Her finger moved slightly, and with a bang, the office door closed by itself.
Bai Moqing nodded. At the same time, she confirmed the guess in Xiao Xing’s heart.
“That Weibo post she made, ‘I am waiting for you.’ The person she is waiting for is me.”
The unease Xiao Xing had pressed down surged back into her heart.
Xiao Xing narrowed her eyes slightly. Her heart was overturned with stormy waves, but her face remained calm and composed.
She smiled faintly, as if she did not care, and asked, “What is she waiting for you to do?”
