Why Aren’t You Cultivating Immortality? (GL) Chapter 7

Chapter 7

Because of Xiao Xing’s one sentence, Bai Moqing stayed in the archive room and did not leave. Only after she finished organizing every file and book did she realize that the sky outside had already turned dark.
Standing at the archive room door, she looked at the pitch-black office. Only the computer monitor and mouse on the desk gave off a little light.
Bai Moqing turned off the archive room lights, locked the door, returned the keys to the drawer and locked them away, then shut down the computer and went home.
Just as she walked out of the office, she heard two voices speaking near the break room. While waiting for the elevator, she listened for a while and realized they were discussing President Xiao.
“Did you hear? President Xiao has a thing with someone from the archive room.”
Bai Moqing’s breath caught. She and President Xiao were completely innocent. They had only looked for one document together. How had her coworkers decided they had a thing?
“No wonder. As soon as she came back, she went looking for An Huaigu.”
Hearing that they were talking about Sister An, Bai Moqing’s face flushed. She had imagined too much.
“Shh, keep your voice down. Don’t say names. If someone hears and it reaches President Xiao, none of us will end well.”
“What are you afraid of? It’s already this late. Not many people are staying to work overtime. Besides, there are only two people in the archive room. Of course it’s An Huaigu. It can’t be that silent gourd, can it? Ah, how did President Xiao fall for An Huaigu? Look at me…”
“Hahaha, stop being shameless.”
Ding. The elevator doors opened. Bai Moqing quickly walked in. As for what she had just heard, she treated it only as gossip for after tea and meals.
When the elevator reached the first floor, the bright lobby had two security guards sitting at the front desk. Hearing the sound, they looked up. Seeing Bai Moqing, they lowered their heads again.
As usual, after Bai Moqing left the company, she walked toward a nearby street with few people. She had only taken two steps when the sound of brakes came from behind her. She turned her head. A white sedan had stopped steadily beside her.
The window lowered, and Xiao Xing’s face appeared before Bai Moqing. “Get in.” As the words fell, the car door opened automatically.
Those two cold, temperatureless words carried a power that bewitched the heart. Bai Moqing sat in a daze. Only when Xiao Xing said, “Fasten your seat belt,” did Bai Moqing come back to herself.
“President Xiao, where are you taking me?” Bai Moqing glanced at the door handle, wanting to get out.
Expressionless, Xiao Xing said, “Where do you live? I’ll take you home.” Her voice was very cold, yet it warmed the heart.
“Thank you, but there’s no need.” Bai Moqing refused. She put her hand on the door handle and pulled, but it would not open. Awkwardly, she looked back at Xiao Xing. “President Xiao, I can just take the bus home.”
Xiao Xing said nothing. Her cool, rippleless eyes quietly looked at her. Under the dim light, those eyes were like stars, bright and shining.
Bai Moqing surrendered. She obediently gave her address.
After she fastened her seat belt, Xiao Xing pressed the accelerator, and the car drove off.
Looking at the scenery retreating outside the window, Bai Moqing suddenly remembered the gossip in the break room. Did President Xiao and Sister An really have a relationship?
Just as she was guessing, Xiao Xing suddenly asked, “Did you finish organizing the files in those cabinets?”
“Mm.” Bai Moqing turned back. Xiao Xing glanced at her, focused on driving, and said nothing more.
The car became quiet again.
That silence lasted until Xiao Xing’s phone vibrated.
Bai Moqing looked over and saw the name Huaigu on the screen. Her heart jolted. It was Sister An!
She looked up at Xiao Xing. Since Bai Moqing was here, it would be inconvenient for President Xiao to answer, right?
But that was not the case.
Xiao Xing calmly tapped answer. An Huaigu’s voice came through the car Bluetooth. “Ah Xing, are you off work?”
Xiao Xing gave a faint mm. An Huaigu’s lazy, slightly husky voice came again. “It’s already this late. Just come straight to my place.”
Those words were unclear and ambiguous. Bai Moqing’s heart skipped, and she instantly forgot to breathe. So President Xiao and Sister An really did have a relationship…
An indescribable discomfort rose in her heart, stuffy and blocked.
Xiao Xing noticed the change in Bai Moqing’s expression and answered coldly, “The place doesn’t change. Eight-thirty at the cafe.” After saying that, she hung up directly.
Did this count as finding out a huge secret? Bai Moqing clenched her hand and said, “President Xiao, you can let me out up ahead. I’ll go home by myself. Don’t let me delay your business.”
Xiao Xing turned her head and looked at her. “You won’t.”
In the end, Xiao Xing still drove her home.
The car stopped at the entrance to the residential complex. Before the security guard could come over, Bai Moqing unfastened her seat belt and said, “President Xiao, you don’t need to drive me in. I can walk in by myself.”
Xiao Xing nodded and pressed the button to open the door for her.
Bai Moqing got out. Through the car window, she said goodbye to Xiao Xing. “Drive safely.” She stood in place and watched Xiao Xing leave. The white car merged into traffic until she could no longer see it.
A white porcelain bowl sat on the coffee table, filled to the brim with cat food. The little orange cat was chewing away at it when Bai Moqing suddenly appeared in front of her.
Cat food that had not yet been swallowed was still in her mouth. The little orange cat looked at Bai Moqing awkwardly, wanting to cover her face and curl into a ball.
Bai Moqing did not care whether Feiyue ate cat food. Cats eating cat food was very normal.
She said to the little orange cat, “I’m back.” Then she turned and entered the bathroom.
The little orange cat swallowed the cat food, jumped off the table, changed into human form, walked to the bathroom door, and knocked. “Bai Moqing, what’s wrong?”
She had left home this morning without saying a word, and when she came back at night, her face looked like an eggplant beaten by frost. Had someone bullied her?
“Nothing.” Bai Moqing took off her clothes, turned on the shower, and stood under it with her eyes closed.
Warm water slowly flowed down from the top of her head. Steaming heat wrapped around her, forming a sharp contrast with Xiao Xing’s icy voice.
Feiyue’s voice sounded in front of her. “Bai Moqing, are you really all right?” Before the words finished, her vision blurred, and Bai Moqing sent her out of the bathroom. She fell onto the floor.
Bai Moqing had been distracted and had not noticed Feiyue entering the bathroom. By the time she realized it, Feiyue had already seen her body.
Feiyue rubbed her backside and walked to the bathroom door. Through the door, she questioned, “Bai Moqing, I was worried about you. Why did you treat me like that?”
Remembering Bai Moqing’s wet body, her clear, delicate collarbones, her small and exquisite chest, her flat, firm waist and abdomen, and her long, straight legs, Feiyue grabbed at her own full softness. It seemed Bai Moqing’s figure was better after all.
Facing Feiyue, a demon who looked human but was actually a small creature, Bai Moqing believed that if she said it was because Feiyue had seen her body, Feiyue would definitely say, “Haven’t you seen my body many times too?”
So she simply did not answer.
Feiyue stood at the door for a while. Seeing that Bai Moqing did not want to talk to her, she changed back into a cat and returned to the living room. With a spring, she jumped onto the sofa, lay on her side, and stared at the bathroom door, waiting for Bai Moqing to come out. From time to time, she flicked her fluffy little tail.
After Bai Moqing finished showering, she shifted forms with a divine thought and returned directly to her bedroom.
To prevent Feiyue from barging into her bedroom the way she had barged into the bathroom, Bai Moqing took four-direction Eight Trigrams Formation Flags from her storage ring and set a restriction around the bedroom.
Feeling the ripple of spiritual energy, the little orange cat shot upright, jumped off the sofa, and ran toward Bai Moqing’s bedroom like an arrow from a bow. Bang. She hit the door and was bounced away by a white light.
Her little paw rubbed her forehead. It seemed a bump had risen.
The door opened. Bai Moqing stood at the doorway in a pure white coral fleece robe and said to the little orange cat, “There is a restriction on the bedroom. Without my permission, your activity range is only the living room and kitchen.”
After saying this, bang, she closed the door.
“Aow.” The little orange cat gave an unhappy low cry, raised her tail, and climbed back onto the sofa.
Bai Moqing lay down in bed, pulled up the quilt, and prepared to sleep.
As soon as she closed her eyes, An Huaigu’s voice sounded by her ear. Right now, President Xiao was probably on a date with Sister An at the cafe.
Bai Moqing threw off the quilt and sat cross-legged. She formed seals with both hands, closed her eyes, and spread out her divine sense, once again secretly spying.
Her divine sense covered all of H City, searching for Xiao Xing’s aura. Unexpectedly, this time she could not find her.
If a person’s aura was absent, it was very likely that…
Bai Moqing’s first reaction was that something had happened to Xiao Xing. Her face instantly turned pale. Then she remembered she could use her phone to contact her. She hurriedly picked up the phone on the bedside table, about to dial, when she suddenly realized she did not have President Xiao’s number.
Sister An!
Bai Moqing thought of An Huaigu and quickly called her.
The phone rang for half a minute before it was finally answered. An Huaigu’s charming, seductive voice came through. “Little Bai?”
Bai Moqing gave an mm.
Hearing Bai Moqing’s voice, An Huaigu laughed. “Calling me all of a sudden? Is something wrong? Or… did you miss me?”
Bai Moqing kept calm. “You didn’t come to the company today. I wanted to ask if something happened.”
“Oh, that. I’m working outside. President Xiao ordered it. I forgot to tell you.” An Huaigu picked up a sugar cube and dropped it into her coffee, stirring gently. “You care so much about me. Do you like me?”
Sister An dared to say these things, which meant she was not with President Xiao right now. Bai Moqing used the excuse that she was going to sleep and hung up.
Then she spread out her divine sense to look for An Huaigu. In the end, she found her in a dim cafe.
It was a modern European-style cafe with soothing instrumental music playing. There were not many customers. An Huaigu sat in a corner seat by the window, propping her face with one hand and holding a coffee cup as she looked outside, occasionally taking a sip.
Bai Moqing remembered the first time she met Xiao Xing. Xiao Xing had also been sitting in a corner seat by the window. That blocked, stuffy feeling returned. Were Sister An and President Xiao really in the kind of relationship people said? Otherwise, how could they have such similar habits?
Suppressing her wild thoughts, she was about to use the cafe as the center and search for Xiao Xing when Xiao Xing pushed open the glass door and entered. She was safe and sound, expressionless, and still exuded that alluring abstinent aura.
After entering, she did not look around. Her gaze landed accurately on An Huaigu, and she walked toward her.
Seeing this, Bai Moqing could not say what she felt. She withdrew her divine sense and lay down on her side.
The moment Xiao Xing entered the cafe, she discovered Bai Moqing spying on her. She walked calmly to the seat across from An Huaigu and sat down. Just as she was about to speak, that spying divine sense disappeared. Doubt rose in her heart. What did Bai Moqing want to do?
Looking at An Huaigu’s spring-breeze smile, Xiao Xing frowned. Did Bai Moqing not want to spy on her, but on An Huaigu?
She spoke coldly. “Why did you ask to meet me?” The night was cool as water, but her voice was three parts colder than the night.
An Huaigu raised a hand to signal the waiter over and smiled. “Order a cup of coffee first. We can drink and talk.”
