Why Aren’t You Cultivating Immortality? (GL) Chapter 53

Chapter 53

After An Huaigu left, Xiao Xing walked out of the bedroom. Only now did she know just how much An Huaigu cared about her Xiao Mo.
She glanced at Bai Moqing, who had returned to the living room from the entryway, then turned and entered the kitchen. Seeing that Xiao Xing still had the mood to make dinner at a time like this, Bai Moqing walked over and stood at the door, watching her.
The purple-red kettle was filled halfway with water. A few seconds after it was plugged in, the hiss of boiling water sounded.
Bai Moqing was just about to ask what they were eating tonight when her hand tightened. Caught off guard, Xiao Xing pulled her into her arms. Bai Moqing did not understand. “A-Xing?”
Xiao Xing wrapped an arm around her waist. Her hand rubbed teasingly over Bai Moqing’s back. “Huaigu really cares about you.” Her eyes held a faint smile, but her tone carried a sour taste.
The living room had gone quiet. Feiyue quietly opened the door and peeked out. Seeing that An Huaigu was gone, she breathed out in relief and walked out openly.
When she reached the tea table, she glanced toward the kitchen and quickly covered her eyes.
Inside the kitchen, a vivid, heated kiss was taking place.
Feiyue secretly opened her fingers. Bai Moqing had hooked her arms around Xiao Xing’s neck and tilted her head slightly up, while Xiao Xing supported Bai Moqing’s waist with one hand and pressed the back of her head with the other. Their lips and tongues tangled, the kiss hot enough to make blood boil.
Unable to help it, Feiyue swallowed and licked her own lips, staring without blinking at Bai Moqing and Xiao Xing’s intimacy.
The long kiss continued until the bubbling sound of boiling water came from behind them. Only then did the two separate.
Bai Moqing opened her eyes. From the corner of her eye, she saw a figure outside the kitchen. Turning and seeing Feiyue, her cheeks instantly heated. Before she could think of how to explain, the scene changed. Xiao Xing carried her back to the bedroom.
Watching Bai Moqing and Xiao Xing vanish from where they stood, and hearing the bedroom door close with a bang beside her, Feiyue looked at the bedroom, then at the kitchen, and sighed. Xiao Xing was going to torment her Qingqing again.
With so much torment, she did not know whether Qingqing could endure it.
Just as another kiss was about to fall, a complicated look appeared in Bai Moqing’s mind. Bai Moqing remembered Sikou Yan and quickly raised her hands to cup Xiao Xing’s cheeks, stopping her kiss.
“A-Xing, I met Sikou Yan today.”
Hearing Sikou Yan’s name, Xiao Xing stopped. “Where did you meet her?”
Leaving out the part where Sikou Yan had told her to kiss her, Bai Moqing told Xiao Xing everything that had happened when she met Sikou Yan today. After speaking, she realized Xiao Xing’s expression was not right.
Xiao Xing’s expression was grave. She did not know whether to tell Bai Moqing that after the investigation, Sikou Yan’s identity looked completely normal. Her childhood, growth, and acting history all had photos as proof. Like Xiao Xing herself, she had the identity of an ordinary person.
But the true identity hidden behind the ordinary one left no trace at all.
What Bai Moqing told her gave her a new direction. They had not come here for no reason. Her so-called identity as the one who carried out the Heavenly Dao might be more accurately described as a prison warden.
“A-Xing, what’s wrong?” The ends of Xiao Xing’s hair brushed Bai Moqing’s collarbone, making it itch. Bai Moqing swept Xiao Xing’s hanging hair behind her and, following the motion, hooked her arms around Xiao Xing’s neck. “Did you think of something?”
Xiao Xing nodded. After some hesitation, she told her, “I forgot how I came here. From the moment I had memories, I was the Heavenly Dao of this world.”
No one knew when the Heavenly Dao began existing, or when it would disappear. Bai Moqing lowered her eyes and thought for a moment, then raised her head and said, “A-Xing, if we want to understand this world, right now, finding Sikou Yan is the only way.”
“You want to find her?” Unease rose in Xiao Xing’s heart. She did not want Bai Moqing to have too much contact with Sikou Yan. That woman had far too many secrets behind her.
Xiao Xing had known Sikou Yan for years, but Sikou Yan had never shown anything unusual. Not until Xiao Xing and Bai Moqing got together…
Was her target Bai Moqing?
Xiao Xing sat up in shock and spread out her divine sense to look for Sikou Yan.
Under bright lights, Sikou Yan leaned lazily against the armrest of a sofa. Across from her stood a woman with flaxen-gold wavy hair. One hand was on her waist while the other waved along with her voice. She was speaking excitedly to Sikou Yan about the Weibo incident.
Sikou Yan had her head propped on one hand, eyes closed, letting her manager chatter on. Suddenly, she frowned. She sensed a probing divine sense. Finding that it was Xiao Xing, the corner of her mouth lifted slightly.
Manager Chen saw that Best Actress Yan could still smile at a time like this, and she was so angry she almost could not breathe. She patted her chest, clasped her hands together, and pleaded, “Little ancestor, you are the best artist under me. Step by step, you reached where you are today. Do you know how much effort I spent? How much money the company spent? Please, be kind. Post a Weibo saying last night was a joke. As for that same-sex scandal or whatever, the company will settle it for you…”
Xiao Xing withdrew her divine sense, picked up her phone, and sent Sikou Yan a message. She said to Bai Moqing, “I can’t see Sikou Yan’s cultivation. I asked her to meet tomorrow.”
The reply came very quickly. But to Xiao Xing’s surprise, Sikou Yan refused to meet.
I posted a willful Weibo yesterday and got caught by my manager for ideological education. I can’t get out for the next few days.
Looking at Xiao Xing’s message and her own reply, Sikou Yan remembered Bai Moqing’s lost and confused expression. She sent Xiao Xing another message.
When I can go out, I’ll come find you.
It was a promise with no set date. After sending the message, Sikou Yan raised her head and said to her manager, “Sister Chen, how much would I need to pay if I terminated my contract?”
“Ter… terminate?” Chen Shuyan was so frightened her face lost color. “You want to terminate your contract?”
Sikou Yan smiled gently. “I’m not terminating. I only asked casually.”
Her emotions rose and fell like a roller coaster. Chen Shuyan picked up the water on the table, unscrewed it, and gulped some down. “I’m getting old. Don’t scare me.”
She had just swallowed that mouthful of water when Sikou Yan said to her, “But Sister Chen, I do have one request. The company is not allowed to interfere with the matter about my same-sex rumor…”
Xiao Xing replied with a single “okay,” then placed the phone on the nightstand. When she turned, Bai Moqing was looking at her thoughtfully.
Looking more closely, Xiao Xing realized Bai Moqing was not really looking at her. Her gaze passed through Xiao Xing’s body.
Sikou Yan’s voice and Xiao Xing’s voice mixed together. Bai Moqing stared at Xiao Xing with unfocused eyes.
This world does not allow cultivators to become immortals.
One day, you will know why you are here, why I came here.
You will regret being with Xiao Xing…
Her chest hurt suddenly, as if a sharp sword had pierced through it. Bai Moqing clutched her chest. A very blurry voice flashed through the bottom of her heart.
It sounded like Xiao Xing’s voice, but it was distant and unclear. She could not hear what it said.
“Xiao Mo!” Xiao Xing nervously held Bai Moqing. Her hand covered Bai Moqing’s hand where it pressed against her chest, and she asked worriedly, “Does your chest hurt?”
Bai Moqing turned her hand and broke free from Xiao Xing’s, then grabbed Xiao Xing’s wrist. “A-Xing, let’s just live like this. Don’t go looking for Sikou Yan. It has been thousands of years. This time, let’s be together properly.”
A layer of cold sweat had formed on her forehead. People all had a sixth sense. Bai Moqing’s instinct told her not to look for the answer.
Just now, Bai Moqing had wanted to find Sikou Yan. Why had she changed her mind so quickly?
Xiao Xing hesitated, then held Bai Moqing and lay down on her side, pulling her into her arms. “All right. We won’t look for her.”
Deep into the night, wind suddenly rose. The trees on both sides of the road swayed with the wind, making low whistling sounds. The wind grew stronger. Branches could not withstand its force and snapped. After the wind came a pouring rain.
A dragon’s cry faintly sounded in the distance. Bai Moqing, who had been sleeping lightly, opened her eyes. Xiao Xing, who was holding her from behind, also woke. Before Bai Moqing could ask what had happened, Xiao Xing told her, “The True Dragon Secret Realm has appeared.”
The little orange cat was curled into a ball on the bed, trembling. The powerful true dragon aura scared this little cat demon so much she wanted to cry. In a shaking, milky, cute voice, she called, “Bai Moqing, I’m scared. Come protect me!”
Thinking that Bai Moqing was sleeping with Xiao Xing and definitely would not care whether she lived or died, she called Yun Su’s name instead. “Yun Su, hurry back! Yun Su, Yun Su…”
The air rippled like water. A gray figure appeared with a whoosh. Yun Su reached the bed in two or three steps, lifted the quilt, and pulled the little orange cat hiding under it into her arms.
Her wide sleeve covered the little orange cat’s body. Yun Su rubbed the little orange cat’s head, comforting her still-shaking body. “Feiyue, don’t be afraid. I’m back.”
“Aowu.” The little orange cat pawed her way into Yun Su’s clothes. Her fluffy body pressed tightly against smooth skin. Yun Su’s body stiffened. She held down the little orange cat, who was still moving around. “Feiyue, don’t move randomly.”
The little orange cat adjusted her position, poked her head out, and said, “All right. I won’t move.” Her little paws hooked Yun Su’s lapel as she raised her head and asked, “Yun Yun, I heard a dragon cry. Has the True Dragon Secret Realm appeared?”
Every time there was wild wind and heavy rain, either someone was undergoing a tribulation, or a secret realm was about to appear.
Carrying the little orange cat, Yun Su walked to the window. Her gaze passed through the rain curtain and clouds. A huge dragon could faintly be seen moving through the clouds.
Yun Su said, “This is the sign before it appears.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Xiao Xing and Bai Moqing appeared in their room. Xiao Xing walked to Yun Su’s side and glanced at the moving dragon shadow. She said to Yun Su, “Follow that dragon shadow. It can lead you to the True Dragon Secret Realm.”
Yun Su turned her head and met Xiao Xing’s encouraging gaze. After hesitating briefly, she pulled the little orange cat out of her clothes and stuffed her into Xiao Xing’s arms.
“I’ll go now.”
It was the first time the little orange cat had been held by Xiao Xing. Out of instinct, she sniffed Xiao Xing’s scent. It was a faint, elegant orchid fragrance, mixed with Bai Moqing’s light body scent.
When she raised her head and saw Xiao Xing’s cold eyes, her body shook. She turned and shouted toward Bai Moqing, “Qingqing, hold me!”
Before Bai Moqing could reach out, Xiao Xing let go. The little orange cat fell to the floor.
Luckily, her body was light and nimble. The little orange cat landed on all four paws, glanced at Xiao Xing, and shot into Bai Moqing’s arms.
The warm embrace was full of safety. In Bai Moqing’s arms, she did not need to fear the true dragon aura outside, and she did not need to fear Xiao Xing bullying her.
The little orange cat hugged Bai Moqing’s hand and raised her head to ask, “Qingqing, how long will Yun Su be gone?”
Bai Moqing knew nothing about this secret realm and instinctively looked at Xiao Xing. Xiao Xing turned and looked at the sky. The cloud-filled sky was dark and lightless. Against the dragon shadow, the flood dragon looked especially small.
Xiao Xing answered for Bai Moqing, “It depends on Yun Su’s fated chance…”
