The Heroine Made a Pact With Senior Sister (GL) Chapter 87

Chapter 87

At midnight, a thin new moon hung in the sky, quiet and peaceful.
Huixue sat up in the night and glanced at Mu Yinfeng sleeping soundly on the opposite bed. She said nothing, then tiptoed out of the room.
Under a large willow tree outside the inn, a slender figure had already been waiting for her. The half mask on that person’s face gleamed coldly beneath the moon.
“Why did you call me out in the middle of the night?” Huixue looked around. Only after seeing no one nearby did she ask.
The masked youth under the willow said nothing. He raised his hand and pointed a finger at Huixue’s forehead. The movement was so fast that Huixue had no time to dodge.
His finger struck the center of Huixue’s brow, and she could not help giving a muffled groan. The frost-snow pattern on her forehead suddenly lit, and pale-blue light cut through the night.
“The memory seal is undone,” Biyuntian said very softly, so softly that if Huixue took one step back, she would not hear him clearly. “How does Your Highness Huixue feel now?”
Huixue pressed one hand to her forehead as if she had remembered something. Her expression changed slightly, and her body swayed. She nearly fell.
Seeing this, Biyuntian hurriedly used power in his palm to support her and sighed. “Although these things are hard for Your Highness Huixue to accept, after thinking it over, Yuntian still decided it was better to let Your Highness know the truth.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty Ice Emperor.” Huixue sighed. “No wonder I always felt something was familiar but could not remember it. So that was it. But why would she go this far?”
In Huixue’s palm lay a teardrop-shaped ice crystal. Although Mu Yinfeng had sealed her memories, she had not been able to take away these things that were tied to those memories by countless threads.
“Could it be that Your Highness Huixue made her sad?” Biyuntian’s gaze was distant. The water-blue eye exposed outside the mask was especially deep. “I failed in this matter. I do not think I have the right to comment.”
“Sad?” Huixue recalled the past and shook her head dispiritedly. “Indeed. I have never made her happy.”
“Your Highness Huixue should actually take more initiative.” Biyuntian slowly placed his hand on his mask, touching the cold metal, and sighed. “But not now.”
“Not now?” Huixue froze. “What do you mean?”
“She always has her own plans when she acts. She does not do things on a sudden whim,” Biyuntian said slowly. “So Your Highness Huixue should pretend you know nothing.”
“I cannot do that…”
“You must, even if you cannot.” Biyuntian’s voice carried some severity, as if he were scolding a disobedient junior. But very soon, it softened. “Your Highness Huixue has already lived one life again. You should not be so willful.”
“How do you know?”
“At any rate, I am currently the nominal Heaven-grade Chou-rank evil being. If I could not see even this much, would that not make me a joke?” Biyuntian said lightly. “If Your Highness Huixue truly cherishes her, then cooperate with her and help her complete the plan she has not finished. Do not ask too much, and do not get too close. If Your Highness can do that, then ten years from now, I will have something to give Your Highness. That thing will be greatly beneficial to both Your Highness and her.”
Huixue was silent for a moment, then suddenly said, “Your Majesty Ice Emperor seems to understand Yinfeng quite well. Forgive Huixue for asking, but what connection does Your Majesty have with Yinfeng?”
“Only an old friend,” Biyuntian said calmly, as if he had expected Huixue to ask this. He avoided the sharp edge of Huixue’s question. “Your Highness Huixue, her arrangements always have their own reason.”
“Is that so?” Huixue thought of what had happened in her previous life and felt a little lost. “Her arrangements? Your Majesty should be able to tell that she killed me. Sometimes I suspect that I…”
Huixue could not continue. Her words had always been limited, and now she felt even more that no matter what, she could not speak the thoughts in her heart.
She did not know what kind of attitude Mu Yinfeng had when she stayed by her side. If the Mu Yinfeng of the two lives was the same person, then such a change was almost impossible. If they were not the same person…
“Do not worry. The Miss Mu you have seen is Miss Mu,” Biyuntian said gently. “In both lives, she is the same person.”
“Since she is the same person, why would the change be so…” Huixue voiced the doubt in her heart.
She trusted Biyuntian. Biyuntian was light and distant, as if he lived outside the world. Since she was young, he had treated her like both father and elder brother. The only outsider she could trust was Biyuntian.
“Does Your Highness Huixue truly understand Miss Mu?” Biyuntian asked back.
Huixue froze.
Did she understand Mu Yinfeng?
Aside from knowing Mu Yinfeng was her fated person, she probably knew nothing else.
She remembered that in her previous life, when Chang Zui brought Mu Yinfeng back, she had not gone to see this little junior sister. Instead, she hid below Frostfall Cliff and happened to see a beautiful little girl sleeping on a green stone in the thick grass. Her dense lashes trembled slightly. Her whole body was small and delicate, as if she could dance in the palm of one’s hand.
For some reason, when Huixue saw Mu Yinfeng for the first time, she felt her whole body tremble, and she shed the first tear of her life. Her whole being was seized by a hidden desire. At that moment, she clearly knew this girl was her fated person.
The ice-snow lineage found it very hard to shed tears unless they met their fated person. That tear would condense into an ice crystal that would never melt. The ice-snow lineage often gave the ice crystal formed from their first tear to their fated person as a betrothal gift or dowry. When necessary, that ice crystal could urgently return a person of the ice-snow lineage to their side.
“Some things are better for Your Highness Huixue to remember yourself,” Biyuntian said slowly. “Even if I can say them, Your Highness may not truly feel them. Is that not right?”
At this moment, the wind pattern on the back of Huixue’s hand suddenly lit. As the light pattern brightened, a faint feeling of unease settled in her heart.
“Is it a mark?” Biyuntian leaned over slightly, but still kept a certain distance. “So Your Highness Huixue has already dual cultivated with Miss Mu?”
Hearing this, Huixue’s face immediately reddened. “It was only cultivation.”
“It does not matter.” Biyuntian smiled, looking as if everything was within his grasp. “Since the wind pattern has lit up, Miss Mu may be in danger. Your Highness Huixue should go and look.”
Biyuntian turned around and circulated power with one hand. Space and time immediately tore open, and a vortex-like door appeared before him. “I will not follow Your Highness Huixue.”
When Huixue returned to the inn entrance, she faintly saw a black shadow flash through the corridor. She wanted to chase it, but then she smelled blood drifting out.
It came from her and Mu Yinfeng’s room.
Huixue’s brows drew together. She carefully pulled the door open, and the smell of blood grew stronger.
“Yinfeng!”
Huixue quickly flashed to Mu Yinfeng’s side. The girl on the bed was turned toward the inside and did not respond.
Her body kept trembling slightly, as if she were trying hard to endure something.
Huixue reached out and touched something sticky and wet. It was blood.
“Yinfeng, what happened?” Huixue was shocked. She reached out and turned the girl on the bed over. After being moved, the girl began coughing painfully. She coughed so badly that it made one wonder whether she would stop breathing at any moment.
Fresh blood kept pouring from the corner of her lips, dyeing the shoulder of her inner robe red. Large flowers of blood bloomed across the snow-white sheets. Huixue’s heart tightened. She quickly grabbed Mu Yinfeng’s wrist. When she set it down, her face was even paler than Mu Yinfeng’s.
It was poison.
How was that possible?
Huixue quickly picked up a voice-transmission jade token, then put it back again. She swiftly lifted Mu Yinfeng and rushed straight toward Abi’s room.
Abi and Lin Qiudi were staying together. Lin Qiudi’s senses were sharp. Startled awake from her dream by someone approaching, she directly flipped out of bed, grabbed her sword, and slashed out a sword energy that pierced the night.
But the newcomer raised a hand and blocked that sword energy with one palm. Lin Qiudi had not expected this, but she did not panic. She quickly rose and moved forward, then struck out a barrier with her palm, protecting Abi behind her.
But when she saw the newcomer’s face, she asked in surprise, “Eldest Senior Sister? Yinfeng…”
“Is Abi here?” Huixue leaped in through the window. Ice and snow howled around her, and the whole room instantly became freezing cold.
No matter how deeply Abi could sleep, this still startled her awake. She rubbed her eyes. Her nose twitched, and she quickly sobered.
“Junior Sister Yinfeng is in trouble?” Abi lit the candle. By then, Huixue had already landed in the center of the room with Mu Yinfeng in her arms, and Abi quickly walked over.
The person leaning in Huixue’s arms was pale, her breath faint, and her body covered in blood. She looked tragic and terrifying.
“What happened?” Lin Qiudi’s face changed greatly. “What happened to Junior Sister Mu?”
“Poison? It is a strange poison from the Southern Frontier.” Abi’s voice trembled.
Hearing this, Lin Qiudi was shocked. “How is that possible? Is Junior Sister Mu not immune to all poisons?”
“She was struck by Xuelian’s red lotus curse mark on the field today. She probably used all the spiritual energy in her body to suppress the flare-up of the curse fire poison and had no strength or chance to force this poison out,” Abi guessed. “The poisoner chose the perfect time. Eldest Senior Sister, put her down quickly. Let her sit.”
As she spoke, Abi drew several silver needles and sealed several important acupoints on Mu Yinfeng’s body. At the same time, she took out a jade token and called Sanqi over.
“I may not be enough alone.” Abi glanced at Huixue and used a handkerchief to wipe the blood from the corner of Mu Yinfeng’s mouth, but Huixue took that task from her. “Forcing this poison out requires extremely deep power. Only when Sanqi and I work together can we do it.”
“Is that so?” Huixue’s voice was low. She sat behind Mu Yinfeng and used her body to support her. “At this Immortal Sects Assembly, are there people from the Southern Frontier?”
“Quite a few sects are from the Southern Frontier. But…” Abi hesitated. “They probably do not have the ability to prepare this kind of poison.”
“What conditions are needed to prepare this poison?”
“A thousand years of time, controlled by one person,” Abi said without thinking. “Just the thousand years alone is not something ordinary people can live through. So these small sects do not have the conditions for it at all.”
The girl in Huixue’s arms moved slightly. Huixue instinctively raised her hand. She sensed Mu Yinfeng wanted to say something, so she stopped Abi from continuing, bent close to Mu Yinfeng’s mouth, and tried hard to listen.
“Yinfeng? What do you want to say?”
“…Wu… Li…”
Mu Yinfeng moved her lips with difficulty. Before she could say more than a few words, she began coughing violently again, and bright-red blood splashed across Huixue’s sleeve.
She was suffering as if she were being tortured by a thousand cuts. Her whole body hurt terribly. Even though she was trying her hardest to endure it, this kind of pain was not something one could endure by will alone.
She wanted these people to leave quickly. Who could have thought this Immortal Sects Assembly had already become a shocking conspiracy? But she had no strength to say it now.
“Do not speak.” Huixue took Mu Yinfeng’s hand and used her other hand to wipe away the blood she coughed up. “Nothing will happen to you, Yinfeng. You cannot have an accident.”
Mu Yinfeng forced her eyes open, but she found she could not see anything clearly now. The world before her was only a blurry mass. She could not even tell who was in front of her or behind her.
Only that call of “Yinfeng”…
“El… Eldest Senior Sister…”
“It is me. Do not be afraid. I am here. I will not leave.”
Mu Yinfeng’s newly opened eyes closed again in despair. A thread of blood flowed from the corner of her mouth. Whether because the poison had flared again or because she was agitated, she panted violently, and her body curled slightly. Yet she still felt she could not catch her breath.
She could hear Abi’s panicked voice and feel silver needles going in and out of the acupoints on her body. But this did not ease her symptoms at all. Instead, they grew worse and worse. It was as if something had blocked her airway. Her lips turned bluish-purple from suffocation, and she was about to lose consciousness.
At that moment, she felt something soft cover her lips and pry them open. Then a cool stream of air flowed in, diluting that intense feeling of suffocation.
