The Heroine Made a Pact With Senior Sister (GL) Chapter 52

Chapter 52

Because there was no soundproof barrier on the fighting stage, that disciple’s words reached Mu Yinfeng’s ears without missing a single syllable. Mu Yinfeng only smiled faintly. Her body turned slightly, shifting left and right as she skillfully avoided the fire rain’s attacks. Her movements were light and at ease, and the effortless grace drew cheers from the disciples below.
“Junior Sister Yinfeng’s movement technique is incredible. She looks like a butterfly, even prettier than Senior Brother Chang’s Butterfly Shadow Shuttle Steps.”
“How can you call that a butterfly? She is clearly riding the wind. I never thought Junior Sister Yinfeng, despite being the youngest, would have such a remarkable movement technique. Looking at it now, even Senior Brother Chang might not be able to do anything to her.”
“Not necessarily. Senior Brother Chang cultivates both wood and fire, and he has cultivated since childhood. Junior Sister Yinfeng only started halfway through. How many years has she been in Hanyou Valley? Her foundation is still weak,” one disciple analyzed rationally.
“But in only these few years, Junior Sister Yinfeng has already cultivated to this level. If she gets a few more years, forget Senior Brother Chang. Even Senior Sister might not be her match!”
As soon as he said this, that disciple suddenly felt a chill rise from his back. The atmosphere around them turned dark and stern, far heavier than before. He instinctively looked toward the source of the cold and saw a young woman in snow-white robes slowly approaching. The crowd automatically opened a path for her. None of the disciples making way dared raise their heads, as if afraid their gaze would profane this snow-clothed beauty’s clean purity.
Huixue slowly walked to the foot of the fighting stage and looked at the red and black figures on it. Her expression was still sealed in ice, unchanged for ten thousand years, so no one could tell what she was thinking.
She stood very close to the fighting stage, as if she might jump onto it at any moment. Only after the disciples far away confirmed she would not notice them did they quietly begin whispering.
“What is Senior Sister doing here? Has she not always disliked Junior Sister Yinfeng?”
“Who knows? Did she come to watch Junior Sister Yinfeng make a fool of herself?”
“What are you saying? When has Senior Sister ever had that much free time? I think you are the one who likes kicking people when they are down!”
“You are saying that about me? Then tell me, why did Senior Sister come here?”
“I guess it must be–”
Before he could finish, that disciple felt a cold trace brush past the tip of his nose. Something flashing with silver light seemed to fly before his eyes. He instinctively looked in the direction it had gone and saw a leaf falling there. A silver needle was stuck through the leaf, still flashing with a cold gleam under the sunlight.
Mu Yinfeng also saw Huixue arrive. Now, whenever she saw Huixue, she could not help thinking of Huixue pinching her face and slowly bringing her lips close. She could not help regretting why she had pushed Huixue away halfway through, and why she had been so sharp that she noticed the Affection Thread Seed’s existence.
She could not be sure whether Huixue had kept the memories from when the Affection Thread Seed acted. If Huixue remembered what had happened, would she not want to kill her?
Huixue’s arrival had just taken a part of her focus. When she turned her gaze back to the fire rain on the stage, she saw one drop of fire rain falling straight down toward her. Every direction she could dodge in had been sealed off by the sky full of fire rain. There was no way to avoid it.
“If even a little fire rain touches you, it will corrode everything you are. You can still admit defeat now.” Si Yan landed on the ground and turned, satisfied as she watched Mu Yinfeng trapped in her fire rain. The joy of victory slowly rose in her eyes. “I told you, Junior Sister Yinfeng, there is no need to hold back against me.”
But before she finished speaking, rainbow light suddenly burst from the fire rain. With white jade at its center, it bloomed into light like a rainbow, gorgeous and strange, dazzling to the eye. It was only a mass of light, yet it was enough to wipe away the fire rain’s brilliance.
At the same time, Si Yan felt a chill at her neck. A dagger was pressed against her throat.
“You lost, Senior Sister Si Yan.”
Si Yan could not believe her eyes. “How is that possible? You were in the fire rain. There was no way for you to come out!”
“It is me, yet not me. Nowhere is me.” Mu Yinfeng smiled faintly. “You lost, Senior Sister Si Yan.”
“No, that is impossible!” Si Yan said through gritted teeth. She raised her sword and was about to stab backward at Mu Yinfeng, but the dagger pressed to her neck reminded her not to move recklessly.
The people below the stage all sucked in a breath. Like Si Yan, no one had seen how Mu Yinfeng escaped from the fire rain and circled behind Si Yan, putting Si Yan in deadly danger without anyone noticing.
“But this is the truth. You lost, Senior Sister Si Yan,” Mu Yinfeng repeated, then turned and walked down from the stage. “I still have important matters, so I will not keep you company.”
Still, she used mental voice transmission to tell Si Yan her weakness. Only then did Si Yan fully accept her loss. She did not keep pestering Mu Yinfeng and jumped off the fighting stage first, disappearing into the crowd.
The crowd began discussing Si Yan’s actions.
“What is going on? Did she go to invite Elder Si here?”
“Junior Sister Si Yan is not that kind of person. Maybe she wants to go back and cultivate more for the first round.”
“But speaking of that, did any of you see how Junior Sister Yinfeng won?”
“Who could see it? It happened in the blink of an eye. Even Senior Sister probably could not tell, right?” As that person spoke, he glanced at the snow-clothed figure standing closest to the fighting stage.
Huixue’s brows were slightly furrowed, and no one knew what she was thinking. This only confirmed the disciples’ guesses even more. If Huixue had not still been there, they would have all swarmed up to ask Mu Yinfeng what had happened.
It was over. Mu Yinfeng took a deep breath and continued walking slowly toward the edge of the fighting stage.
But just as one foot stepped off the stage, a loud shout suddenly came from behind her. “Mu Yinfeng, do you dare fight me?”
Mu Yinfeng looked back and saw a person in a water-blue robe. His features were plain, the kind of face that would vanish in a crowd in the next second. A standard background-character face.
“Who are you now?” When Mu Yinfeng did not care, her voice was lazy, as if she did not take her opponent seriously at all. This stirred up the newcomer’s anger.
“Luo Han,” the young man said loudly. “Today, you bullied Junior Sister Si Yan. Watch how I teach you a lesson.”
Fury for a beauty? Understandable. Very understandable.
The smile in Mu Yinfeng’s eyes faded slightly. She had heard this name before. Although he had a background-character face, this person’s status was not that of a background character.
On the contrary, this person lived all the way to the end. He was one of the rare people in Hanyou Valley who survived to the ending despite having little cultivation. He was truly hard to kill.
“You want to challenge me too? But let me say the ugly words first. Even if you beat me here, that will not decide whether you can enter the second round.” Mu Yinfeng was helpless. “So I refuse the fight.”
“Refuse my ass–”
At that moment, an ominous feeling suddenly swept through Mu Yinfeng’s heart. She dodged sideways by instinct and felt a chill brush past her ear. She grabbed the thing by reflex and saw an ice needle lying in her palm. Its sharp tip had pierced her fingertip, and drops of blood fell onto the fighting stage.
Boos broke out below the stage. Everyone showed contempt for Luo Han.
“Senior Brother Luo Han, how can you launch a sneak attack?”
“Senior Brother Luo Han, do you have any martial virtue at all? You could be sent to Frostfall Cliff to face the wall for this!”
“Hurry and tell the Discipline Elder. Junior Sister Yinfeng dodged fast this time. If it had been someone else, that needle would have pierced their heart!”
The people below the stage had seen it clearly. If Mu Yinfeng had not dodged, that ice needle would not have merely brushed past her ear. The ice needle had been fast and vicious, and the direction it came from was exactly her spiritual core.
If her spiritual core were pierced, even if she did not die, she would be disabled for life.
Mu Yinfeng bit the wound on her finger. With blood staining her lips, her beauty became even more alluring, and the gloom rolling in her eyes made everyone present shiver.
“It seems Senior Brother Luo Han wants to kill me,” Mu Yinfeng said unhurriedly, raising her eyes toward Luo Han. The ice needle was crushed into ice powder in her hand, mixed with bright red blood, and fell in a soft rustle.
Before she finished speaking, a bleak yin wind suddenly rose. Heavy clouds gathered, and it seemed as if heaven and earth had changed weather in an instant.
On the stage, a wild wind carried snowflakes like blades as it fell. Below the stage, the sky was still clear and bright, without the slightest change.
Luo Han’s screams were swallowed by the blades formed from ice and snow. Even flesh and bone were torn into powder. Everyone present seemed frozen in place, able only to watch this terrible scene.
“In Hanyou Valley, those who launch sneak attacks are punished with death.”
A cold, clear voice echoed through the wind and snow. Mu Yinfeng felt a warm embrace gather her in, shutting all the killing cold away outside.
