The Demon Venerable Is Delicate and Charming (GL) Chapter 59

Chapter 59

Yin Wu turned her gaze to the Jade-Bone Fan, looking squarely at this weapon for the first time. The fan ribs were clear through and faintly milky white. They did not look carved from jade. Instead, they seemed made from something else. The spiritual power carried by the fan itself was very strong. At this moment, quite a bit of demonic energy was flowing inside it. As it absorbed the monster’s body, streaks of blood-red mixed in, giving it a strange beauty.
Each time Li Lingjiang used it, she was very practiced. But Yin Wu felt that, for Li Lingjiang, it was still not very smooth in the hand.
“My Lord.” Yin Wu changed the meaning in her eyes and put the red thread away properly. Li Lingjiang was also pulled to stand in front of her. “I do not think I have ever heard of this fan.”
She scratched her hair and grew embarrassed. “Or maybe my knowledge is too shallow.”
Li Lingjiang lightly shook her head. “No. The Jade-Bone Fan was refined by hand. I am the only person who has used it.”
Yin Wu lifted her brows. “Is that so?”
She had a rough idea in her heart. She thought Li Lingjiang probably would not say where it came from, so she should find a time to ask Ling Xin and the others.
Jade bone, jade bone. It did suit her.
Li Lingjiang’s attention moved away from Yin Wu. Little Black took this chance to grow larger. It lowered its body to make it easier for her to climb on.
“Yin Wu, let us go.” Li Lingjiang sat on the dragon’s back. One hand supported her on the dragon’s spine as she looked down. The light was behind her, casting a shadow.
She stretched out a hand, wanting to pull Yin Wu up. From this angle, her collar looked somewhat loose. It faintly covered her chest. Though bandages bound her there and nothing could be seen, it still drew the eye.
Seeing Yin Wu remain still for a long while, Li Lingjiang drew her hand back. Her eyes were full of helplessness. She supported herself with both hands behind her and looked down, watching the little immortal. Her feet were covered beneath her robes, but when the wind blew, the outline could be seen.
“Coming.” Yin Wu breathed out. Her eyes held a smile as she lightly flipped onto the dragon.
Li Lingjiang sent messages to both Ling Xin and Wuzhi. This kind of monster was not hard to deal with once the method was known. As for how to hide their identities, she did not care much.
Wen Si’s group was not moving fast. It only took a little time to catch up. Li Lingjiang and Yin Wu deliberately delayed before appearing. They ignored all of Liu Ying’s thanks.
Too much involvement became trouble.
Wen Si opened his mouth several times as if wanting to ask. After a series of small movements, Li Lingjiang finally looked over. “Something to say?”
“How did you two deal with that monster? Could you teach us some experience? If we have to rely on you each time, we will feel uneasy.”
His tone was sincere and no longer seemed false.
But Li Lingjiang only gave a light snort. After a few seconds of silence, she said, “We did not deal with it. It ran. Who knows whether it exists under every place we step?”
Wen Si: “…”
She had not lowered her voice. After many people heard it, the words instantly spread through the group. The hearts that had finally relaxed a little tightened again. They had already begun to see danger in every blade of grass, afraid one small mistake would send them to death.
Seeing Mu Mianmian become alert too, Liu Ying curved her lips and leaned close to whisper to her. But Mu Mianmian instinctively dodged. Liu Ying froze for a few seconds, then lowered her voice. “You can tell at once she is lying to us. If the monster was really not dealt with, how could they relax and walk with us like this?”
Mu Mianmian gave an “oh.” In her heart, she was still not very willing to answer. From the outside, she looked more like she was terrified after being frightened.
“Do not be too nervous. In any case, you still have me.” Liu Ying patted her own chest.
Mu Mianmian did not answer. She looked at Liu Ying’s pretty face, now ruined, and thought darkly, You are not even that strong, so why boast? You act every day as if I can only survive by depending on you. That fake kindness is disgusting.
How could Liu Ying know what Mu Mianmian was thinking? She kept talking, even though her throat was so dry it nearly smoked, only wanting Mu Mianmian to be happier and not so tense.
Fortunately, they met no great danger along the way, as if the monster from earlier had only been a dream.
Wen Si successfully contacted the other two groups, but their directions had drifted somewhat far apart. After several rounds of discussion and weighing their choices, they decided to have Wen Si’s group stop first and wait until everyone gathered again.
Li Lingjiang led Yin Wu at the very front. They had barely rested along the way. Even she had drunk several mouthfuls of water. The skin wrapped in bandages felt strangely sticky, making her deeply uncomfortable. She squeezed her wrist, trying to ease the soreness.
Yin Wu’s gaze lingered on her hand for quite a while. Li Lingjiang silently tucked her hand away again, keeping her most ordinary posture.
Only then did the little immortal turn her head away and stop asking. She only muttered a few words Li Lingjiang could not hear clearly. In Li Lingjiang’s ears, they fell in broken pieces, not forming a sentence.
“My Lord.” Yin Wu stopped walking and looked around. “Let us stop here.”
Wen Si had directly said they could choose the place, so Yin Wu simply agreed. She rubbed her fingers lightly and felt no strange movement around them. She lifted her head and looked at the sky. In the black sky hung a dazzling sun. No matter how one looked at it, it was strange. She half narrowed her eyes and made a motion as if crushing it.
Li Lingjiang answered. Seeing Yin Wu’s small movement, her eyes filled with indulgence. She estimated the time. It was already evening. Three days of travel without rest had long left everyone walking only by force of will. Just after the word “rest” was spoken, someone could not hold on and sat on the ground, then howled after being burned in the next moment.
“My Lord, come sit.” At some unknown time, Yin Wu had found a place not too close to the others. She took off her outer robe and sat on it first.
Li Lingjiang walked over. “Is it not hot?”
Yin Wu mysteriously raised a finger and wagged it. She gently tugged Li Lingjiang’s clothes downward. “Try it.”
Whenever the little immortal asked for something, her eyes had a charm that made a person soften for no reason. Li Lingjiang did not refuse. Without hesitation, she sat down. There was no expected burning heat, only a little warmth. She raised a brow. “How did you do it?”
Yin Wu proudly lifted her head, unable to hide her smile. “Of course, because I am amazing.”
Li Lingjiang suddenly understood what she meant and praised her in kind. “Mm. Yin Wu is very amazing. Then can you tell me how you did it?”
“Of course.” Yin Wu was satisfied. “I used my own power to block out the heat. As expected, things from the same source are easy to control.”
She bent her legs and complained, “Sitting is still more comfortable. These three days almost killed me from exhaustion. Who knows when we can get out?”
Yin Wu turned her face and buried it on her knees. “My Lord, I thought they brought this group of ordinary people here as shields. But now, it does not seem to be exactly that. Many sect disciples have died too.”
Li Lingjiang lowered her eyes to find her gaze. Her lashes trembled. “I have thought of that too. I lean more toward there being only one person among them who will survive and take the magic artifact. I have always felt someone among this group watching me. That gaze has grown more and more open, which is unpleasant.”
“What?” Yin Wu frowned. Her mind spun quickly, then her brows loosened. She only said, “I have someone I suspect, but I do not feel the motive is strong.”
Li Lingjiang finally showed some interest. “Who do you think it is?”
Yin Wu leaned to her ear and said a name, but Li Lingjiang shook her head. “I do not think it is him.”
“It really does not seem like him?”
“My feeling leans toward him.” Her gaze landed on someone, then shifted away before their eyes could meet.
Yin Wu gave an “ah.” Propping her cheek in her hand, she hooked a finger around Little White and teased it. Softly, she said, “Is that so… There is no hurry, My Lord. Let us watch longer.”
No matter what that thing was, she would not show mercy.
The two had no idle talk after that. Yin Wu forced Li Lingjiang to sleep. After being refused twice, she directly cried from anger. She turned her face aside, her breathing hitching, and said Li Lingjiang was clearly lying to her, that Li Lingjiang did not care for her own body at all, and that Yin Wu had no idea what to do. Somehow, Li Lingjiang actually felt guilty.
She tugged at Yin Wu’s shoulder and coaxed softly, “All right, all right. Do not cry.”
Yin Wu became stubborn. “I will.”
Li Lingjiang immediately withdrew her hand. Her expression settled, and her tone cooled. “Mm. Then cry.”
“My Lord!” Yin Wu looked at Li Lingjiang in complete disbelief at the sudden change in attitude. Meeting the smile in Li Lingjiang’s eyes, she pouted. “You really are…”
Before she could finish, Li Lingjiang leaned her head against Yin Wu’s shoulder. Yin Wu’s body instantly went stiff, then relaxed. A feeling rose in her eyes, as if this was how it should be. She thought the next step should be to move a little closer, but the person on her shoulder had already closed her eyes and fallen into a shallow sleep. It was not hard to feel her exhaustion.
Yin Wu played with the red thread in her fingers and looked steadily toward a noisy spot. It seemed Liu Ying’s group had started some conflict. With interest, Yin Wu pulled the sound much closer and listened calmly to the gossip.
“Liu Ying, what did you do to Mianmian? You made her cry.”
Liu Ying’s face did not look good either. She said irritably, “I only said a few words to her. Was it not for her good?”
After hearing this, Mu Mianmian cried even harder. She directly turned her back and refused to respond.
“You too. Why are your words so sharp? Hurry and apologize.” Someone bumped Liu Ying’s shoulder.
Only then did Liu Ying awkwardly apologize to Mu Mianmian and speak gently. But this time, Mu Mianmian did not accept it at all. She ran off in large steps, leaving Liu Ying standing there in a daze.
Mu Mianmian could not run far. Wen Si was the one who called her to stop. He did not interfere in these small matters and had only been watching.
“Senior Brother Wen,” Mu Mianmian called softly.
Wen Si looked much gentler. “Do not be sad. If you feel you are not suited for them, separate from them early.”
Mu Mianmian suddenly raised her head. “What!”
“Have you not always been pushed aside by them? Or did I feel wrong from the beginning? Liu Ying draws attention. I always feel you do not fit in when you are with them.”
Mu Mianmian nodded blankly. “It is true.”
“Your strength does not seem outstanding. Why not focus on cultivating properly?” Wen Si asked again. His voice seemed to be carried over by the wind.
Mu Mianmian’s eyes reddened again. “That is because she always brings me along. She will not let me do this or that. Every day, I am like her attachment. I can only follow behind her as a background piece, while others still think she treats me especially well. I pass each day in a daze. I do not know what I should do at all. I want to become strong too, but she presses down on me too much.”
She was full of grievance. “If not for her, I would not be like this. To others, I am just a weak little flower. If not for her, I should be standing in a high place too!”
Wen Si nodded, seeming moved by her emotion. “Then that proves I was not wrong. I also feel your light has been covered by hers. Usually, does she often do the same thing you do, then use the excuse of caring for you to do it better than you?”
Mu Mianmian grew excited. “Exactly! I truly have no way. I do not know what she wants. I… I hate her.”
“Sigh. Since it feels painful, leave early. Do not wrong yourself.” Wen Si smiled, and for a moment, that smile entered Mu Mianmian’s eyes.
“Can I really? I do not know where her need to win comes from. Why must she cling to me?” Mu Mianmian lowered her head and twisted her fingers together. Her eyes were full of resentment and unwillingness.
Wen Si gave her certainty. “Of course. You have to believe in yourself. Do not be sad. All right, stop crying.”
“I…” Mu Mianmian wanted to say more, but Liu Ying came over in a rush and grabbed her wrist, dragging her back. “All right, I apologize. I am sorry. I truly did not mean it. There will not be a next time.”
Mu Mianmian did not move. She bit her lip hard and stared at Liu Ying’s back. Wen Si’s voice came from behind her, and she instinctively turned her head.
“We are almost out of water. If only we could find a water source. What should we do?”
At the same time, Li Lingjiang lazily lifted her eyelids. Her sharp gaze swept over, carrying a flash of vivid red.
