Stealing an Immortal Back to the Demon Realm Chapter 24

Chapter 24

Hearing this, the spiritual beast looked intently at Shang Ningye.

Shang Ningye silently repeated the formula in her mind, feeling that it seemed feasible. Only two ingredients, called Red Stone Clay and Calcined Dragon Bone, were unclear to her.

So she spoke, asking, “I have the other medicinal ingredients here, but I’ve never heard of the Red Stone Clay and Calcined Dragon Bone you mentioned. Where might I find them?”

These two ingredients are top-grade hemostatic medicines from the demon realm, used for astringing and regenerating muscle, Mu Qiuhan thought. Demons usually grind them into powder and apply them to wounds.

The intense ground fires in the demon realm make it difficult for spiritual grass-type medicines to grow, so demons are more adept at using mineral and animal-based ingredients.

This is precisely why Wu Ling, unable to figure out the mystery of the Golden-Edged Chonglou, allowed Shang Ningye to stumble upon it.

But how could I explain these things in detail to Shang Ningye?

Mu Qiuhan thought for a moment and decided to gloss over it.

“These two ingredients are for external application on wounds. I have them both, so you don’t need to worry. As for the spiritual herbs earlier, with my current cultivation level, successfully refining them into pills might be a bit difficult.”

She paused, then meaningfully glanced at Shang Ningye.

“If you have an elder you trust, you could give that Golden-Edged Chonglou herb to them…”

At this point, the person and the beast exchanged a quick glance but said nothing.

Mu Qiuhan understood, and her tone quickly shifted towards her intended direction.

“If the two of you trust me more, I have another way…”

“You just need to help me guard for a few days. Also, I’ll need you to gift me some… hair.”

Mu Qiuhan finished speaking and pointed at Chuxue, then cautiously added, “Perhaps a little isn’t enough, I might need a bit more.”

Hearing this, Chuxue stared at Mu Qiuhan with its glass-like round eyes.

It clearly didn’t understand why Mu Qiuhan still needed its hair at this moment.

She just finished dissolving the fire poison in her body.

Shang Ningye, however, understood.

She looked at Mu Qiuhan with a hint of disbelief.

“Are you planning to go cultivate in the Dream Floating Life artifact again?”

The image of this person enduring intense pain just moments ago was still vivid. Yet, not even a stick of incense’s worth of time had passed.

After receiving Mu Qiuhan’s affirmative reply, Shang Ningye fell silent.

After a long while, she said softly, “This poison in my body has been here for over ten years, it’s not urgent for this moment.”

Seeing that Mu Qiuhan didn’t respond, Shang Ningye knew she couldn’t persuade her, so she sighed softly.

“At least go to the inner room and change clothes. What you’re wearing was drenched in sweat earlier, it must be uncomfortable. Chuxue can also use this time to prepare what you need.”

Mu Qiuhan was startled hearing this.

A moment later, she seemed to recover, replying awkwardly, “No need.”

As soon as she finished speaking, she felt her tone was too stiff, so she added an explanation, “I don’t have any extra clothing in my storage ring at the moment…”

“It’s fine.”

Shang Ningye seemed to notice the faint hint of awkwardness in her expression and said, “We’re similar in size. I have a few new clothes in my room I haven’t worn. If you don’t mind, I can give them to you.”

Mu Qiuhan looked at Shang Ningye with a touch of surprise. Seeing nothing discernible on her face, she could only accept first.

“Then, thank you.”

She followed Shang Ningye into the inner room.

Perhaps because Shang Ningye was originally a plant transformation, her bedroom was very different from that of ordinary cultivators.

Rather than calling it a bedroom, it was more like a small botanical garden.

Beneath their feet was a soft patch of green grass, and a bed woven from vines was placed in a corner by the window.

Looking closely, the vines were actually alive.

Around the foot of the bed, a section had even bloomed with clusters of pale purple flowers.

Slender vines continued to climb the windowsill, reaching out beyond the window.

Beside the vine bed lay a section of withered peach wood root.

The root was about two people high and ten feet wide, with wood grain almost caramel colored. Only in one spot near the ground, a tiny green sprout seemed to have pushed its way out.

Shang Ningye first knelt down, examining the little sprout carefully for a few moments, then stood up and gently stroked the tree trunk.

The hollow part of the peach wood was revealed.

Shang Ningye took out a few robes from within and handed them to Mu Qiuhan.

“These few I haven’t worn.”

Seeing Mu Qiuhan continuously examining the strangely shaped “wardrobe,” Shang Ningye explained, “When it transformed, it failed to pass the lightning tribulation and was struck into its current state.”

“I’ve planted it here for decades. Thankfully, perhaps it will live again next spring.”

As a plain, wood-scented robe settled against her skin, Mu Qiuhan felt a moment of distraction.

Her thoughts felt messy, and an indescribable feeling rose from the depths of her heart, then gradually began to spread.

Shang Ningye had already gone out first.

Mu Qiuhan cautiously checked her dantian.

Finding nothing abnormal, she circulated her spiritual energy to examine all her meridians.

There was no sign of poison either.

After this thorough check, that strange, unexplainable feeling seemed to disappear.

Only then did Mu Qiuhan feel completely at ease.

When she emerged from the inner room having changed clothes, Shang Ningye was comforting a completely shaven small beast.

The Ice Crystal Beast was throwing a tantrum at the moment.

It turned out that while Shang Ningye and Mu Qiuhan were in the inner room, it had used scissors to take hair from its right leg. After looking left and right and feeling it wasn’t quite right, it had shaved all the hair off its four legs.

Then, standing before the mirror, it felt it looked even worse, so it simply shaved off the hair on its body as well.

Its current appearance was the result of its repeated “modifications” in the mirror, each time making it worse.

Seeing Mu Qiuhan come out, it said through gritted teeth, “This should be enough for you for a long time! There’s no more!”

Mu Qiuhan forcefully suppressed the urge to laugh.

She picked up the large bag full of spiritual beast hair from the ground and said seriously, “Enough, thank you.”

Then she said to Shang Ningye, “I’ll trouble you two for these few days.”

After saying this, she took out the Dream Floating Life artifact from her storage ring and cut her palm.

Her entire person vanished from the spot in a flash of red light.

Outside the window, the bright moon hung high, spilling fragmented silver light all over the courtyard.

In the quiet wooden house, Shang Ningye reached out and gently pushed the window open.

She looked up slightly, gazing at the moon in the sky, and suddenly sighed softly, “If Master had had such a diligent and talented disciple back then, perhaps Taiqing Immortal Sect wouldn’t be like this now.”

Responding to her was Chuxue’s low snort.

Mu Qiuhan stayed in the Dream Floating Life artifact for a very long time this trip.

The day and night cycle was very unclear within the artifact, and the beast hair provided by Chuxue was plentiful.

She cultivated day and night, feeling nothing but the rapid rise of spiritual energy in her dantian. Mu Qiuhan almost completely forgot everything around her, even forgetting the “few days” she had agreed upon with Shang Ningye.

She endured another lightning tribulation within the artifact.

The Soul Transformation lightning tribulation was much more powerful than the previous Nascent Soul one, but Mu Qiuhan had experienced many hardships in her previous life. She only lay down for a day after the tribulation, briefly healed the injuries all over her body, and then resumed her ascetic life.

Many years passed in this way. Just as she was about to prepare for the impending Void Refinement lightning tribulation, the small space around her suddenly vibrated violently.

Mu Qiuhan felt a moment of surprise.

Although the spiritual energy within her body was hovering at the critical point, it still seemed slightly short. By all accounts, this lightning tribulation shouldn’t be arriving early.

However, after the vibration, the expected heavenly lightning didn’t arrive. Instead, a figure appeared before her eyes.

It was Shang Ningye.

Mu Qiuhan hadn’t seen a living person for many years, nor had she spoken to anyone for many years. She was about to speak but seemed to have forgotten how.

Fortunately, Shang Ningye seemed somewhat urgent and didn’t pay attention to this.

She grabbed Mu Qiuhan’s arm tightly and pulled her close.

“Go! The demon race has broken through the Longxuan Mountain barrier! The main hall elders have decided to temporarily leave, trying to avoid frontal conflict with the demon race as much as possible.”

It took Mu Qiuhan a moment to fully process this sentence.

Right, she had made arrangements to attack Longxuan Mountain a long time ago.

But she had spent too much time in this artifact, so long that she had even started to forget.

Who was the commander leading the demon army this time? Sang Zi or Qiu Feng?

Oh, no, Sang Zi and Qiu Feng had fallen in the immortal-demon war many years ago. This time it was Leng Yi.

Leng Yi, the new ruler…

Mu Qiuhan closed her eyes, asking hoarsely, “How long has it been since I entered this artifact?”

Shang Ningye was busy healing her own and Mu Qiuhan’s palm wounds at the moment and couldn’t answer her immediately.

The Dream Floating Life artifact uses a cultivator’s vital blood as a guide; only by completely severing this driving force could the two of them leave the artifact.

When they safely exited the artifact, Shang Ningye finally relaxed a little.

Earlier, the reason Mu Qiuhan had instructed Shang Ningye to guard her was that if the Dream Floating Life artifact was damaged by external force, the person cultivating inside would either die or be severely injured, potentially even being trapped inside the artifact forever, unable to come out again.

This is also a reason, besides consuming lifespan, why many cultivators are unwilling to use the Dream Floating Life artifact.

Because once one enters that artifact, one’s safety is no longer controlled by oneself but depends entirely on the will of the person guarding outside.

Mu Qiuhan chose this risky method to accelerate her cultivation partly due to pressing circumstances and the necessity of the situation, and partly out of trust in Shang Ningye.

The person who was trusted had finally completed the task and could now find a moment to answer Mu Qiuhan’s earlier question.

“Half a month. It’s been half a month since you last went in to cultivate.”

Man these two are so adorably caring about each other despite being on nearly the exact opposite side from each other, it is very cute though that Mu Quihan is trying to optimise the sect takeover without hurting too many people
