Spectating the Angsty Romance of the Master and Disciple from the Sect Next Door Chapter 63

Henceforth, My Dao Companion.

Still, no one greeted her.
Because Ling Qiu’s lively eyes darted around. She said that such an important matter as changing their address couldn’t be done so casually. Senior Sister was still lying in bed; they couldn’t possibly have Senior Sister sit while calling her Master’s wife, and have Immortal Venerable stand to receive the greeting.
That would truly be undignified.
Although Qi Lingzi didn’t understand what her junior sister meant, she chose to unconditionally spoil and support her junior sister’s decision.
Tan Yanyi didn’t quite grasp the reason. She was still waiting for Immortal Venerable to give her a greeting gift after they changed their address. Immortal Venerable was always wealthier and more generous than their Master. This way, she would have spirit stones to squander and pursue pretty junior disciples.
Pursuing pretty junior disciples from the Dao Sect was safer; at least there wouldn’t be any malicious incidents of sword cultivators coming to chop people. When they chop people, they didn’t care if she was a Sword Sovereign’s disciple or not.
However, Ling Qiu gave her a look that told her to be patient. For the sake of fellow disciple camaraderie, Tan Yanyi reluctantly agreed.
Li Jin’an thought for a moment. Ling Qiu was right; there was no rush, and it would be better to do it formally, which would also make up for Tan Yanyi’s thoughtless remark about her defection.
Thinking this, Li Jin’an, far away on Qingxiao Peak in the Dao Sect, established a new rule for Jijin Peak in the Sword Sect: In front of Master’s wife, they were not allowed to ruin Master’s image.
Family doesn’t stand on ceremony.
Let all that came before fade with the wind; let it not be mentioned again.
To prevent them from not taking it seriously, Li Jin’an emphasized it several times, only stopping when Qi Lingzi, who was newly recovered from severe injuries, was nagged until her eyes blurred.
After Li Jin’an left, Tan Yanyi asked Ling Qiu why she did that.
Ling Qiu let out an unreadable snort. “Jijin Peak and Qingxiao Peak will soon be one family. How can such a good thing play favorites and not let Immortal Venerable’s disciples know?”
Besides their inherited ineptitude, the best thing passed down in Jijin Peak was their ability to hold grudges.
Ling Qiu had no intention of letting Lan Ci’s humiliation of Senior Sister on the arena pass so easily.
Everyone on Jijin Peak, from old to young, was very serious about revenge. Generally, they would continue from morning till night, without stopping.
She had not a single complaint about Qingxiao Immortal Venerable. She even thought Immortal Venerable, having been bothered by their Master for a millennium, had finally compromised with the nuisance. She simply had strong opinions about Lan Ci, Zhong Fei, and Ning Zhufeng, believing that their existence was like dust on Immortal Venerable’s pure white robe, making her hands itch to flick away these three filthy things.
Tan Yanyi reacted, happily clapping her hands. “You’re still the wily one! We couldn’t imagine Master would collude with the enemy and betray us, but could they? And they seem to value Immortal Venerable highly, with daily morning and evening greetings, and their words are always so saccharine. When they find out about this…”
The three exchanged a look and smiled, cackling loudly. The air was filled with a joyful atmosphere.
One had to admit, Li Jin’an and her disciples were cut from the same wicked cloth, because she thought the same way!
The disciples simply felt that those three vile creatures were overly devoted to Qingxiao Immortal Venerable; anyone who glanced at Immortal Venerable for too long would attract endless malice from them. With their simple minds, they would never imagine that those three vile creatures would so treasonously covet their Master.
But Li Jin’an knew.
Mere physical blows weren’t enough; spiritual destruction was of utmost importance.
Of course, Li Jin’an certainly couldn’t tell Xie Huaixue her purpose so directly.
“Since this is a big matter for both Jijin Peak and Qingxiao Peak, it can’t be handled hastily. Not only must Qi Lingzi and her group change their address, but your disciples must also change their address to call me Master’s wife. Let’s find a sunny day for both peaks to officially meet formally.”
Although Li Jin’an felt she had been very subtle, Xie Huaixue glanced at her with an amused half-smile and softly agreed.
Evidently, Li Jin’an’s little schemes were entirely transparent to Xie Huaixue. Didn’t Xie Huaixue know her well enough? She saw through her intentions at a glance.
However, Li Jin’an felt not a bit guilty. Instead, she proudly raised her head with an arrogant swagger.
So what if she saw through it? Xie Huaixue still agreed, didn’t she?
After all, Xie Huaixue wouldn’t refuse her request.
“Oh, and don’t forget to prepare greeting gifts. Otherwise, those three little fools will be greatly disappointed when they look at you.”
“I remember,” Xie Huaixue replied, her gaze serious.
She seemed to treat the matter of giving gifts to Qi Lingzi and the others as a matter of great importance, acting very solemnly. Perhaps she was worried that Li Jin’an’s disciples would misunderstand that she was trying to steal their Master, or that she didn’t like them.
Even though her expression was indifferent and her tone wasn’t warm, Li Jin’an found her indescribably adorable.
Li Jin’an pressed her lips together, resisting again and again, but still couldn’t hold back. Under Xie Huaixue’s slightly bewildered gaze, she pinched her cheek, then laughed triumphantly.
“Don’t worry, they’d rather you snatch me away.”
She knew her own disciples. If Xie Huaixue were really to snatch her away, Tan Yanyi and Ling Qiu would drag Qi Lingzi along, beating drums and gongs, singing mountain songs to joyfully bid her farewell, and then claim a mountain as their own domain with immense glee. Perhaps even the name of Jijin Peak wouldn’t be kept.
“Hm… don’t pinch anymore.”
Three more days passed.
Lan Ci also woke up and could move freely, no longer needing her two annoying junior sisters to support her.
However, compared to the cheerful Jijin Peak group, the atmosphere around her, Zhong Fei, and Ning Zhufeng was much more unsettling.
After Lan Ci opened her eyes, she gazed blankly at the ceiling, ignoring her ‘good’ junior sisters.
Zhong Fei and Ning Zhufeng hadn’t kindly come to visit her; they felt that Lan Ci had taken their favors but failed to do things right, even breaking Qingxiao Peak’s iron rule of never losing to Jijin Peak, disgracing their Master. Thus, their tone was very aggressive.
“Before the Grand Competition, you swore solemnly, acting as if you could trample us all underfoot, shamelessly boasting to the point of looking down on everyone. Unfortunately, you boasted too much and were cut down by a single sword strike.”
Zhong Fei was no longer bright and cheerful as she was when in front of others. Her expression was veiled, and the thick malice in her eyes seemed to overflow and drown all three of them present, herself included.
“Now, everything’s for naught; you’ve lost everything, both big and small. In the few days you’ve been unconscious, Master hasn’t even come to see you once.”
“It’s bad enough you disgraced yourself; don’t implicate me!”
Ning Zhufeng didn’t scream hysterically like Zhong Fei. Instead, she carefully scrutinized Lan Ci, whose face was so pale it had lost its former warmth, and then looked at the wildly ranting Zhong Fei, smiling with amusement.
Everyone said the demonic race was the most vile and filthy, but these two disciples of Immortal Venerable were no less so.
“The arena is unpredictable and unforeseen. Whatever happened there was not something our Golden Core Completion Senior Sister could control.” Ning Zhufeng still spoke sarcastically, her youthful brow held nothing but cold indifference. Then she changed the subject. “Since the matter has already occurred, it’s too late for regrets is useless. The most important thing is how to mitigate the repercussions of this incident. Even if Master doesn’t care, there’s no guarantee that the Sect Leader and other elders won’t. If this continues, Master will also grow dissatisfied with you and me.”
“So we must regain Master’s favor.”
Ning Zhufeng’s tone was alluring. Although her words were directed at Lan Ci, her eyes were on Zhong Fei.
This was the first time Zhong Fei saw this gentle-as-jade Senior Sister so utterly pathetic, and her heart was full of delight. She stepped forward and said maliciously, “Whoever disgraced themselves should make amends. I haven’t done anything wrong; you can’t make me apologize to those people from Jijin Peak, can you? I cannot afford to lose face.”
“You know how petty Jijin Sword Sovereign is, don’t you? Because of you, Ning Zhufeng and I were struck to the ground by Jijin Sword Sovereign in front of Master, utterly disheveled and lost all face!”
“She can’t implicate us yet spare you, the main culprit, can she? Do you think she won’t retaliate against you!”
Ning Zhufeng found this scene too amusing. Both senior sisters were more foolish than the other, not worth worrying about. More importantly, they needed to deal with Jijin Sword Sovereign, who had too strong a presence on Qingxiao Peak.
Lan Ci suddenly closed her eyes, then opened them again, saying emphatically, “I will not lose to Qi Lingzi again! I will take full responsibility for this matter!”
Ning Zhufeng was amused. Senior Sister’s dao heart was clearly unstable, and her words were filled with resentment. It was obvious she cared deeply. With such a mindset, if she encountered anyone from Jijin Peak again, she would likely repeat the situation of that day.
Zhong Fei didn’t believe it either, but Lan Ci’s gaze towards her was very cold and indifferent, as if she would kill her on the spot if she said another word.
In the unspoken silence, Xie Huaixue’s sound transmission simultaneously rang in the ears of the three.
“Come to my immortal cave immediately.”
Those four short words made all three of them change their expressions. Zhong Fei, unable to hold back, suddenly stood up. “Master is willing to see us now?”
Lan Ci and Ning Zhufeng also had expressions of obvious joy, though Lan Ci’s expression was more complex, carrying a hint of hesitation.
If she had won against Qi Lingzi, she would have been able to defend herself regarding the humiliation on the arena. But she hadn’t won, and didn’t know how to face Master.
Meanwhile, Ning Zhufeng’s entire body turned cold, and a bad premonition arose in her heart. She inexplicably recalled that day when Jijin Sword Sovereign had feigned concern, asking Master if she would mind her being so meddlesome…
Zhong Fei, however, gave them no time to hesitate. She tidied her clothes and headed for the mountain peak. Lan Ci and Ning Zhufeng exchanged a glance and silently followed.
Once they arrived, they discovered that only the three of them hadn’t arrived yet.
Qi Lingzi, Tan Yanyi, and Ling Qiu were seated on the left, with tea, pastries, and fruit platters on the table. They were eating and drinking freely, their faces, originally full of smiles, suddenly darkened when they saw the newcomers.
Master and Jijin Sword Sovereign sat in the main seats, one in white robes, one in red, their powerful presences equally matched, yet the atmosphere was incredibly harmonious.
Without time to ponder, the three respectfully bowed, “Disciples greet Master, and greet Jijin Sword Sovereign.”
The air fell silent.
After a long while, it was Jijin Sword Sovereign who told them to rise, saying with extreme feigned sincerity, “Today is a great day, no need to be so reserved. Rise quickly.”
Li Jin’an was about to open her mouth to speak when she suddenly remembered something, hissed, and looked at Xie Huaixue, saying with feigned understanding, “You are their Master. They’ll probably find your words easier to accept.”
As if.
More likely their delusions would be shattered, and they would make fools of themselves in front of Xie Huaixue.
Lan Ci and the other two felt increasingly agitated and uneasy.
Under their gazes, Xie Huaixue took Li Jin’an’s hand, intertwining their fingers, and said plainly, “Jijin Sword Sovereign shall henceforth be my dao companion.”
