Normal space should consist of many parallel lines, never overlapping, never intersecting. However, spatial-space-time turbulence entangled these lines, forming dense, chaotic spatial-temporal whirlpools. Those who stumbled in, even if not instantly pulverized, would become lost in the disordered space-time until their complete demise. Only a very few fortunate individuals could survive until the spatial-temporal disorder subsided.
When space-time became disordered to a certain extent, they felt as if their entire beings were submerged in mercury exerting tens of thousands of times normal gravity, unable to breathe, every action infinitely slowed, and exceptionally obstructed.
Xie Huaixue struggled to turn her head and saw Li Jin’an’s anxious brows and eyes, mouthing silently, “Don’t be afraid.”
How could Li Jin’an not be afraid? She was so scared she was almost in tears. She didn’t fear death; she only worried that death would separate them.
She could do nothing. She could only gaze anxiously at Xie Huaixue and struggle to call her name, “Xie Huaixue, Xie…”
Xie Huaixue looked back, her eyes anxious, and struggled to instruct, “Before March of next year, you must leave…”
The extremely dense spatial-temporal whirlpool instantly exploded, infinitely expanding, rapidly devouring the normal space-time of Immortal Soothing Pool, engulfing the figures of Li Jin’an and Xie Huaixue, and swallowing their unfinished words.
…
“Li Jin’an!”
“Li Jin’an!”
“Li Jin’an!”
Each shout louder than the last, the voice coarse and grating, utterly cacophonous and unbearable to listen to.
Who’s calling Li Jin’an anyway? Are they trying to summon her soul?! So noisy!
Suddenly, a flurry of hurried footsteps approached. Someone heavily knocked on the table beside her ear, and an angry roar resounded again, “Li Jin’an! If you’re not going to listen in class, go practice your sword outside! Don’t delay others here!”
Practicing sword, good, practicing sword. She loved practicing sword.
The noisy, unpleasant voice suddenly calmed down, taking a deep, harsh breath. “Li Jin’an, just like your useless master, be an illiterate for the rest of your life! An incorrigible sword cultivator!”
Who’s master? Never mind, don’t want to think about it, not important. What’s wrong with being illiterate? She was proud of her lack of learning. Her Dao Companion was scholarly and knowledgeable, filled with wisdom, shrewd almost to the point of being a demon. Her Dao Companion had so many tricks up her sleeve that she could drown the Dao Sect, wasn’t that enough? They, sword cultivators, should just weakly lean on their Dao Companion’s shoulders and watch their Dao Companion dominate all sides. Dao Companion, sword cultivator, Dao Companion… Xie Huaixue! She was Li Jin’an!
Amidst a splitting headache, Li Jin’an suddenly opened her eyes from a state of chaos. The first thing that came into view was a protruding belly.
Li Jin’an frowned and leaned back, slowly raising her eyes to look up. Hmm, an enraged old face. It looked a little familiar. Never mind, not familiar, don’t recognize.
Li Jin’an yawned widely. Her head, resting on her arm, turned over as she tried to continue sleeping, but she saw a youthful face, unable to hide its excitement. A hand under the table was giving her a thumbs-up, seemingly praising her commendable courage.
Her gaze froze as memories flooded her mind, surging forward chaotically and without order.
In her memories, this young face shouldn’t have been so youthful, nor should it have smiled so brightly. It also held a smile, but it was a smile bitterer than coptis, and with one glance, you’d know there was no one more unfortunate than her in the entire place. Wait. There should have been someone else huddling for warmth and trembling with her. Seeing her alone looked a bit lonely, quite pitiful.
“Sword Lord Junxing!”
“Are you looking for my master? She went out to avoid debts.” Her deskmate looked at her bewildered, her face full of confusion. She glanced up at the tutor behind Li Jin’an and kindly reminded her, “Tutor Dong is about to explode with anger. You’d better not look for my master yet; go find Chixin Sword Lord instead.”
Right. All successive sword cultivators of Junxing Peak were eccentric. Starting from the founding peak master, they were all called Sword Lord Junxing. The lazy ones who came after were too lazy to pick their own Daoist titles; they not only inherited the Dao tradition of Junxing Peak but also inherited the title of Sword Lord Junxing. It was passed down from generation to generation like this, very convenient. This young face, untouched by the hardships of life, should be the next Sword Lord Junxing. Chixin Sword Lord, such a familiar name. The moment that name was mentioned, she felt like she was about to get scolded. Tutor Dong? What kind of person dared to become her tutor? Did they eat the guts of a bear and a leopard? She only recognized Tutor Xie! Tutor Xie, Xie Huaixue!
Li Jin’an fully sobered up and abruptly sat upright. She looked around in astonishment, realizing this was precisely the Sword Sect Academy. Finally, she met the gaze of Tutor Dong, who was so angry she was speechless, a tutor with as many wrinkles a thousand years ago as now.
“Call your master to come and drag you away!!”
After the time it takes for an incense stick to burn, in a secluded corner outside the academy, Li Jin’an and Chixin Sword Lord, whose appearance hadn’t changed but whose spirit was vibrant and full, looked at each other in silence.
Li Jin’an shook her still fuzzy head. From her perspective, she had just seen Chixin Sword Lord, and after a nap, her master had changed completely. The younger version of Master looked like she could be triggered with just a few words. She felt a little restless, wanting to try something.
“If you don’t want to listen, then don’t, but don’t you dare sleep right under Old Dong’s nose! He has a grudge against your master! Isn’t this just giving him leverage!?” Chixin Sword Lord said, exasperated.
Li Jin’an pouted and casually said, “It’s fine, Yinyue Monarch doesn’t like him. He doesn’t even count as your love rival. You can rest easy.”
Not only was the gender wrong, but Tutor Dong’s appearance was also unseemly. He had a belly full of knowledge, which was an eyesore.
Chixin Sword Lord proudly crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow, the corners of her mouth unable to suppress a smile. “Of course! Let me tell you… Wait, how did you know that? So you spend every day in the academy studying this?!”
Who told that mischievous child?!
Given Li Jin’an’s inability to keep secrets, it was equivalent to the entire cultivation world knowing about this matter!
Chixin Sword Lord’s vision went black.
Li Jin’an shrugged. She felt that her master from a thousand years ago didn’t have that listless energy of the future, and could spill her secrets with just a few words; she was truly naive.
“Didn’t Jingting Dao Lord try to snatch Yinyue Monarch from you…?” Ever since waking up, Li Jin’an’s rusty brain had completely cleared up. She slapped her forehead hard. “My brain! Why am I wasting words on you?! Xie Huaixue! Yinyue Monarch! I’m coming!”
After saying that, she turned and ran, leaving the bewildered Chixin Sword Lord dumbfounded on the spot.
No. And no one said sending a child to the academy could make them go crazy!
If she remembered correctly, didn’t that foolish child Li Jin’an, just the day before yesterday, furiously declare she’d cut ties with Xie Huaixue forever because her confession failed…? And now she’s given up on dignity?
Chixin Sword Lord couldn’t tell if she was going to watch the show or to see Yinyue Monarch, but she quickly followed.
The current Li Jin’an was not the future Jijin Sword Sovereign, so she was easily caught up to by Chixin Sword Lord, who asked if she wanted a ride, to take a ‘favorable wind sword’ to the Dao Sect.
Li Jin’an meticulously controlled her spiritual power, raised her chin high, and without a word, zipped away from in front of Chixin Sword Lord.
Chixin Sword Lord let out an astonished “Hoo!” “Losing face from heartbreak can indeed make a sword cultivator grow! We’ll have to let Huaixue reject her a few more times, to save us the trouble of her showing off everywhere every day.”
Li Jin’an, who had left first, had no idea what depraved thoughts her master had produced. She only knew that her heart was pounding so fast it felt like it would leap out of her chest.
Restlessness and unease, wild joy and worry, immense entanglement and bewilderment. She worried she wouldn’t see Xie Huaixue and Yinyue Monarch after going to the Dao Sect, fearing she would be alone in this space-time, with no one to talk to or consult with. A mix of emotions, she was frightened and restless, her heart in her throat.
The sword cultivator in crimson brocade robes expertly tossed down a visiting card, which landed in the hands of a Dao Sect guard disciple, and then she impatiently flew towards Yinyue Peak.
The guard disciples, used to such occurrences, collected the visiting cards, planning to hand them over to Senior Sister Xie together. They wondered what use Senior Sister Xie had for Li Jin’an’s vigorous and flamboyant visiting cards. Was she practicing calligraphy with them?
Another disciple speculated, “Senior Sister Xie must be collecting evidence of Li Jin’an disturbing her serene cultivation. Surely she isn’t collecting these indecipherable characters!”
The two guard disciples were very indignant, because after the two of them went out and returned the day before yesterday, Li Jin’an had a dark expression, even more menacing than a malevolent god, and Xie Huaixue looked out of sorts, inexplicably distraught.
This clearly meant Li Jin’an had made a request Senior Sister Xie couldn’t agree to. Thus, the Dao Sect disciples were very suspicious of what heartless deed Li Jin’an had committed again.
Li Jin’an sped towards Yinyue Peak, which hadn’t yet been renamed. Her heart surged, unable to control herself.
She rushed into Yinyue Peak’s thousand-year-old unchanging cave abode, met Yinyue Monarch’s slightly startled gaze, and joyfully rushed into the arms of Yinyue Monarch, who still held a book.
“Sovereign!”
Yinyue Monarch gently stroked her head, looked at her with a smiling gaze, and said softly, “Our Jin’an is so well-behaved and clingy today. Sovereign is quite flattered.”
Li Jin’an, leaning dependently on her lap, felt her eyes redden, almost shedding warm tears.
She forcefully held back her tears, greedily absorbing the reassuring aura from Yinyue Monarch’s body, and softly murmured her name again, “Sovereign.”
Yinyue Monarch looked with soft eyes at the child, who rarely acted so spoiled. She then looked up at Chixin Sword Lord, who had just stepped inside, and asked in a cool tone, “Did you bully our An’an?”
Chixin Sword Lord slowly looked up. “Huh?”
“She’s slandering me and making false accusations again!” Chixin Sword Lord, who had just sat down, hastily protested her innocence. “All I did was ask if she wanted to ride my sword to find you! What else could I have done?!”
“Li Jin’an, tell Sovereign, did your master bully you or not?!”
“She complained that I embarrassed her in front of her love rival.” Li Jin’an raised her face and said firmly.
“Tan Yu.” Yinyue Monarch spoke Chixin Sword Lord’s name with incredibly gentle tones, her eyes sparkling as she looked at the dumbfounded Chixin Sword Lord.
“I didn’t!!”
Li Jin’an, having successfully ignited a battle, put her hands behind her back, provocatively pouted at her own master, and in a flash, changed her expression, looking innocently and obediently at Yinyue Monarch. “I’ll go find Xie Huaixue first. I have something to tell you two when I get back.”
After speaking, she skipped towards the cold pond in the back mountain.
Yinyue Monarch watched her leave with distant eyes, then thoughtfully retracted her gaze and slowly closed her book.
Chixin Sword Lord was still absorbed in the previous topic. She stood up and took a step forward and stammered, “I haven’t suppressed any love rivals outside, nor have I exposed our relationship. I’m very obedient.”
Yinyue Monarch pinched the bridge of her nose, let out a sigh, and rubbed Chixin Sword Lord’s ear as she leaned closer. “I know you’re good. Let’s not talk about this matter for now. Jin’an seems a little off.”
