Senior Sister Went Mad After My Fake Death Chapter 20

Wolf Demon

When Jiang Chunai dragged the lion demon out for the woman to see, her legs trembled uncontrollably; she simply couldn’t believe the demon was dead. Finally, under the soothing reassurance of both Jiang Chunai and Yan Linglong, she accepted the fact.
“Oh heavens, thank you, thank you,” she said, overwhelmed with emotion, almost wanting to kneel before the two of them. “Immortal Masters, you don’t know how we’ve been harassed by this demon for over a year! And a shaman even claimed our village had committed a sin, resulting in us sacrificing several children, yet this demon still continued to plague us!”
Jiang Chunai’s brows furrowed. “Pleading is useless against demons.” As she sheathed Snow Camellia, she noticed the coiling fine lines on her wrist. The lines seemed to have diminished. Why were there only two left? Was it because her feelings for Han Xiao were fading, and so the lines were fading too? Jiang Chunai inwardly sneered, but still paid it no mind.
The woman then introduced herself as Madam Xiao, and without question, called them her saviors, leading them towards the village. Jiang Chunai initially wanted to decline, but unable to resist Yan Linglong’s persuasion, she agreed. It was a good opportunity to gather some information along the way.
Madam Xiao had initially been respectful due to Jiang Chunai’s help, and after she defeated the lion demon, her admiration for Jiang Chunai grew even more immense. She led the two into the village, enthusiastically introducing the new Immortal Master to everyone.
“It’s this Immortal Master Jiang! She struck that lion demon dead with a single sword! Oh, the sword light, tsk tsk, it was such a long streak, I felt my eyes would be blinded.”
“Hahaha, Madam, listen to what you’re saying!”
In an instant, the object of everyone’s attention shifted back to Senior Sister Jiang Chunai. Yan Linglong stood by, and though everyone called her Immortal Master too, she inexplicably felt a sense of unease.
Upon learning of their presence, all the villagers invited the two Immortal Masters for a meal and requested them to stay at their homes. Jiang Chunai, unused to such a grand reception, hastily declined, but eventually, under Madam Xiao’s earnest persuasion, agreed to stay at her house, despite Madam Xiao’s claims that her bed was small.
As night fell, the two senior and junior sisters slept back-to-back, gazing up at the sky.
“Junior Sister, you came out alone, did you tell anyone?”
Yan Linglong shifted uncomfortably, just squeezing closer, not making a sound. Jiang Chunai asked a few more questions in succession, finding her junior sister quite strange. She had been fine on the way back, hadn’t she? Why was she suddenly like this? She wasn’t asleep, because she was still moving. But no matter what Jiang Chunai asked, Yan Linglong didn’t reply. Jiang Chunai didn’t understand why, only feeling sleepy. After asking several times and receiving no response from Yan Linglong, she gave up.
Forget it, sleep was more important.
She made up her mind to leave tomorrow.
“…”
Senior Sister Jiang Chunai was asleep, but Yan Linglong tossed and turned, unable to fall asleep for a long while. She was still thinking about the lion in the cave. In truth, she had arrived at this Xiao family village half a month before Jiang Chunai and had helped them clear out quite a few minor demons, except for that lion demon in the cave. Yet, they hadn’t held such a banquet for her. It was all because Senior Sister had killed that lion demon that the people of Xiao family village were acting this way.
Unwilling. Why? She had worked so hard, she should have killed a demon or two herself.
She had learned so many moves of the Purple Lightning Green Frost Sword… yet, it had inexplicably failed.
Yan Linglong turned over again, sighing loudly one after another, but she could only hear Jiang Chunai’s steady breathing.
She was sleeping soundly.
Alright, Senior Sister must be tired from exorcising demons. Yan Linglong thought.
Just then, a wolf’s head appeared by the thin paper window, illuminated eerily by the moonlight, looking terrifying and sinister.
Yan Linglong’s breath hitched, but she quickly calmed herself, even pulling out her sword.
It’s a demon. I can kill it. That way, the people of Xiao family village will celebrate her too.
Jiang Chunai awoke in the middle of the night, suddenly sensing dense demonic energy outside her door. She turned over and saw that her junior sister, along with her sword, was gone. She was greatly alarmed. When she rushed out, she couldn’t find her junior sister. The twilight deepened, and the moonlight was cold. The surroundings were silent; it seemed the people of Xiao family village were all immersed in their joy. Jiang Chunai knew that when the demon came, it hadn’t disturbed anyone else.
But why had her junior sister not woken her, and instead ventured out rashly?
At this thought, Jiang Chunai finally realized why her junior sister had been silent earlier that evening. She likely felt that she had expended effort on the lion demon first, only for Jiang Chunai to reap the benefits, and was therefore displeased.
But… this was an unavoidable situation. Jiang Chunai thought.
Helpless, Jiang Chunai gritted her teeth and knocked on Madam Xiao’s still-sleeping door, asking if there were any unexorcised demons nearby. Madam Xiao opened her eyes, still heavy with sleep, and thought for a while before saying, “Exorcise demons? Immortal Master, didn’t you help us kill that lion demon?”
“I mean, are there any others?” Jiang Chunai frowned. “My junior sister is now missing, and I suspect she has gone to pursue another demon.”
At this moment, Madam Xiao finally became fully alert. “The mine. You go out the front gate of our village, walk southeast, and you’ll find an abandoned mine near Laiheng Mountain. A… Bone Wolfman lives there.”
Jiang Chunai’s heart stirred. “Good, thank you.”
“Creak, creak,” the sound of bones echoed, like a net cast from heaven and earth, surging towards Yan Linglong. She trembled, shrinking and crawling inwards. “No, no, don’t come closer! You wolf demon! Die!”
Only now did Yan Linglong truly understand how terrifying the demons from the Cave of Severed Affections were. Before her stood a wolf-bodied, human-faced demon—and its flesh was entirely white bone, chillingly cold, without a trace of blood.
The Bone Wolfman smiled coldly. Its laughter didn’t come from its mouth, but rather seemed to be squeezed out from the bare bones all over its body, grinding against each other, making it even more eerie. “You came out to chase me yourself,” the wolfman said, grinning savagely. “I didn’t come to Xiao family village because of you.”
It was a special scent that had attracted it. The intestines of Nuwa had fallen to the earth, scattering into ten deities who governed the six realms. Though the deities had died, they had descendants.
“Unfortunately, I have no interest in you at all.” The wolfman shrugged, unexpectedly dropping a bone. It slowly picked up the bone, put it back in place, and continued making “creaking” sounds. “I’m going back. As for useless trash like you, just stay here and be eaten by passing ants, rats, or bats flying over your head. It makes no difference.”
“No, no!” Yan Linglong was so scared that tears streamed down her face, making her even more terrified. She didn’t want to die; she still had the Purple Lightning Green Frost Sword to learn, she hadn’t yet become a powerful cultivator, she hadn’t made anyone look at her with new respect… She hadn’t even brought Senior Sister Han Xiao’s birthday gift back.
Senior Sister, Senior Brother, fellow disciples, when will you come to save me?
She despairingly lowered her head, but the wolfman truly did not advance any further.
Yan Linglong tightly clutched the voice transmission jade seal.
When she opened her eyes again, she was neither in heaven nor hell, but back in the same place. What met her gaze was Jiang Chunai’s face. Mixed Yang Vital Energy surged through her body; no wonder she had woken up.
“Junior Sister, you’re finally awake,” Jiang Chunai said, looking down at her worriedly. “Come, let’s leave with Senior Sister. Don’t stay in this mine anymore—”
“No, I’m not going.” Yan Linglong refused to leave no matter what.
Jiang Chunai frowned. “Why won’t you leave? This mine is an abandoned place. If it collapses, we’ll both have a hard time escaping, especially in your current condition…”
“No, I’m just not going!”
No matter what Jiang Chunai said, Yan Linglong refused. Jiang Chunai could only give up. She had wanted to stay with her junior sister, but the talisman Cliff Master Mei had given her now glowed faintly before her. A projection of words suddenly appeared on it.
Cave of Severed Affections.
The Cliff Master had told her before leaving that, if nothing went wrong, the Pearl of Retrospection would be in the Ghost Market. But if something did go wrong…
As she hesitated, those three words transformed into “Do Not Enter.”
What did this mean?
Jiang Chunai thought about it. Could it be that the Cliff Master wanted her to go near the Cave of Severed Affections, but not to enter it? After much thought, this was the only logical explanation.
But she was still worried about her junior sister. She tried to persuade her several times, until her junior sister’s voice became hoarse. Jiang Chunai helplessly spread her hands, and could only pull the half-moon jade bracelet from her wrist and hand it to her junior sister.
“Take this item. It will keep you safe. Senior Sister will be back soon, so don’t wander around.”
Yan Linglong was dazed as she took the jade bracelet from Jiang Chunai’s hand.
“I’m going to the Cave of Severed Affections.” To be brief, Jiang Chunai said this.
Her junior sister’s mouth opened, words on the tip of her tongue, but she didn’t utter them.
She trembled, clutching the jade seal.
She had just sent a message to her senior and junior brothers and sisters, telling them she was in the mine at Laiheng Mountain, waiting for rescue.
And… the demon was in the Cave of Severed Affections.
