Sunlight poured in, scattering specks of light within the dim little bamboo house. Luo Tangtang kept her eyes tightly shut, her face buried in Yun Shayi’s neck.
After a long while, Yun Shayi’s eyelashes fluttered. She opened her eyes, her somewhat unfocused pupils focusing after a moment. She raised her hand and brushed away the hair that had fallen on her face; it tickled a little.
The person on her stirred. With a roll, she slid off Yun Shayi. As she moved, she clutched half the blanket to her chest.
Yun Shayi felt her embrace suddenly empty, and her brow furrowed.
Luo Tangtang had already rolled to one side, sleeping very soundly.
Yun Shayi reached out her slender, elegant hand, quietly trying to pull the blanket from Luo Tangtang’s grasp. But the other was sleeping too deeply, clutching the blanket tightly, and she couldn’t pull it free no matter how she tried.
Yun Shayi was a little frustrated, her lips pursing slightly. The next moment, the blanket in Luo Tangtang’s arms vanished. Yun Shayi’s eyes were deep as she very gently pulled Luo Tangtang into her embrace. Then she separated Luo Tangtang’s legs and wrapped them around her own waist.
The blanket descended from above, gently covering them both. Yun Shayi was satisfied. The corners of her mouth lifted, and she closed her eyes.
When Luo Tangtang woke up, she found herself clinging to Yun Shayi like an octopus. She paused, stunned for a moment, then quietly tried to untangle her legs and climb off the other woman.
“Senior Sister, good morning.” A cool, slightly hoarse voice sounded by her ear. Luo Tangtang silently turned her face away and calmly removed her two “paws” from Yun Shayi’s neck.
“Morning.”
She immediately sat up.
Yun Shayi chuckled softly beside her, a knowing little laugh.
“I didn’t realize Senior Sister liked me so much, wanting to sleep so intimately with me, our feet touching and necks entwined.”
Luo Tangtang’s face suddenly felt a bit hot, perhaps because of Yun Shayi’s teasing.
She kept a calm expression and beckoned to Yun Shayi with a finger. “Come on, give me a kiss.”
Yun Shayi, however, froze, completely still.
Luo Tangtang said, “Weren’t you all talk just now? When it comes to actually doing it… you can’t?”
Luo Tangtang’s voice became a little strange, her eyes filled with provocation.
Yun Shayi’s breathing grew a bit heavier. “Oh? You think you know?”
Luo Tangtang turned her face away. “The day before yesterday, you clearly couldn’t.”
Yun Shayi stiffened, her gaze turning sharp, and she said through gritted teeth, “If you’re so capable, then don’t use your tail.”
Luo Tangtang, however, reclined leisurely on the bed, her posture languid. Behind her, a tail emerged, swaying back and forth, exceptionally conspicuous.
“I’m a white tiger, you know. Don’t think I don’t know you’re the one who shaved the fur on my tail bald. You have to take responsibility.”
Luo Tangtang was secretly pleased. But she hadn’t been smug for long before Yun Shayi pounced on her.
“Since Senior Sister’s tail is out, don’t hide your ears either. Today, I’ll let Senior Sister hear… which of us is louder.”
The two of them dallied and fooled around until it was already noon.
Luo Tangtang pouted a little, somewhat annoyed.
“I find you’re getting better and better at pretending.” Her tone carried a hint of complaint.
Yun Shayi also knew she had gone a bit too far just now and admitted her mistake quite sincerely, “I was wrong.”
Luo Tangtang felt a little aggrieved. Before she could speak, she heard Yun Shayi continue, “I just wanted to confirm if Senior Sister truly existed.”
Yun Shayi’s tone was somewhat mournful and resentful, her eyes also red. “That time, when I had just woken up, Senior Sister was lying lifeless in my arms… I…”
“I…” Luo Tangtang instantly lost her anger.
This was her fault. She just didn’t know how to face Yun Shayi. Facing their imminent separation, she had become a coward, discarding her armor and fleeing. Yet she had made Yun Shayi endure everything. This was her fault, the result of her own self-righteous assumptions.
She had nothing to deny. After hesitating for a moment, Luo Tangtang still told Yun Shayi everything.
Looking at Yun Shayi, whose face was filled with shock, long eyelashes trembling incessantly, her figure even trembling slightly, Luo Tangtang’s guilt was about to overflow.
“I’m sorry,” she apologized, her voice hoarse.
What would she think? Luo Tangtang lowered her head, not even daring to look at Yun Shayi’s expression.
The air grew somewhat heavy; Luo Tangtang’s breathing almost stopped. A shadow fell over her from above, and in an instant, Luo Tangtang was embraced.
The voice from above her head was a little muffled. “Then Senior Sister was very unfair. Even so, you should have told me when you left. At that time, I held your body… my eyes never left you.”
Yun Shayi’s eyes darkened somewhat.
Luo Tangtang’s body stiffened. Her hands loosened for a moment, then gripped Yun Shayi’s waist tightly again.
“I’m sorry…”
She could only repeat this phrase over and over.
Yun Shayi closed her eyes for a moment. “Then you have to compensate me.” She placed her hand on Luo Tangtang’s waist.
Luo Tangtang was a little stunned, somewhat bewildered.
Yun Shayi, however, shook her head. “It took so much for me to wait until now; I don’t want to dwell on those things. As long as you’re by my side, everything is fine.”
“Mm,” Luo Tangtang’s lips moved, her eyes shining with light, and she nodded softly.
Yes, as long as Luo Tangtang stayed with her, nothing else mattered. She wouldn’t tell Luo Tangtang that on the day she left, she had held her corpse and kept calling her name.
And she also wouldn’t tell her that to bring her back, she had used the drop of a main god’s blood that Luo Tangtang had left on the Fusang tree to successfully connect all the worlds.
If too much time had passed… if Senior Sister hadn’t returned when she did… all those worlds would have descended into chaos.
“Senior Sister,” Yun Shayi called out, her hand squeezing Luo Tangtang’s waist.
“?”
Luo Tangtang grasped the other’s mischievous hand and looked up with some confusion.
Yun Shayi was smiling, her eyes very bright. “Compensation, don’t forget.”
