Running Off With The Sect Senior Sister Chapter 56

The Truth

Luo Tangtang’s eyes moved slowly. Her face was stiff as she stared intently at the dark shadow, not blinking at all.
The dark shadow instantly flew into a rage. Taking Luo Tangtang’s stare as an insult, it pounced towards the person on the ground, wanting to tear her to shreds.
Luo Tangtang watched the huge dark shadow, which carried a somber gloom and an immense pressure. The dense aura made it difficult for her to breathe, and her already pale cheeks flushed red.
She closed her eyes, not wanting to resist.
The fierce wind suddenly stopped. The expected pain didn’t come. Luo Tangtang blankly opened her eyes and saw the dark shadow standing before her had abruptly halted, as if frozen.
“Is this all it takes for you to give up?” Luo Yi turned her face away, her tone ice-cold.
“Senior Sister.” Luo Tangtang was still lying on the ground and didn’t get up.
“You remember, don’t you?”
Luo Yi stiffened slightly.
“Is this what you wanted me to see?”
Luo Tangtang looked up at the sky, which was still dim. Her voice was somewhat hollow and distant. “Is this from a past life, or this one?”
Time seemed to stop between them, ceasing its flow. If it weren’t for this scene, Luo Tangtang might have even praised the moment as ‘peaceful years.’
The pitter-patter of footsteps sounded. Luo Yi, or rather, Yun Shayi, walked over. She had returned to her original appearance, still coldly aloof and ethereal, her eyes devoid of any emotion as she looked at Luo Tangtang.
Luo Tangtang’s hand instantly went slack, dropping limply to her side.
“You remember it all? Or did you never forget?”
“My coming to this world… was that also part of your plot, your scheme?”
Luo Tangtang blinked, and tears rolled down her cheeks. “So, you just watched me go through all this?”
“I just watched you like this?” Yun Shayi’s face twisted into a momentary grimace.
She strode forward, grabbed Luo Tangtang by the collar, and yanked her up. “How did I treat you? I merely gave you a taste of your own medicine.”
Her face burned with an unfamiliar fury, and a chilling glint flashed in her eyes. “You can’t take this already? Have you forgotten everything you did to me?”
“What did I do? You all know, but I’m the only one who doesn’t. And then you use things I know nothing about to make me take the blame, to make me confess?” Luo Tangtang bit her lip hard. She felt like vomiting.
“Disgusting. Truly disgusting.”
“Disgusting?” Yun Shayi looked as if she’d heard the world’s biggest joke. “Are you saying I’m disgusting?”
Luo Tangtang frowned. Her gaze inadvertently met Yun Shayi’s eyes. They were bloodshot, filled with a sinister gloom and a deep hatred she couldn’t comprehend. Luo Tangtang subconsciously turned her head away, raising a hand to try and break free from Yun Shayi’s grip.
But unexpectedly, this movement seemed to provoke Yun Shayi. Ignoring Luo Tangtang’s struggles, she lowered her head and kissed her fiercely.
Yun Shayi gripped the back of Luo Tangtang’s head tightly. The taste of blood mingled between their lips. Yun Shayi’s actions were rough, unsparingly biting at Luo Tangtang’s lips.
Luo Tangtang was shocked by her actions, her breathing becoming ragged. She pushed at Yun Shayi but couldn’t break free. Luo Tangtang’s mind went muddled, and she bit down hard.
Yun Shayi’s actions paused, and she released her grip. Luo Tangtang’s body, suddenly unsupported, fell heavily to the ground. Yun Shayi silently watched Luo Tangtang, who lay there like a broken doll.
“The truth… I want to know. Tell me,” Luo Tangtang said.
Yun Shayi’s eyes darkened. She slowly squatted down, her hand reaching towards Luo Tangtang’s face. “That world… What was it like? And that part of the memory?”
Luo Tangtang’s eyes moved, looking at Yun Shayi.
The other woman smiled, but there was no mirth in her eyes. “This world was indeed created by me, Great Divine Envoy.”
“Oh, the one from the very beginning.”
“Great Divine Envoy?” Luo Tangtang sounded puzzled.
Yun Shayi’s expression turned grim. “That’s right, Luo Yi!”
“Am I really Luo Yi? Wasn’t that you in disguise?”
“Of course not,” Yun Shayi gritted her teeth.
Luo Tangtang’s lips pressed together. If that’s true, does it mean… all that Eldest Senior Sister went through… was I that hateful in the past too? Did I push her like that?
At this thought, Luo Tangtang felt as if she couldn’t breathe. She looked at the corner of the plain white robe before her eyes but somehow lacked the courage to reach for it.
Disgusting? It’s me who’s disgusting.
It’s all my fault.
“Do you hate me?” Luo Tangtang asked.
Yun Shayi stood up. The surrounding pitch-black scenery instantly dissipated, like clouds parting to reveal the sun. A hole appeared in the sky above, and then the darkness receded swiftly like an ebbing tide.
Revealed was a stretch of gleaming black rooftop. Everything had dissipated, and she now found herself in a palace. High on the jade steps, Yun Shayi sat, motionless.
Luo Tangtang looked at Yun Shayi’s face. She had thought she would hate Yun Shayi for being so cruel to her. But when she realized that all of this was what she herself had once done, she felt she had no right to hate.
A huge, bubble-like object floated in mid-air, reflecting a world within. That world was suffused with an expanse of blood-red, so vivid it felt as if it were gushing from her own eyes. She abruptly buried her head.
“Don’t you dare to look? You killed them all,” Yun Shayi said indifferently.
“I didn’t expect the Main God would still dare to send you here. For what? A self-injury ploy?” Yun Shayi sneered. “Do you think I’m as easy to deceive as I was before?”
Luo Tangtang kept her head buried and said nothing. She knew nothing right now, powerless to argue or refute.
Yun Shayi seemed to sigh. She walked down from the throne, and the corner of her plain white robe once again fluttered before Luo Tangtang’s eyes.
“What did he send you here to do? Is it like before, to kill me?” Yun Shayi’s tone suddenly softened, but the next second, she spoke with biting hatred, “I really want to stab you to death and then die with you.”
“But will you die? Even if I die a thousand times, even if my soul truly shatters and I completely disappear from this world, will you die?”
“You only deceive me. You only want me to die. How could you possibly die?”
“I won’t kill you. And I won’t let you die,” Luo Tangtang refuted in a small voice.
Yun Shayi froze. She lowered her eyes. “When you remember everything, I’ll settle the score with you then.”
Yun Shayi’s gaze softened as she looked at Luo Tangtang’s face. The next moment, Luo Tangtang found herself being lifted into an embrace. Her body stiffened at once, but she reacted in an instant, snuggling into the other’s arms. Yun Shayi didn’t stop her.
She was carried into a room. Luo Tangtang’s gaze swept around; it was identical to her room in Fusang Valley.
When she was placed on the hard stone bed, she pouted. Yun Shayi had shown her a sliver of kindness, and here she was, wanting a mile after being given an inch. She felt inexplicably wronged and couldn’t help but inwardly despise herself for being so melodramatic.
Yun Shayi noticed her expression. Her hand paused imperceptibly, and her tone turned chilling, “You are a captive now.”
Luo Tangtang continued to pout and mumbled, “Captives have human rights too.”
Yun Shayi immediately let out a cold laugh.
Luo Tangtang flinched and didn’t dare to make another sound.
“Senior Sister, tell me about the past!” Luo Tangtang said.
She could feel Yun Shayi’s contradictory feelings for her—there was hate, but also love. But she had never felt Yun Shayi turn a completely cold shoulder to her. Seeing her face now, Luo Tangtang grew bold again.
“Luo Tangtang, do you think you even have a heart?” Yun Shayi gave her a deep look.
Luo Tangtang’s chest ached, but she pretended to be calm and quickly placed her hand over her heart. “It might not be obvious, but it’s beating. I do have a heart.”
Yun Shayi glanced at her, her tone chilly. “Perhaps your hands are too rough, or your skin too thick. You might have felt it wrong.”
Luo Tangtang: “…”
Her eyes reddened. “You won’t tell me anything, yet you paint me as some heinous villain, a bad person who plays with feelings.”
“I… I have no way to defend myself.”
“Defend? What is there to defend? You might as well go out and ask around. Who doesn’t know what ‘good deeds’ you, the Great Divine Envoy, have done!” Yun Shayi scoffed.
“But I advise you not to go out. Others won’t be as ‘kind-hearted’ as I am.” As she said this, Yun Shayi’s expression turned very cold.
Luo Tangtang shivered, her lips pressing together tightly again.
“Stay here obediently. I don’t want to see you right now. If you dare sneak out…” Yun Shayi dangerously narrowed her eyes, a cold glint flashing within them.
Luo Tangtang immediately lowered her eyes. “I know. I won’t go out.”
Only then did Yun Shayi nod in satisfaction, turn around, and vanish.
“‘Host.’” Almost the instant Yun Shayi disappeared, the System spoke.
“‘The truth. Tell me,’” Luo Tangtang’s tone was also somewhat cold.
“‘You wouldn’t want to know,’” the System said after a moment of silence.
“I’ll only ask you one thing,” Luo Tangtang said, her expression becoming incredibly serious.
“Is it true… Is it true that I wronged Yun Shayi?”
The System fell silent. After a long while, it replied, “‘Yes.’”
At this, Luo Tangtang too fell silent.
“I am Luo Yi?”
“‘Yes.’”
“And you are Luo Er?”
“‘…Yes.’”
The air instantly fell silent.
“Get out!” Luo Tangtang ordered.
The System instantly went silent.
