I Find Her Disgusting Chapter 81

Chapter 81

“It’s getting late. The secret realm only opens in a few days. Let’s find a place to stay first.”
“How about this one?”
“Then what about this one?”
“…But, there’s nothing better here, Sect Master.”
The people around looked at the young woman with surprise.
A black dog was perched on her left shoulder, and she was holding an orange cat. A golden ornament was coiled around her waist, but besides that, she was very plainly dressed.
Her temperament was delicate and gentle, which was already eye-catching, but what made people take a second look was—the woman was muttering something, but upon closer listening, it seemed she was talking to herself.
The other people in the inn looked at her strangely and inevitably moved further away. After all, there were all sorts of people these days.
The woman, however, was completely oblivious and said gently, looking down, “This is it, let’s not be picky. Alright, alright. If we keep looking, we might not have a place to stay…”
A small thing with damp ear tips moved, squinting lazily in her arms.
Yan Huirou’s eyes curved, and she held her a little tighter.
The inn before them was called the “Four Corners Inn.” It was a bit too plain, looking gray and gloomy from a distance. It was far from beautiful, but it was close to the Bamboo Forest Temple’s secret realm.
It was naturally far from the standards the Sect Master liked, but since they were out, they couldn’t be too picky.
Yan Huirou looked around and felt she couldn’t find anything better, so she gently stepped inside.
“There are too many cultivators here. Hide me a little better, so as not to arouse suspicion.”
A reminder floated into Yan Huirou’s mind.
She understood. With an elegant lift of her hand, she covered the small cat with her wide sleeve. The pads of her fingers just happened to touch the small cat’s chin, and she rubbed it gently. “Sect Master, is this proper?”
“…”
This looks even more like she’s holding some priceless treasure, Jiang Xidai thought.
But Yan Huirou seemed to want to show off to the whole world—that she had a small cat.
The young girl rarely had such childish moments. Jiang Xidai sighed and couldn’t be bothered to correct her.
After all, even if she was recognized, so what? The four great righteous sects together couldn’t kill her, let alone now. Hiding was mostly just to—prevent Yan Huirou’s trial from ending before it even began.
A moment later, Yan Huirou also realized it was improper, so she lowered her hand in a cover-up manner and switched to a more natural and inconspicuous way.
She went to negotiate the price with the owner and paid the deposit.
“Which sect is the esteemed guest from?”
Yan Huirou, of course, couldn’t say the Shasheng Sect, lest she scare others. She said softly, “No sect, just a rogue cultivator.”
The owner didn’t even lift his eyelids and tossed her a wooden plaque. “Second floor.”
Yan Huirou didn’t think much of it and, hooking the string with her little finger, turned to leave.
But she inadvertently heard another sentence from behind her.
“Which sect is the esteemed guest from?”
“From the Haoran Sect.”
The man’s attitude immediately became respectful. “Esteemed immortal, your arrival brings light to my humble shop. There are many cultivators here, and there are private rooms and tea on the first floor…”
Yan Huirou had just stepped on the stairs when she was squeezed by someone and ended up pressed against the wall.
The innkeeper was leading the way enthusiastically, even carrying some tea, and went up the stairs in a few steps, seeming not to notice the customer who had been pushed into a corner.
But another voice sounded, “This inn is close to the secret realm, and many disciples from immortal sects rest here. Business is booming, and there are many nobles from large sects among them, so the people here are not very willing to entertain rogue cultivators and cultivators from small sects… Fellow Daoist, when you’re out, you don’t have to be so honest. You can just pick a decent sect to report.”
Yan Huirou was pulled up, freeing her from the narrow spot, and she steadied herself.
She turned around and found that it was a group of young cultivators. She nodded. “…Thank you.”
The leader of the group looked to be no more than twenty. He smiled upon hearing her. “No need for thanks. Is fellow Daoist also here for the Bamboo Forest Temple’s secret realm? Why not join us?”
Yan Huirou: “No need.”
“You have company?”
Yan Huirou hesitated for a moment. The little cat in her arms was brushing her wrist with its tail, as if dissatisfied. She thought there was no need for further entanglement and nodded. “Yes, I do.”
Yan Huirou ended the conversation in a few words and went up to the second floor alone.
She opened the door and leaned against it, listening until the footsteps had faded away before she took out the cat in her arms and placed it on her lap.
The toasted marshmallow, from being tucked in her arms just now, was not so neat and had become a messy ball of cotton.
Yan Huirou’s heart softened at the sight, and she couldn’t help but touch the cat’s ear, asking, “How much do you know about the Bamboo Forest Temple’s secret realm?”
“If I’m not mistaken, your fortune should be here… Stop touching, take your hand away.”
“Hm? Since the Sect Master can predict it, then what exactly is the fortune?”
Yan Huirou regretfully paused her hand.
Jiang Xidai did not answer for a moment. She wanted to say that this was an important plot point, the matter of the female lead awakening her bloodline after dual cultivation.
But… this would involve Li Xinghe again. If it were in the past, Jiang Xidai wouldn’t have cared. At one point, she had even hoped that Yan Huirou would get together with him sooner so she could gain more cultivation points.
But now, things had changed.
She only hoped that all of Yan Huirou’s attention would be on her. How could she share it with others?
But the plot would change with the female lead’s character settings. It had already deviated a lot, and it was hard to say what the final outcome would be.
A puff of light smoke dissipated, and the overlapping red robes fell like a waterfall.
Yan Huirou’s lap grew heavy, and a dark fragrance suddenly came with the wind, becoming tangible and pressing down on her entirely.
She was forced to lean back, and she heard the chair creak under the weight.
Yan Huirou hadn’t expected her to suddenly change back. As she was in a daze, her cheeks were cupped in time. “Not everything can be predicted.”
Jiang Xidai was straddling her lap, tilting her head and smiling. “Although the fortune is uncertain, with me here, protecting you should still be no problem. Hm?”
Yan Huirou blinked. “You seem very happy.”
The next moment, her lips were warm and soft.
Yan Huirou closed her eyes and was obediently kissed against the back of the chair. She felt Jiang Xidai’s hair brush against her neck, a cool, itching sensation.
Her neck was forced straight, and a nimble, soft thing traced the tip of her tongue. The kiss was long and lingering, and they only separated when Yan Huirou was about to run out of breath.
The pads of her fingers gently stroked by her ear, and a strand of her hair was lifted and wrapped around her finger.
As Jiang Xidai played with her hair, she said softly, “Yanyan, you said you love me. Of course I’m happy.”
Just as Yan Huirou was about to say something more, she didn’t expect Jiang Xidai’s topic to change so quickly. It suddenly went back to proper business. “Once we’re in the secret realm, you just go on your own. Don’t follow others.”
Yan Huirou was surprised by this jump, but from their close proximity, she saw that the woman’s ears were a little red.
Jiang Xidai moved slightly, and her hair fell down, covering it again.
According to the System’s update, Jiang Xidai had a vague guess that the female lead’s luck was stronger, so it was better for her to make her own choices.
“How does the Sect Master know these things?” Yan Huirou relaxed and wrapped her arms around Jiang Xidai’s waist. This action made the other person stiffen for a moment before relaxing.
“What was the Sect Master’s life like before? What happened at the Lingshan Sect? Why did it become like this?” Yan Huirou asked softly, as if letting her thoughts flow. “I really want to know. After all, I’ve never heard you mention it.”
Jiang Xidai raised an eyebrow. “Which of the things you’re asking about can be answered in a few words?”
After a moment, she said, “I’m also quite curious about your origins, such as your life before you were imprisoned in the Cave Prison.”
Yan Huirou shook her head. “If only I could remember.”
“You’ve really forgotten a lot of things?” Jiang Xidai said, “Who did it? Was it those rotten people from the Qingxu Sect who did something to you?”
Yan Huirou thought for a while, then shook her head again. “I don’t remember either. My only memory is you. The first time we met, I was filled with a mix of emotions…” As she said this, she was indeed filled with a mix of emotions, her voice full, and she smiled. “It’s like when Jia Baoyu said to Lin Daiyu, ‘I have seen this sister before.’”
“Who is Lin Daiyu?”
“From a novel. It’s a classic. Haven’t you heard of it?”
“…No.” Jiang Xidai said thoughtfully, “But this is really not very likely. After all, my memory isn’t that bad. I never went to the Qingxu Sect in those years.”
Once Yan Huirou fell into her memories, her head began to ache faintly again.
Jiang Xidai seemed to see the change in her expression. She pressed a finger to her temple and rubbed it gently. “What’s the point of thinking so much? What’s past is past. Knowing it is the past, and not knowing it is also the past. There’s nothing to think about. Just like me, even if I remember the past, if I had a choice, I would rather forget it.”
When the woman lifted her sleeve, the familiar dark fragrance floated.
Yan Huirou’s headache eased. She pulled herself out of her thoughts, let out a sigh of relief, and obediently leaned against Jiang Xidai. “Alright, I won’t think about it anymore.”
Her Sect Master held her, and as before, she kissed her between the brows. Yan Huirou was reassured by this gesture. She looked up, only to find that Jiang Xidai’s eyes were staring motionlessly at the window.
The little black dog, which had been dozing on the floor, suddenly perked up its ears and got up to bite the corner of Yan Huirou’s clothes—only to be kicked aside by Jiang Xidai.
Jiang Xidai flicked her wrist and extinguished a nearby candle.
The candlelight in the room dimmed.
Her fingers gently pressed against Yan Huirou’s lips.
Yan Huirou’s body tensed a little. She looked closely, feeling that some kind of sleeping mist would be blown from the bamboo tube that just appeared.
Just as she was about to cover her nose and mouth, a sound of something cutting through the air was heard.
Jiang Xidai curled her lips, and with a flick of her wrist, she shot out a hairpin.
The hairpin was so fast it was almost silent, and it accurately pierced the bamboo tube. Yan Huirou saw a plum-blossom-sized splash of blood on the dim window.
The slight sound immediately ceased.
It seemed that the person hadn’t had time to do anything before they had died for their cause.
Yan Huirou awkwardly lowered her sleeve.
Jiang Xidai slipped off her lap and touched the ground with her toes. “Let’s go see.”
When she reached the door, she clearly felt a few more people outside the window. Jiang Xidai glanced over there and said softly, “Forget it, Yanyan, you go and see.”
Yan Huirou nodded, gripped Golden Tower Jade Palace, and carefully approached the door, pushing it open a little with the tip of her sword.
Caution was a good thing, and Jiang Xidai was very pleased. But her movements were so cautious it was a little funny. Like a little bunny timidly peeking out of its burrow, she nudged around the mound of earth for a long time but didn’t move an inch.
“I’m here.”
The woman behind her said gently.
Yan Huirou’s sword tip trembled a little. She wanted to say that she wasn’t even afraid of an enemy attack—it was just the thought of opening the door and possibly seeing a corpse with its brains splattered by a jade hairpin… just like the half-eyeball that had floated into her soup that day.
She was afraid that she would, without any dignity, vomit all over the place in front of Jiang Xidai again.
Unfortunately, the Sect Master would probably never understand such a fear.
Yan Huirou steeled herself and flung the door open.
There was no corpse on the floor. Yan Huirou stared at the ground, then finally looked away with a sigh of relief and turned her head—
Her heart suddenly tightened.
The person was pinned to the door frame by Jiang Xidai, still in the same posture as when they were alive, without even a cry for help.
She didn’t dare to look closely and immediately averted her gaze, scanning her surroundings.
In the dim corridor, she saw several cultivators with swords standing at the end—it was the same group she had briefly encountered before.
“There’s no way we can miss. She’s alone, a rogue cultivator, and looks young.”
“…That sash doesn’t look cheap. How much can we get for this whole outfit?”
“We’ll split the spoils later.”
As Yan Huirou came out, she met their gazes, and the several lines of sight shot straight at her.
The very faint whispers ceased, and the surroundings were dead silent.
