I Find Her Disgusting Chapter 4

Chapter 4

Jiang Xidai’s eyes opened once again, another layer of cold sweat beading on her forehead.
Before her, the coil of incense sent a plume of smoke straight up, completely still.
She stared at it for a long moment before finally letting out a breath. The smoke wavered and swirled, dissipating slightly.
A knock sounded at the door. Wen Xianyin walked in and said respectfully, “I came today to remind you that the day of your appointment with ‘that person’ has arrived…”
Jiang Xidai raised a hand, and Wen Xianyin’s voice stopped abruptly.
“Leave.”
Wen Xianyin hesitated for a moment, looking like she had more to say.
Jiang Xidai frowned. “I know what you’re going to say. That this journey is perilous. That the Qingxu Sect, Shenji Pavilion, Lanyue Pavilion, and Haoran Sect have all responded. Is there any need to repeat yourself?”
“…If the Sect Master is aware, then I can be more at ease,” Wen Xianyin said, at a loss for words. “Please, be careful with everything.”
After Wen Xianyin left, Jiang Xidai rubbed her temples and, as expected, heard the otherworldly voice once more.
“Host, the system has already reminded you. The female lead is blessed with the fortune of the Heavenly Dao and has a built-in rebound buff. She cannot be killed. The plot of this text has already deviated from its course. The system will cooperate with you to guide the plot back on track as soon as possible. Please…”
Jiang Xidai’s eyes darkened. She softly repeated, “Heavenly Dao’s fortune, rebound… buff? Are you saying that the person I just encountered is the one named Yan Huirou?”
“Correct.”
Now that she had encountered this mysterious young woman, she had died twice in a row at her hands…
A flicker of annoyance sparked within her.
To think such a unique constitution and bizarre technique existed in this world.
In all her years, Jiang Xidai had never met an enemy who could kill her in a single move. She figured that the Qingxu Sect wasn’t punishing this person by hiding her in the cave prison, but rather imprisoning her for their own use.
The Qingxu Sect—that bunch is no good. Not only did they constantly cause trouble for the Shasheng Sect, but they also stopped Ah Ke from seeking her out and having any connection with her.
Since this girl was advantageous to them, leaving her alive would become an endless source of trouble for the Shasheng Sect and for herself in the future.
She absolutely could not be allowed to live.
The third time, Jiang Xidai once again ignored the system’s advice and headed straight for the Qingxu Sect’s cave prison. This time, she didn’t use an aggressive method like stabbing her to death.
Instead, she collapsed the cave prison with a wave of her sleeve, watching as rocks and earth rumbled down, burying the entire cave into a pile of ruins.
Just as she was holding her breath in anticipation, the familiar feeling of pain washed over her.
When she opened her eyes again, she was back to the day before.
Jiang Xidai snorted coldly. “That counts too?”
System: “…”
A buzzing sound came from the other side, like the cold, mechanical sigh of a machine. The host it was bound to this time was temperamental and not easy to get along with. After weighing its options, the system chose to remain silent, patiently waiting for her to come to her senses.
This wait lasted for ninety-six times.
In the remaining ninety-six attempts, the host tried methods including, but not limited to, lightning strikes, burning, burying alive, suffocation, and poisoning. But whether it was indirect or direct murder, she would always return to the previous day after Yan Huirou died.
On the ninety-ninth time, Jiang Xidai captured a low-level disciple from the Qingxu Sect and forced him to give Yan Huirou a quick death.
The disciple died on the spot, and Yan Huirou fell silent.
Jiang Xidai thought she had succeeded, but before she could even breathe a sigh of relief, her vision went black and she was sent back again, just in time to hear her disciple, Wen Xianyin, knocking on her door for the one-hundredth time.
Wen Xianyin pushed the door open, but before a single word could escape her lips, she saw her Sect Master staring at her with cold, dark eyes, as if she had committed some fatal error.
“Sect Master—”
“Get out.” A single word escaped those crimson lips.
Wen Xianyin couldn’t bear it. “I have observed that you seem weary and exhausted these past few days. Why not rest well… I will take my leave.”
Before she could leave, she was called back.
“Wen Xianyin.”
The woman on the couch crossed one leg over the other. Her pale fingers rested on the edge of the bed, tracing the lotus-patterned carvings. Her expression turned cold for a moment. “If there is a person on the enemy’s side who possesses a divine power, and the situation is unclear, what would you do?”
Wen Xianyin answered decisively, “I believe it would be best to eliminate them quickly.”
“And if—”
Jiang Xidai’s fingertips tapped lightly. She said in a soft, drawn-out tone, “—they cannot be eliminated?”
“With the Sect Master’s strength, is there truly such a person in this world?” Wen Xianyin pondered for a moment. “If it were me, I might avoid a direct confrontation to prevent harm to myself.”
“And if you cannot avoid it?”
“…In that case,” Wen Xianyin said with her head bowed, “it would be better to appeal to their emotions and make use of them. Since they possess a divine power, they can also be wielded as a sharp blade in one’s hand.”
Jiang Xidai’s eyes rested on Wen Xianyin’s face.
Wen Xianyin lowered her head even further.
After a long while, she laughed softly. “You’ve grown up a little, able to share your elder’s burdens. You’re right, but there’s just one point I don’t quite agree with.”
She didn’t elaborate, only raising an eyebrow. “You may leave.”
Wen Xianyin had intended to leave, but then she saw Jiang Xidai preparing to go out. So, she stayed where she was, raised her head, and offered a word of caution, “Sect Master.”
Jiang Xidai looked back. “What is it?”
Wen Xianyin’s words were stuck in her throat. She boldly met Jiang Xidai’s eyes.
The red-robed woman was naturally beautiful, her eyes shaped like peach blossoms, carrying a sharp edge within their charm. But when she focused on someone, her eyes curving in a smile, she could make one feel as if they were basking in a spring breeze. And indeed, many years ago, it had been just like that. Wen Xianyin had seen the gentle way she smiled at Pavilion Lord Zhan.
It was just that Wen Xianyin had rarely seen such an expression since.
As a junior, it wasn’t her place to get involved in the affairs between Pavilion Lord Zhan and her master. The cause and effect of it all were unclear; she had only heard vague rumors.
The two had been the closest of friends in their youth. When Jiang Xidai was still in the Lingshan Sect, she often associated with Zhan Ke of the Lanyue Pavilion.
Overnight, the Lingshan Sect was annihilated, and from then on, the world had a decisive and murderous “Crimson Illumination.”
It was unknown how Jiang Xidai became the master of the Shasheng Sect, or how she and Zhan Ke went their separate ways.
Isn’t life just a chaotic play? Black hair turns white in the blink of an eye, beautiful faces become skeletons, old friends are no longer, and a bit of friendship might not even outlive the old, withered tree by the gate.
These kinds of stories were told too often in playbooks; they were cliché. Perhaps the Sect Master herself didn’t think it was worth talking about, so she never did.
The rules in the Shasheng Sect were the same: upon entering, one does not ask about the past, only whether one has the heartlessness to sever all ties.
The funny thing is, has the Sect Master herself severed her ties?
“Sect Master…”
“When you meet her, be careful with everything.”
Wen Xianyin paused, then respectfully kept to her place.
After Wen Xianyin left, Jiang Xidai once again set out on the familiar path through the clouds to the Qingxu Sect.
To be honest, she was tired of flying this route. She even remembered the shapes of the clouds around her all too well.
Thinking of that wretched girl chained to the dragon pillars, Jiang Xidai’s already calm mood stirred with another wave of irritation.
So annoying, I really want to strangle her—
Unfortunately, it was impossible.
Inside the cave prison, the barely-clothed young girl hung her head, chained to a pillar, on the verge of death.
Her name was Yan Huirou, and she was eighteen years old. Ever since she became conscious, she had found herself here. She had never seen the light of day, chained up and barely surviving. Occasionally, people would come and inflict various wounds on her, as if they were testing something. The iron hooks pierced her flesh and bone. Most of the time, she was submerged in endless pain, with no escape.
Despair stretched out like a river with no end in sight.
Today, she heard a tremendous roar, and a dazzling sunlight filled the damp, dark cave prison.
For the first time, it shone on her body.
Yan Huirou struggled to lift her eyes. In a daze, she saw a stunning figure in red robes approaching with an umbrella.
