After Feigning Amnesia, My Sworn Enemy Takes Revenge Chapter 66

Side Story: Yun Lingyue and Wu Bei (Part 2)

Wu Bei was kicked off the bed.
This morning, Yun Lingyue was completely awake and remembered everything from last night. She hadn’t forgotten that the person resurrected before her was the other demonic cultivator who had been wearing a veil yesterday.
She had hidden so deeply, and when the deception was revealed, the hatred was equally profound.
Seeing the unconcealed fury in Yun Lingyue’s eyes, Wu Bei retreated, backing all the way to the door, nearly tripping over a chair.
But none of that mattered. What mattered was how she should explain, how she should lie again.
“Yun, Sister Yun, I…”
“Shut up!”
Yun Lingyue’s flying sword flew out, countless swords gathering at Wu Bei’s throat, and one was just three inches from her eyes, pointed directly at her pupils.
“I told you to shut up! Who allowed you to call me that? Are you worthy, demon cultivator? Are you worthy?!”
“Just what in the world are you?!”
Her face was filled with hate. Thinking of last night made her feel nauseous and want to gag again. She wished she could command her sword to immediately pierce the eyes of the trembling person opposite her.
But somehow, she couldn’t bring herself to do it…
“Get out, get out of here!”
The entire palace chamber was left only with furious roars and a figure fleeing in disarray.
Qingyuan Palace fell into silence.
Yun Lingyue was accustomed to cultivating and abstaining from food and drink, needing neither nourishment nor rest. So during her time in Qingyuan Palace, she remained silent, giving a cold shoulder to anyone who came, completely unresponsive.
Except for that person.
Only when Wu Bei came would she seem to come alive, sending countless swords shooting at the door, followed by endless recriminations.
Even though there was no door to block her, Wu Bei still hadn’t left.
Even though that person’s curses were utterly vile, Wu Bei still persevered, coming to see her every day.
Just a distant glance.
Though these days didn’t last long. When the commotion from the mountain foot arrived, the villains dragged Wu Bei away.
Naturally, Yun Lingyue walked ahead, already worried and missing her senior sister, keeping her eyes straight ahead without glancing back.
What happened next was there for everyone to see.
“No, impossible, don’t… You actually, you’ve actually been lying to me all along! Not a single person told me the truth!”
They were all deceiving her, all hiding things from her.
As the youngest daughter of a wealthy merchant, Yun Lingyue had been especially doted upon among all the female children in her family. Whatever she wanted to do or buy, she could have her way arbitrarily.
Until that day, she found out she wasn’t their biological child.
Their love for her was born of guilt, their indulgence was indifference. Because they had no expectations, no hopes, they didn’t care what kind of person she became.
In a fit of pique, she thus entered a cultivation sect.
When she met obstacles everywhere, Fu Lingyi was a light in her life.
When she was sad from heartbreak, Wu Bei was the warmth beneath that light.
Now these two people, who were like mothers to her, had woven one giant lie after another.
She couldn’t hear anyone’s calls, couldn’t hear any shouts. She just kept walking forward, forward, forward without a destination.
“Sister Yun…”
“Yun, Sister Yun…”
“Yun Lingyue!”
Wu Bei’s shout piercing through the forest brought her back to her senses. She stopped, turning towards the person behind her, who was panting heavily.
Fine. Now she didn’t even call her ‘sister’ anymore.
Seeing that the person had truly noticed her, Wu Bei became flustered herself, her eyes darting around as if there were interesting things hanging on the branches waiting for her appreciation.
“Why are you still following?”
Yun Lingyue summoned her sword, pointing it at her. “If you follow again, I absolutely will not hold back this time.”
Wu Bei stood rooted to the spot, unable to step forward, yet unwilling to turn and leave.
“Hmph.” Yun Lingyue snorted coldly, turning and walking away faster.
She didn’t know where she was going, or where she was.
In any case, she walked for three days and three nights.
Demonic beasts loved to roam freely in the forest; this was their safe haven, and also a place to store food. So people rarely entered the forest, lest they become demonic beast bait.
But all the demonic beasts in this forest, upon seeing a woman carrying a sword, would shrink back their ears and hide in the depths of the bushes, scared.
Because anyone who dared block her path would die a miserable death!
Wu Bei followed from a distance.
During the day, she kept her voice low, using her excellent talent to hide in the shade of the trees, making sure the person she was following wouldn’t notice her.
At night, when everything was silent and that person occasionally slept.
Only then could she sneak out, approach her side, and look at her.
From Yun Lingyue’s eyebrows to the distribution of her facial features, even the strands of hair hanging down, everything was just right, making one unable to resist reaching out to gently stroke them.
Even beneath those slightly pale lips, she could recall the taste of that night.
Desire. That was the first time in her life she had experienced such happiness and pleasure.
She wanted to try it again…
Yun Lingyue suddenly turned over, and Wu Bei was so startled she quickly covered her mouth, hiding very, very far away.
Watching the sleeping face of the person beneath the tree, she sighed quietly.
It seemed getting close again might not be possible.
“How long are you going to follow me?”
On the fourth day, Yun Lingyue finally spoke her first words in days, startling the person hiding in the tree so much she fell to the ground.
Covered in leaves, Wu Bei stood up, only sticking her head out from behind the tree, muttering, “I’m wrong, I’m wrong, don’t kill me, don’t kill me, don’t kill me…”
Yun Lingyue let out a deep sigh.
“If you’re scared, why did you follow?”
Wu Bei covered her head. She was timid, tears still glistening at the corners of her eyes, peeking out through the gaps between her fingers.
Confirming that the person was talking to her, and not raising her sword to chop her into pieces.
“I…” She swallowed, crouching on the ground, her eyes drifting upwards incessantly, “I, I…”
Disappointment was evident in Yun Lingyue’s eyes. She gripped her sword tighter, as if to crush it completely.
“If you can’t say it, there’s no need to speak.”
“I don’t want to listen…”
“I, I am fond of you!”
Yun Lingyue’s grip loosened, and the sword fell to the ground with a clatter.
“What?”
More tears welled up in Wu Bei’s eyes. She mustered her courage, her face red, and said it again: “I am fond of you, Yun, Sister Yun!”
“Don’t, don’t talk nonsense, demon cultivator!”
Yun Lingyue had waited for a long time, made a decision over three days, and in the end, she didn’t hear any explanation, only these sudden words. She was so angry her fury surged.
“That I would listen to a demon cultivator’s words, I…”
Wu Bei interrupted her anger, frantically blurting everything out, as if delivering her final words before death: “Sister Yun, I, I like your eyes, your eyes are so beautiful, I also like your hands, your fingers are so long and lovely, and your lips…”
“Stop!”
Yun Lingyue couldn’t bear to hear any more. She quickly stepped forward, raised her right foot, and stomped heavily on Wu Bei’s shoulder, causing her, who was already crouching, to sink further towards the ground. “Shut up! Don’t say another word!”
Even being stomped on didn’t matter. Wu Bei’s eyes seemed to turn into stars, looking at her as if she were the dazzling sun. “Sister, Sister Yun, I don’t want to die! I want to follow you forever. You can hit me, scold me, whatever you want. Please, let me stay with you always, as long as you let me experience it again, let me experience that night again…”
She didn’t finish her sentence, but she didn’t need to continue.
Because she saw Yun Lingyue’s pupils narrow, narrowing deeper and deeper.
“Demon cultivator, is that all you want to say?”
A wave of pain came from Wu Bei’s left shoulder. She seemed to only just react to what she had said, quickly lowering her head, wishing she could bury it in the dirt.
She had said too much…
If that person got angry, she would surely die without a burial place…
However, this fatal temptation was something no one could resist.
“Alright.”
Waiting for her was not a sharp sword edge, but a light, floating phrase.
Wu Bei looked up dazedly, gazing at Yun Lingyue’s face, which seemed to be smiling but wasn’t, and the corners of her lips that subtly lifted.
Whether it was amusement or mockery, it didn’t matter anymore.
Just that single word, “Alright,” from that person, was enough to send her mood soaring to the clouds.
“As long as you make me happy, demon cultivator.”
“Then I will allow you to be rewarded again.”
