The cultivation tabloid came and went without a trace. No one knew who created it, nor who specifically recorded and distributed it throughout the cultivation world.
In short, this tabloid had no origin, yet was still casually sold everywhere.
The moving image segments on the report seemed to record the situation at the time. Across the vast land, one person knelt on one knee, protecting a group of demonic sect members behind them.
The contrasting red and plain white robes formed the most striking colors.
Ye Yushuang gripped the report, wishing she could shred it to pieces.
“That person is indeed a demonic cultivator! That person… Mother, look!” She turned and placed it in front of Ye Wenzhen, urging her to look quickly.
Since Yaoguang Pavilion’s scandal, their business had declined significantly. Disciples had become fewer, household expenses sharply reduced, and even the attendants who served them daily were nowhere to be seen.
Only the mother and daughter remained in the empty great hall. Yuan Pei had also assessed the situation and was the first to leave.
Ye Wenzhen hooked her finger, causing the cultivation tabloid to fly over. She patiently stared at that particular section, looking and looking.
They no longer had the power to influence the direction of this report. Thinking of this, she felt a little sorrowful.
“Strange,” Ye Wenzhen said, pointing at the bottom left corner of the section, a look of confusion on her face. “What’s going on here?”
“What’s wrong, Mother? Where’s the problem?” Ye Yushuang quickly leaned close, looking up and down. “Senior Sister Fu definitely wouldn’t help a demon! The cultivation tabloid must be lying!”
Yaoguang Pavilion originated from selling cloth. Their family elders gradually incorporated spiritual energy into the clothes during the cloth-making process, making ordinary garments function like magic artifacts. Only then did they slowly come into contact with the path of cultivation.
Before Yaoguang Pavilion was founded, their family contributed the most spiritual cloth to the Imperial Prince.
One of the most precious types was silk spun by ancient silkworms absorbing celestial essence, woven into a piece of Spirit Rhino Feather Silk. That cloth was only enough to make exactly one garment, and the material was incredibly fine and seamless, with no scraps left.
The finished garment shimmered with a faint purple light, engraved with fine blue patterns. It could resist most attacks in the world and rapidly heal its wearer.
The Imperial Prince loved it and gave it to her most beloved and talented younger daughter. Relying on it, this young daughter was invincible and went on to found the Chongxiang Sword Sect , becoming its Sect Leader.
Ye Wenzhen had the good fortune to see that robe once in her youth. She was a businesswoman with a natural sensitivity for cloth.
She pointed to the spot on the section, that corner which seemed out of place with the person depicted: “This is Sect Leader Fu’s dark purple blue patterned robe… How could it be in her hands…”
Ye Yushuang tilted her head. “What dark purple blue patterned robe?”
“Since the Chongxiang Sword Sect was established, I’ve never seen her wear that robe again,” she said. “Why wouldn’t she leave it to her own daughter, but instead gave it to…”
As Ye Wenzhen spoke, a storm of thought raged in her mind. Suddenly, she burst out laughing. “So that’s it! That’s how it is! Haha, Shuangshuang, our sect can rise again!”
Ye Yushuang was utterly surprised. She didn’t understand why her mother was laughing, or why she so treasured the cultivation tabloid, tucking it carefully into her embrace.
Shui Yiqiu had been doing perfectly fine staying in Medicine King Valley. Because of a single sentence from her second senior sister, she went down the mountain to gather spiritual plants for her, only to be forcibly tied up and brought to help treat people in Qingyuan Palace.
Now facing Fu Lingyi and Yue Jin, she had only one thought in her mind.
Her second senior sister was definitely her nemesis.
“Please, Shui Yiqiu, help me,” Yue Jin pleaded sincerely. She had previously mistaken her for A-Ling and still held good feelings towards her. “The Benevolent Envoy doesn’t know why she suffered such a severe injury.”
Shui Yiqiu sighed. “Medicine King Valley disciples never care if a patient is a demonic cultivator or otherwise. Fellow cultivator Yue and fellow cultivator Fu only needed to say the word. Why bother tying me up, and layering the ropes, too?”
Fu Lingyi untied her, her tone apologetic. “A-Jin was a little anxious. Please don’t take offense.”
She waved her hand, indicating with good humor that it was fine.
From the moment she first examined Yue Jin’s meridians, she had sensed something. She noticed that the spiritual energy circulating within her didn’t resemble the righteous path, but seeing how deeply affectionate the two of them were at the time, she didn’t say much.
Thinking back now, these two clearly knew all along.
The Benevolent Envoy had been severely wounded by Baili Xianrong’s sword energy. Although the bleeding on her entire arm had stopped, she felt constant pain as if her arm had been severed.
The Evil Envoy, who usually didn’t get along with her, stayed by her side, holding her hand and wiping away her sweat.
Shui Yiqiu examined her injuries and prepared some spiritual medicine for her to take. “It’s nothing serious, a minor issue,” she said. “It’s just that this sword energy is entwined with a slightly unusual spiritual energy. The sword user likely cultivated a different technique.”
“A different technique?”
Yue Jin saw the doubt in Fu Lingyi’s mind and, to prevent her from discovering Baili Xianrong’s issue, quickly interrupted. “Will she be okay?”
“She’ll be fine. The pain has just reached the bone marrow, but taking spiritual medicine for a few more days will resolve it,” Shui Yiqiu said. She raised her eyes, instantly understanding Yue Jin’s meaning, and didn’t say anything more about the technique.
After all, the motto of the Medicine King Valley, the divine physicians, was to mind their own business and speak no more than necessary.
For better treatment, Shui Yiqiu was strongly urged by Yue Jin to stay, having her live in Qingyuan Palace until the Benevolent Envoy’s injuries healed.
The mountain was peaceful, but the world below was in turmoil.
Baili Xianrong was worried and anxious about Qingyuan Palace in Huaijin City, fearing Yue Jin would reveal her secret.
Just ten days after returning to her sect, the leaders of various sects gathered, fiercely denouncing the demonic sect. They swarmed to the foot of the Chongxiang Sword Sect mountain, begging her to emerge from seclusion.
This was, of course, a fortunate and desirable turn of events.
Reputation could be gained, and secrets could be erased.
And so, Baili Xianrong agreed.
If the conflict ten years ago was the Divine-Demonic War, then this battle could be called a repeat of the Divine-Demonic War.
Song Yin sat facing the Heaven’s Mystery Disk. Just as she and Wu Ju were competing to see who could calculate more accurately and quickly, the two orbs on the round plate collided violently.
“This is bad,” she stopped, grabbed the round plate from the ground, and rushed outside. “They’re coming!”
In early spring, Huaijin City was full of vibrant blossoms everywhere. It lacked many things, but its scenery was extraordinary. Even stepping onto the grass felt pleasant and full of spiritual energy.
The various sects once again formed an alliance. When they arrived at the foot of Qingyuan Palace mountain, they couldn’t help but take a deep breath and exclaim.
“This demon lord certainly knows how to pick a location for a palace!”
Baili Xianrong led the disciples of the Chongxiang Sword Sect , walking at the very front. This time, she had changed into a white robe. There were two tear marks below her eyes, one on each side. She held her hands behind her back, appearing leisurely and absolutely confident of success.
Her injuries were completely healed, and she had countless people on her side.
Even if Yue Jin struggled desperately, trying to slander her, it would be useless.
“Sect Leader Baili, please give your instructions.” The other sects respectfully requested her to take charge. The members of the alliance looked towards her. Feng Ruiyan, mixed in the crowd, also raised her gaze.
Baili Xianrong smiled faintly, her sword ringing as it was unsheathed, pointing towards the mountain woods. “Eradicate the demonic sect and kill the Demon Lord.”
“Empty words.”
Yue Jin flew out from deep within the woods. She stepped on her Soul Guarding Bell, the gentle ringing shaking the hearts of everyone present, even startling the upright swords causing them to tremble slightly.
“You people have trespassed on Qingyuan Palace more than once,” she said. “This Venerable One is not a patient person.”
Behind her followed the disciples of Qingyuan Palace, as well as Fu Lingyi by her side.
The alliance members didn’t dare provoke her. Instead, they seized on the opportunity to insult Fu Lingyi. Yuan Pei, fueled by rising excitement, secretly hurled insults to get revenge for past grievances.
However, a long arrow streak grazed her cheek, causing drops of blood to fall.
The Benevolent Envoy re-nocked her bow. This time, she placed ten Cloud Chasing Arrows on the string. Yue Jin scoffed coldly and glanced at Yuan Pei. “You can talk about this Venerable One, but not A-Ling. Next time, I’ll be aiming for your eyeballs.”
A blush crept onto Fu Lingyi’s fair face. This person was truly becoming more and more brazen, leaving her somewhat flustered.
Baili Xianrong stepped forward, swirling her sword in a flourish above her head. “The world has suffered under demonic cultivators for too long. I have come here to eliminate this threat for the people. I hope the Demon Lord will be accommodating?”
The obvious provocation in her words angered the Evil Envoy, who couldn’t bear it and had to be held back by Wu Ju.
“Heh,” Yue Jin said, utterly annoyed. She was having a perfectly good time with Fu Lingyi, yet someone always had to bother them. “Eliminate this threat for the people? Just with you…”
However, before she could finish speaking, she was forcefully interrupted by someone else.
“You think you can eliminate demons too? Don’t make me laugh myself to death!”
Everyone was in an uproar. The speaker was none other than the daughter of the Sect Leader of the gradually declining sect—Yaoguang Pavilion, Ye Yushuang.
“Were they part of the alliance this time?”
“I don’t know, haven’t heard.”
“Didn’t Yaoguang Pavilion have a demonic cultivator? It’s only been a little over a year, has everyone forgotten?”
“She actually dares to argue with Sect Leader Baili? She’s got guts.”
The chaotic whispers couldn’t affect Ye Yushuang in the slightest. With absolute certainty of success, she stepped out from the crowd, ignoring the flash of astonishment in Baili Xianrong’s eyes.
“If you say Yaoguang Pavilion produced a demonic cultivator, then by that logic, hasn’t the Chongxiang Sword Sect produced one too?”
Her words instantly drew immense hostility. Feng Ruiyan couldn’t stand others brazenly slandering her sect and desperately wanted to confront her.
Senior Sister Fu only helped the demonic sect, she didn’t become a demon!
Baili Xianrong sneered inwardly, guessing that she was probably just saying sensational things to try and bring her own sect down to the same level as Yaoguang Pavilion.
Yue Jin clenched her fist inside her sleeve, signaling the Benevolent Envoy to string her bow and prepare to attack. She looked back at Fu Lingyi, worried she might be unhappy hearing those words.
Fu Lingyi simply smiled at her.
Unexpectedly, Ye Yushuang changed her tone, making a big turn. “When I said the Chongxiang Sword Sect produced a demonic cultivator, I wasn’t referring to Senior Sister Fu Lingyi! I was referring to you, Baili Xianrong!”
Everyone present, including Yue Jin, was dumbfounded.
How could she know?
“Miss, Miss Ye,” Even though she wasn’t in Yaoguang Pavilion anymore, Yuan Pei hadn’t forgotten the power of her whip. She addressed her respectfully, though her attitude wasn’t particularly gentle. “Yaoguang Pavilion is already at the end of its rope. Even if you keep arguing like this, you won’t revive the sect. It would be better not to oppose Sect Leader Baili and seek your own fortune.”
She was currently a lone cultivator, hoping to join the Chongxiang Sword Sect , so naturally she had to side more with Baili Xianrong.
Ye Yushuang threw back her head and laughed loudly. Dressed in pink, her anger flared. Her side buns were styled in opposing directions, making even her indignation appear charming and lovely. “Yuan Pei, you’re truly regressing the more you live! You actually stooped to flattering a demonic cultivator! Be careful she doesn’t slaughter everyone in the Chongxiang Sword Sect and not spare you either!”
Yuan Pei was startled into silence, not daring to say anything more.
Regarding the matter of slaughtering the sect, it had previously been confirmed to be Ji Peilan’s doing. Furthermore, there were even widespread rumors that Fu Lingyi had ordered her to commit the crime and then silenced her permanently.
But now Ye Yushuang had pointed it out so clearly, causing everyone’s hearts to pound.
Fu Lingyi hadn’t quite caught on yet. Although she had been expelled from her sect, she still held deep respect for her Sect Leader and master, unable to believe she would do such a thing.
Moreover, the Sect Leader was also the savior of her mother.
Yue Jin took a step back, standing by her side and taking her hand.
Their hands clasped together, holding on very, very tightly.
