After Feigning Amnesia, My Sworn Enemy Takes Revenge Chapter 18

Qingyuan Flies Down, Undercurrents Surge

A message arrived from Wu Bei.

Yue Jin was in deep cultivation, vowing to restore her cultivation base. A paper kite floated lightly by, slipping into her window.

Only eight characters were written on the paper kite.

“Wu Xi is dead, everything is suspicious.”

A few days ago, Yue Jin had just agreed with Fu Lingyi to go down the mountain together to apologize to someone at Yaoguang Pavilion after her injuries healed. She hadn’t expected this person’s injuries to heal so quickly. In just a few days, she could walk freely and move without hindrance. So, they were setting off today, just waiting to depart after lunch.

But the arrival of this message made Yue Jin intensely want to immediately grab Wu Bei and question her for a clear explanation.

What do you mean Wu Xi is dead?

Didn’t she run away? Didn’t she get the intelligence early and lead her followers away from Qingyuan Palace?

How could she be dead? Who killed her?

Just as she was deep in thought, Fu Lingyi’s soft call came from the main courtyard. She quickly crumpled the paper kite and stuffed it into her sleeve, then ran over, pretending as if nothing was wrong.

“Qingshu, I called you several times. What are you doing?”

Fu Lingyi slid the sword she had just polished into its sheath, turned her head to look at her, and asked casually.

Yue Jin’s expression was a little unnatural. She drew back her hands and stammered out a couple of sentences: “Ah? Ah, I was reading. Lunchtime isn’t here yet, I’m starving to death.”

“I still have some spiritual fruit here, it’s on the table, you can have some first,” Fu Lingyi said. She took a silver hairpin and a headpiece from her dressing table, putting them into a spatial pouch. “Eat it when we go down the mountain, that way we’ll be faster.”

“So urgent?”

Yue Jin felt resigned; she had wanted to take the opportunity to sneak out for a bit.

“Do you have other important matters?”

Fu Lingyi went and stuffed the spiritual fruit into her hand, then pulled her out the door by her wrist. Although she spoke a question, her actions clearly left no room for denial.

She didn’t give her any room to argue.

She didn’t dare say what she was going to do either. She just nodded her head, then seemed to remember, and shook her head fiercely.

“…Nothing.”

Yun Lingyue was guarding the barrier entrance. Her attitude towards Yue Jin was quite a bit better now, but not by much. She just instructed her, telling her not to carelessly cause trouble for her Senior Sister.

The path down the mountain was led by Fu Lingyi, and with the added bonus of flying on a sword, it was much more convenient and easier than her previous escape.

Yue Jin sat on the sword, holding the spiritual fruit and slowly nibbling. If someone had told her a month ago that she would be leisurely staying with Fu Lingyi, not fighting or causing trouble, she definitely would have given that person a solid punch.

Looking at them now, the two of them were actually getting along quite harmoniously. Although they didn’t talk much during the journey, there was no awkward atmosphere.

It was truly hard to imagine.

Yaoguang Pavilion was located within Thousand Dynasty City, a distance away from Lin’an City. As soon as they descended the mountain, Fu Lingyi took her directly to Wei Xian Tower, ordering a few specialty dishes, a basket of crab roe buns, and a pot of Six Pure White wine wine.

“Wine!” Yue Jin immediately poured herself a cup, tilted her head back, and drained it.

“Oh? You like to drink?”

The strong liquor in her throat made her suddenly feel startled. She raised her eyes and met Fu Lingyi’s scrutinizing gaze.

Not good, I was careless for a moment.
I was only thinking about drinking and forgot to hide my tracks.
Would a person with amnesia remember the taste of wine?

“Cough, cough,” Yue Jin said. She hadn’t thought of a countermeasure yet, but the burning sensation of the white liquor choked her throat, making her cough several times. “Cough, so strong, what kind of wine is this? Cough, cough, cough!”

Fu Lingyi asked the shop to bring another glass of plain water to help soothe her. A hint of nostalgic tenderness appeared in her eyes: “Six Pure White wine, Lin’an City’s specialty wine. Every household brews it.”

“The first time she drank it, she choked like this too…”

“Cough, cough, cough, what?” Yue Jin was busy gulping down water, feeling lucky she had managed to muddle through and hadn’t heard what she said.

“Nothing,” Fu Lingyi said, skipping over the previous topic. She picked up a piece of food for Yue Jin with her chopsticks, while she herself didn’t eat anything. “Eat quickly. We have to reach Yaoguang Pavilion before dark, or else we’ll have to find an inn outside.”

When Yue Jin heard “inn”, she imagined herself and her sleeping in the same bed and shuddered, speeding up her eating.

Full and satisfied, she leaned back in the chair and let out a burp, completely unconcerned with her image.

Fu Lingyi put down some silver to pay. Just as she was about to call Yue Jin to leave, she caught sight of a figure flashing past the entrance of the main hall.

Immediately after, a burst of fierce commotion erupted outside, growing more and more intense.

“Don’t wander off,” she instructed the lazy Yue Jin lounging in her chair. “I’ll go take a look.” She drew her sword and went out the door.

Yue Jin agreed obediently on the surface, but inwardly was speechless at her meddling. Just as she was thinking of asking the waitress for another pot of wine, a tiny paper kite flapping its wings quickly darted down from above her head and slipped into her collar.

She reached up, smacked it, and pulled it out.

This paper kite was extremely small and had no spiritual power, no different from the one Wu Bei had sent her this morning.

It’s Qingyuan.

Yue Jin was a little confused. This was a magic artifact unique to Qingyuan Palace for transmitting messages. How could it appear here?

Could it be there are people from Qingyuan Palace here?

She scanned the surroundings but didn’t see any familiar faces.

She unfolded the paper kite. Inside, there was also only one sentence:

“The matter of the Xuan Zhuo Sect’s destruction is related to Yaoguang Pavilion’s Great Elder Ji Peilan.”

Yue Jin narrowed her eyes. She discreetly destroyed the paper kite, throwing the ashes into the leftover dish.

Someone who can use this Qingyuan method must be a follower of Qingyuan Palace.

And this morning, having just received the news of Wu Xi’s death, this matter about the Xuan Zhuo Sect immediately followed. It’s still inextricably linked to Yaoguang Pavilion, where she is heading.

When it comes down to it, was that paper kite this morning really sent by Wu Bei?

Along this journey, it’s as if someone is guiding her thoughts in that direction…

Fu Lingyi came back not long after. She sheathed her sword, patted Yue Jin, and signaled her to move.

Yue Jin tilted her face up and asked, “What happened?”

“Just a verbal dispute, nothing significant.”

“Do such things require Sister Lingyi to personally handle them? Sister is truly kind-hearted, but this journey will be long now.” Her tone was sarcastic. She strongly disliked Fu Lingyi’s way of doing things. In her mind, mortal affairs should be resolved by mortals themselves; there was no need for cultivators to uphold justice.

After all, you can only manage for a moment, not forever. People only fear cultivators. If the cultivators leave, the wicked people will only become even worse.

She had experienced this before.

What’s more, this is clearly a plot to lure the tiger away from the mountain. The person who gave her the Qingyuan message deliberately caused this commotion to make Fu Lingyi temporarily leave her sight so they could transmit the message.

She was actually tricked so easily.

Fu Lingyi turned to look at her. She wasn’t angry at her tone, she just said, “Just this once, it won’t happen next time.”

Her eyes were full of sincere apology, and her voice was gentle, just like the tenderness she used when speaking to every junior sister.

Not only that, this tenderness was even stronger than before.

Yue Jin was used to her feigned consideration. Suddenly hearing such sincere words, she felt deeply uncomfortable.

Something’s not right, very not right.
What is this situation between the two of them?

Yue Jin was flustered. She fiddled with the end of her hair between her fingers, then tilted her head left and right, not knowing what to look at. She immediately took a large step backward.

“…What are you saying?”

“I’m perfectly fine on my own, what are you saying? It’s getting dark, quickly, let’s go quickly.”

She quickly circled around and ran out of the shop first. Outside, the sun was bright, casting a golden glow on the road. She covered her face with both hands, but couldn’t hide her reddening ear tips.

This isn’t right.

This is absolutely not right!

What a strange feeling, quickly forget it!

She didn’t see that Fu Lingyi was currently watching her back, her lips slightly lifted.

It was a smile from the heart.

At this moment, Ye Yushuang was pacing back and forth in the hall. She had heard the news that Fu Lingyi was coming from the Sect Leader earlier and couldn’t sit still the entire day.

“Mother, Mother!” She pattered onto the platform, shaking the Sect Leader who was sitting there. “How much longer? I can’t wait!”

“The guest rooms are ready,” replied Yaoguang Pavilion’s Sect Leader Ye Wenzhen, who spoiled her daughter very much and always answered her questions. “The red spirit jade says it’s today.”

“Then how much longer!” she said, continuing to shake her.

“Miss Ye,” someone reported. “The disciples of the Chong Xiang Sword Sect have arrived at the foot of the mountain.”

Ye Yushuang was extremely excited. She let go and hurried to run outside, not forgetting to glance in the floating mirror in the great hall twice and smooth her hair.

“Sister Lingyi…”

The mountain gate opened wide to welcome the distinguished guests. Ye Yushuang shouted out half her greeting, but swallowed the rest back down.

She saw that beside the person she had been longing for, there was also another person.

Fu Lingyi’s gaze didn’t notice her; instead, it lingered on Yue Jin, who was by her side.

Yue Jin kept her head half-tilted away, resisting the closeness of the person beside her. Every strand of her hair seemed to tremble, as if she were sulking.

Meanwhile, Fu Lingyi had a smile on her lips, observing her expression, and occasionally gently coaxing her with a few words.

She even reached out and poked her angry face.

Yue Jin raised her hand and slapped it away: “What are you doing? Don’t touch me.”

“Still angry? I’ve already apologized, I said I won’t leave you behind next time…”

“Stop talking!” All the way, Fu Lingyi had been stuck on this topic, and Yue Jin couldn’t change it. Fu Lingyi just kept pressing her, causing Yue Jin to genuinely feel a bit mortified and angry. “It’s so annoying, I’ve heard enough!”

Ye Yushuang froze in place, as if she couldn’t feel her own body.

On what basis does that person act so arrogant towards Fu Lingyi?

Could everything she said be true? That she dumped Fu Lingyi, that she held the dominant position?

How could that be!

Sister Lingyi, Sister Lingyi is so extraordinarily dignified, like an immortal reborn. How could she develop feelings for such a vulgar and unruly person?

What about me is inferior to that person!

Ye Yushuang took a deep breath. She walked forward and squeezed between the two of them, pushing Yue Jin so hard she nearly fell. She directly linked arms with Fu Lingyi, her attitude suggestive.

“Sister Lingyi, do you still remember me?”

Fu Lingyi’s eyes darkened. She felt slightly annoyed but didn’t show it on the surface. She gently withdrew her arm from Ye Yushuang’s embrace, walked over, and steadied Yue Jin. “Miss Ye Yushuang,” she said, “We met before at the Alliance Meeting. A pleasure.”

Hah! She got ignored! Yushuang right. I do hope she gives up on Lingyi soon. She’s simply just unobtainable for all except Yue Jin.
